Great honest shop this is now my go to Tranny shop. I felt like the other shops were telling me bs.

Simply the best transmission shop in the tri valley area and possibly the bay area. I spoke with many shops and did my research before calling Kwik Shift. When I spoke with Allen, his quote with well under the other shops ($ 500 — $ 1000+) and I could tell he was an expert on transmissions. TIP — these guys actually rebuld the transmimssions themselves which saves you money. Most shops just pull them and send them to guys like Allen and then upcharge you for the rebuild.
Bottom line: cheapest and best with amazing customer service. they got my car done in just a few days and it shifts like butter! smoothest clutch and transmission i have ever felt. i’m sold for life on this shop and if you don’t at least call them for a quote you are wasting time and probably a lot of money too!

I was chasing some weird transmission issues on my second gen Cummins for a few weeks before deciding to bring my truck to Alan. My friend suggested Kwik Shift after getting a trans replacement on his 98 GMC Sierra. After I installed a new transmission on my truck i was limited to only around 15mph. A few days trying to diagnose the issue for a week or so and with no luck I dropped it off at Alans shop on a monday. He quickly diagnosed it as a faulty transfer case. By Friday the job was done and it now drives better and shifts smoother than it ever had! Not only did he call me with updates when he promised, complete the job when promised, and even give me great discounts, he also stayed late to wait for me to get off work so I could pick the truck up.
Unrelated to Alans work, my trans pan was leaking a small amount of fluid prior to bringing it in. After getting my truck back, I noticed the leak was still there. I called Alan about the issue, and he called me back soon after. He even told me to bring it back and he would re seal the pan for free. All in all he’s an honest guy who cares about his work and his customers. Would recommend his shop to anyone.

I took my 2000 Yukon XL into Alan with a suspected transmission issue. Alan found that the issue was the ignition wiring which was much less expensive than a transmission repair. Alan was extremely cooperative and even took the car to a Smog Station for me. I highly recommend Kwik Shift.

after another shop gave me a hefty estimate on my transmission being bad and replacement needed i decided to get another opinion from kwik shift. immediately alan says the fluid is very old and dirty. he recommends changing the fluid (something the other guy refused to do claiming it was a «waste of money») before we bother tearing the whole transmission out of the van and credit card out of my pocket. also as a worst case scenario he gave me an estimate for personally rebuilding my transmission for about 1,500 less than the other guy? well the fluid swap fixed the problem and the codes havent came back again and it shifts like brand new all day on the freeway and through the city.

Last year my daughter’s car needed a transmission. After being quoted more then she paid for the car at other places we brought the car to Allan. He confirmed the need for the transmission and his price was significantly lower. I also gave him a list of repairs that another shop said the car needed. He reviewed the list and determined that there was no need to make those repairs. As a single Mother I am extremely grateful for his honesty and excellent work. Now when there is an issue with the car I have my daughter immediately bring it to Allan. We have never been disappointed.

I took my car here after getting price jacked by all the other local transmission shops. Took a chance base on the Unilocal reviews.
I highly recommend this place to everyone for transmission work or just any mechanical work. I spoke with the owner (Alan) and he walked me through explaining what i needed and I could wait. His price is very reasonable and he could shave off a few dollars based on your situation. He saved me a ton of money and I drove away very happy. Not only that, Alan is a very honest man and I would go back there again for sure for any future work. Great experience.

My daughter took her car to a mechanic and they told her they thought she needed a transmission and wanted to charge her over $ 3,000. I took the car to Alan at Kwik Shift and within 5 minutes he determined that the transmission was fine and that the problem was a wheel bearing. He ordered the bearing and the next morning he repaired the car in less than 30 minutes and the total bill was $ 300.00 with most of the charge for the wheel bearing. Great service, very knowledgable, friendly and above all… HONEST. Highly recommended.

I had what I thought to be major issues with my transmission. After I swapped my engine, each time I started my car, the O/​D bulb was flashing and the Check Engine light was on. My gears did not seem to switch and overdrive was not working at all. I took my car to Alan who ran diagnostics on it and suspected that the transmission was not correctly plugged in. He sprayed the contacts with contacts cleaner and plugged it back in, and it worked like a charm. He charged me only a fraction of what I thought I would have to spend on repairing my transmission. I highly recommend this shop to anyone!

I took my 1992 truck in for what I thought could quite possibly be a new transmission. Allan took a look and a day later I had my truck back with only minor repairs required. Honest, easy to work with, great shop!

Alan is the last honest mechanic on earth!!! My family and I have been going here for most of my repairs for well over 15 years and plan to keep on doing so!!! Alan is a real easygoing guy, and IF he got angry (which I have never seen) someone must’ve really been trying to push his buttons. Unfortunately, the manufacturer’s warranties do not normally go beyond a 12 month period, so I really don’t see why it would be the mechanics’ fault that the part failed after 14 mos. I have had nothing but great experiences with Alan, and he is the only mechanic that I have ever trusted! Do yourself the favor of «peace of mind» and give him your business!

I had a clutch done about a year ago, I drive very very easy on this clutch too and after a year and two months it goes out; just two months after the warranty ended! So i go back to Alan (the owner) and ask him if there was anything i could do and he said he could sell me a new clutch for a bit cheaper which was what i wasn’t looking for. igo in there just asking for a number for me to contact the manufacturer and he startes to get angry, as if he didn’t put in the correct parts that he was supposed to. and he said to me «get out of my office, you’re pissing me off»…im still in the process of figuring out how to get this bastard out of working under nice peoples cars but for now, do not go to him!!!

VERY BEST experience I have ever had dealing with a mechanic and auto shop! SUPERIOR customer service from Alan the owner and his shop mechanics. Alan gave me a great deal on fixing my Ford Windstar mini van, had the work completed in less than the expected time frame, is well informed on my type of car and answered all my questions. Allan runs a great shop. I priced a few different places, and he was patient, and gave me great information about rebuilding vs. replacing, and the price was good, not the lowest, but definitely not the highest. He fixed my classic Mustang in a few short days, and it was 30 minutes less work than the original estimate, so he charged me less, which is always a sign of good service. Honest shop, pretty busy, but I think they have three mechanics, because they had good turn around. i sent my boss there, and he had good results as well.
