I stopped by on the way home today. After about five months of being closed they reopened today as Café Main with new owners and a new look and menu. The place is jammed with fixtures. They have added a pizza oven, a three stool bar and a small drink cooler. The easy chairs at the front window are gone. You now have 4 places for pizza on Main Street. I had a small pizza and it was tasty with nice fresh quality ingredients. They still have sandwiches and they now have beer and wine. The selection looked okay. I used to like the select loose teas that they got from Lindsey’s Tea Company but those are gone. I guess we have to settle for bag tea. They still have coffee and I don’t know if that has changed. The machine looks like the same one. They have a better selection of food but the place lost what little charm it had as it is so filled up with the fixtures and staff. There were 9 people working when I was there at about 5pm today. That seems like a lot. I hope they do well. The place has gone through some changes in the last ten years.

This place was great for the quiet setting and neat local art but it is currently getting a total rehaul. The only thing I’ve learned is that it is going to be selling alcoholic beverages soon so I don’t know if it is entirely going to stay just coffee… but its in a prime location…

Good sandwiches. Tasty. Slow service. Molasses slow. Served by a kid in a tank top who needed to shower. Eww. So much for old, downtown Pleasanton charm.

I’m all about coffee breaks and checking out new cafes which are not chain(Sorry Peets, sorry Starbucks, sorry Tully’s). I got a pleasant surprise when I ordered my mocha and they asked me if I wanted Hershey’s or Ghiradelli chocolate in my mocha. What? I get a choice? I have never heard of such things. Being the local SF girl I am, I chose Ghiradelli. So they pumped the chocolate life into my mocha and continued on with offering me the very best. Whole or nonfat milk? Whipped cream or no whipped cream? A mocha made to order without the pressure of holding up the line or screwing up the flow. This is new to me. I got a pretty good mocha and got to chill on comfy seats at Coffee Beans. Coffee Beans has a decent dessert selection and offers coffee drinks for even the most serious caffeine heads. There are plenty of tables and chairs wide enough to read or work on. This is a great café that even serves up sandwiches in the shop in the back.

I’ve been in here a handful of times and have had good experiences as far as I can remember. I visited again today wanting some herbal tea, and was pleasantly surprised to find they have a selection of about 20 loose leaf teas to choose from — a nice change from the tea bags you find at Starbucks. Service was fine, nothing to brag about, but fine. It was fast(but I also went in the middle of the afternoon when it wasn’t very busy). The atmosphere is definitely cozy inside. Lots of windows and seating, I totally wanted to stay here instead of going back to work!

I went here on the weekend. The farmers market was going on and the little girls I was with wanted some«warm» hot chocolate and Tully’s I guess made it too hot one time so they asked to try this place instead. They where not welcoming. At all. First we waited in line for awhile. My girls(i babysit them) are very well behaved and stoop in line patiently for about 10 min. While in line they started our order. I wanted two warm hot chocolates in FORHERECUPS. Once I got them they where in to go cups. Why? cause little kids might break a for here cup. Whatever I let that one slide. What really ticked me off is that as we walked into the back room the this guy who was working there says«Can you do me a favor and not open that in here, thanks» That, was a bag of kettle corn. I mean come on, my kids are well behaved and if we made a mess with the pop corn we would have cleaned it up. Not to mention he is at work at a coffee shop. OMG he might have to clean something up?! This place was just cold. And it wasn’t just me the workers where rude too it was others as well. I watched this one couple come in the back(it looks like an entrance) and stand at the kitchen just chatting and waiting patiently when the guy behind the counter barks«Could you order from the front.» I’m surprised these people didn’t leave. They barked back, «We didn’t know, we’ve never been here before.» And they will probably never go back again, just like us.

Never very crowded here, so it’s a good place to go if you just want to chill.

This was a great little find. It’s a coffee shop in the front half, and a little sandwich joint in the back. I have yet to go to the coffee shop there, but the sandwiches are fantastic! You Can choose from one of their predesigned sandwiches, or you can design your own. I had the New Yorker, and I, personally, was totally impressed. The place is rarely full, but the food is great, so I’m not sure why it’s not full. It’s a nice place to have a nice lunch where you can just chit chat. I went once, and I’m sold!

New owners, and they have tried to improve it… TRIED. I cannot wait for it close so I can lease the space and finally put in my internet café, I hear the internet is the new rage.

The coffee is good, but the service sucks. It was a nice place to bring my dog… but the bimbo girls that work there have no personality. or brain! It does not take 10 minutes to make a latte and it does not take 15 to toast a bagel!

Coffee Beans & Bistro is a great place to people watch and bring your dog(they leave out a bowl of water for the pups) The coffee shop also has musicians come to entertain the patrons every so often. My only complaints are that the place is a little on the not so clean side and the line moves really SLOW.

Nice place to just sit and chill for a while. I really like their extensive tea selection. They have some nice items on the menu and I like the atmosphere.

One of the best local coffee places in the heart of downtown. They offer a wide variety of coffees, teas, pastries, sandwiches, etc. They don’t always stay open very late but it’s a nice place to relax and soak in the atmosphere either inside or outside. The staff are helpful. You can even get a rare treat sometimes– local people singing or reading poetry. One question though: Why don’t you stay open past 7pm on a Saturday night? Seriously, I’d patronize this place more than Starbucks if you stayed open later.

This is the sweetest little coffee house in Pleasanton. It’s a nice place to sit back and relax while you enjoy your coffee, muffin, pastry, soup, sandwich, salad… Did I mention they have a great lunch/snack menu in addition to coffee? Their sandwiches are wonderful — I really love the tuna(with bacon)! Oh and the spinach scone… you’ll have to taste it yourself. If they have soup — be sure to have a bowl… or two. Love the staff — all very friendly!
