You are just another number in the system! I had ADT installed over a year ago at my home in Mandeville Louisiana. This past September my husband was transferred to Houston, TX. When we moved in September, I called ADT to cancel the service at the Mandeville house. The service was put on hold until we would purchase a house in Texas. The ADT rep. I spoke with over the phone never told me that my monthly payments would still be automatically drafted from my checking account… but that is fine. I just didn’t realize it and thought when I bought a home in TX I would call and continue the service from where I left off.
In January I received 2 messages from ADT to call an 800 number. I figured they wanted to know if i found a house and when would I start my service again. I did not call back right away. We purchased a house December 30, 2015 and were very busy with a shipment of furniture etc… from Nigeria and a shipment from our previous house in Mandeville. When I did call mid-​January to inquire about the reconnect, they informed me that I had been turned over to a Collections Agency for not paying my bill. They would not let me speak to a supervisor, so I could understand what went wrong! They just kept telling me I had to call the Collection Agency.
The Collection Agency said if you don’t pay your bill after 90 days they turn your account over to Collections. The last automatic draft was November 2015. Now instead paying $ 121.32 to get caught up, they want over $ 900.00 with no service continuing! I still didn’t understand, because if my account was being drafted automatically, why did it stop. I never stopped my account from being automatically drafted… so what happened? Of course, Collections couldn’t tell me anything except they wanted over $ 900 or my credit would be in jeopardy.
That I wasn’t allowed to speak to a Supervisor at ADT is absolutely ridiculous and very poor customer service! The automatic drafts stopped because Chase changed my address from Mandeville to our temporary address in Texas, but ADT did not have the rental address in their system. So ADT couldn’t get $ 60.66 automatically anymore. I had no clue this was going on! The person I spoke with originally to put the service on Hold, did not explain everything properly! Now, I am being put in a terrible situation to pay this kind of money with no service attached.
We could have resolved this easily, if ADT would have put a supervisor on the phone! VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have since heard many stories like this about ADT!
I wish I would have never decided to do business with them in the first place! I should have checked with Better Business Bureau, word of mouth, and reviews.
DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!
I will tell this story to everyone I know and then some!

I have had ADT in my home for three years since I was burglarized. Their installation and service for that was good. However the first time something goes wrong there is absolutely no service. My alarm stopped working it was not sending a signal. They would not send anyone out to fix it and would not even give me an appointment over the phone when I called. They said that their appointment scheduling was down. When I asked if they could guarantee that someone would be out the next day they said no they could not guarantee there would be an appointment. What’s the point of having an alarm if the first time it doesn’t work they don’t come and fix it. This happened at night time I live by myself and it is totally unacceptable as far as I’m concerned. What if I was an elderly person with a life alert system and they don’t come and fix that in a timely fashion either. I am only giving one star because there is no choice for 0 stars.

This is the worst company — 1 star is too high. We have had no issues since 2009– been paying since then. When we finally have an issue they SUCK! If you are looking for an alarm company– LOOK FOR SOMEONE ELSE! AVOID ADT.
Let me say that again, they SUCK! Our alarm has been beeping for 5 days at 1:15 am. Called to have someone come out, they assured me it would be next day with a 5 hour window. I work 5 minutes from home and they were to call in route. No call. Called again 4 times trying to get an appointment and have them call my cell. No calls to cell. Alarm still beeping. 3 dats later still no service even though I was told someone would be out. Their final solution — unplug everything. Now i have no alarm at all, no technician scheduled and there have been recent burglaries in my area. Thank you ADT for leaving me high and dry when i needed you. I have already called another alarm company.
ADT sucks. Do NOT use them.

Had ADT security system installed in my house in Washington, all went well and we were 100% happy with the service. If there are two words of advice I can give you… NEVER MOVE!!! We moved to Arizona before our contract expired. We wished to honor our obligations, but dealing with this has been a COLOSSAL nightmare of confusion, misinformation, and after tonight disrespect. After paying for two months of service for an alarm I didn’t own, in a house I no longer owned I succumbed to having it installed in our new home to honor our contract. Here is what blows me away… If I walked away from my original contract the fee was some where in the $ 700 range (hence installing it here). They say the original service was never cancelled (bullshit, as I covered that when I arranged for the new install). Yet, if I cancel today out of sheer frustration I am liable for the early termination fee for the NEW contract rather than the original one that was «never cancelled». Then to top it off I get put in time out by the Customer Service Rep who apparently doesn’t feel frustration is a legitimate customer experience. Mind you I NEVER cursed at him… I wish I had. Let’s just say when this contract is up I’m gonna have these clowns roll their contract and system in a tight little ball, and well, you figure the rest out.
Should have just stuck by my trusty Pitbul and pistol and save myself a ton of hassle and money. Can’t wait to get out from under these guys.
Hey ADT, if your reps read this then strongly consider… I love your service, but can’t STAND being treated like a jerk while you reach into my bank account every month. Lack of respect for me as a consumer will only be met with lack of respect for my service provider!

We have the security system installed this week. Brad gave us many good suggestions. He is really nice person and very good customer supporter. With the security system installed, we feels much better and safer now.

I’m worrying. I thought they were supposed to be the best in the business. We were told we had to have an upgrade to the cell. We made an appt for that, we thought, and a salesman showed up to talk about video coverage. So the cell guy didn’t show up for about 2 more weeks. He came in telling us how great he was, installing for banks, etc. He was here for 3 hours. It was only supposed to take an hour. It was late, after 5, he said he didn’t care because he was union and getting overtime. He didn’t leave until after 8. He wanted to do more work, but my husband told him it was time to go. After he left, our alarm went off three times, falsely, in the middle of the night. We had to turn it off and not have security coverage.
I called the next day and said it didn’t work and we couldn’t alarm our home because the thing kept going off when there was no intrusion. They told me it would be two weeks before someone could come. I had to go out of town in a couple of days. Our home would be without coverage while I was gone! My husband called and demanded quicker service. A guy came out in 3 days. He said that the guy who came before had messed up the wires, but after this second guy left, we still kept getting open door codes and false alarms going off in the night.
The thing has never worked since they insisted to replace the cell. It just went off again falsely 30 minutes ago. My husband called and they said there was nothing wrong! The gal on the phone said if it goes off again, to call them and they will send out a tech. In another two weeks? This is crazy.
We never had any problems before they said they had to change our cell. This has been going on for 6 weeks. The first lady I talked to after the first visit told me she’d credit us 20 bucks. ??? If someone breaks in here, we’ll be out more than 20 bucks!
This is crappy service and I have lost trust in that we are not being monitored at all because we can’t turn it on. And the door alarms keep going off even when we don’t have it armed. The thing is so screwed up I can’t turn it on when I leave because I think a false alarm will go off when I’m gone.
I’m going to have to find another security service. ADT has gone downhill. I don’t trust them anymore and we’ve used them for more than 20 years. Either they can’t fire incompetent people or this incompetence goes all the way to the top. Or both.
Too add insult to injury, they just raised our monthly charge three months ago!

ADT customer service sucks, after having a problem, and needing service, I called and after waiting on the phone for 25 minutes, it was a two week wait for a tech to come and look at my equipment. If I were asking them to install a new system they would have been here the same day. Will find another company

Avoid ADT at all costs. After having them install a wireless alarm system in 2006, and paying a monthly fee for 9 years, we didn’t need much service except for a continual battery failure issue, but we had few complaints until now… After being a loyal customer for over 9 years, we sold our home and called to cancel the service. After a lengthy discussion to try to get me to transfer the service to the new home, I was given instructions to fax a request with my account number and address with the date of cancellation and reason… why; I have no idea.
3 weeks go by and I receive a letter saying that the account is NOT closed (they require the notice to be signed; not told that before) and I now need to sign a form with the same information and fax it to a different number and wait another 30 days, before they would close the account. Talking to an ADT Manager directly told me everything. It’s a scam to stick it to you. By the way, if they determine you are not the correct owner, you must prove the owner is not alive (death certificate) or they don’t close the account.
Do NOT get into a contract or buy anything from these folks.
BTW, I am building a custom home and they will NEVER get my business again !!
Totally pissed off at ADT…

I had a burglary and the motion detector failed. We established it was failed and at most we can get is $ 500 from ADT though I lost $ 100k in valuables. It gets worse. The technician stops by and instead of letting me show him how the system failed he jumps on a ladder and monkeys with the motion detector. Oh wow, jeez, it’s suddenly working when he retests it. Does he think I was born yesterday? I make a high 6-​figure income so for me $ 500 is chump change. It’s all about the principle of the matter. IF A TECH COMES TO YOUR HOUSE, MAKE SURE HE TESTS THE SYSTEM BEFORE HE GETS ON A LADDER AND MONKEYS WITH THE SENSORS!!!

Whoa~I’m vehemently perplexed with the one-​star Unilocal reviews!!! I have been an ADT customer ever since ²⁰⁰⁰⁄₂₀₀₁; my home was built brand new in 1998 but, the building contractor who built my home installed a sub-​par alarm system so, I called ADT requesting an updated alarm system be installed.
FYI: The first ADT installers were SUB-​CONTRACTORS (sub-​par) working out of Sacramento CA called, Magnum Security Systems. After Magnum installed the first ADT Alarm System, my account was transferred to the Pleasanton office about six months later but, I never received any kind of notification! Upon calling and discovering my ADT account was transferred to the Pleasanton ADT Office, according to the ADT Administrative Head Supervisor who surprisingly informed me my ADT account is now being administratively managed by the «ADT’s Main Division.»
Years later, fast forwarding to 2009, I requested my account be transferred to the «ADT CORPORATE DIVISION.» Please note: The operative words used are «ADT’s Corporate Division!» As soon as your account transfers to «ADT Corporate Division,» your ADT system will be monitored via the corporate ADT services.
BTW: Doug Xiques is the corporate ADT head sales manager at the Pleasanton Office; I always speak to Mr. Xiques regarding upgrading my ADT Security System. The ADT Alarm Technicians who visit my home either upgrading or repairing my ADT Alarm Systems are ALWAYS ADT Corporate Alarm Technicians wearing blue ADT Polo Shirts! No ADT subcontractors are allowed installing any ADT component in my home-​ever.
Today, October 19, 2015, I had an ADT CORPORATE Technician updated an ADT sensor in my home; the technician was highly competent and was very knowledgable with the ADT Alarm Security Systems’ operations. I’m very happy with my ADT Corporate Division’s services rendered; I will never ever let an ADT subcontractor install or repair my ADT Alarm System in my home-​ever like I stated before.
I use to request Head ADT Technician, Alli but, he was promoted to the Sacramento Corporate Division; after Alli left for the Sacramento Division, Lernic was taking care of my ADT Corporate Account. However, Lernic has now become the Head Technician for Pleasanton Corporate Division; unfortunately, Lernic was possibly away responding to another ADT Corporate Account Customer so, the reasons are obvious why my ADT Corporate Account was serviced by another ADT Corporate Technician.

Adt don’t do it. System keeps failing. Had tech come out several times all they did was reset the system. Last call 9÷28÷15, the tech wrote on his report that he changed the cell. All he did was reset the system. On two separate occasions I sat on my remote panic button and set off my alarm. When I called Adt, they said that they did not receive the alarm. Tried to cancel but they said I would have to pay a cancellation fee. Now I am paying Adt for services that are not rendered.
Today 10÷01÷15, I had another call for service. Window of Between 8:00am-12:00pm and they were a no show. No call or anything from them.
Stay away from Adt!!!’

Worst customer service. They even can’t answer basic questions about the service, without getting your name and exact address (I suppose to start sending ads to you). They tried to say that exact address is needed for quotes, but I didn’t ask for quotes and I was willing to provide address of the house nearby, but was asked for my address. This is negative experience from the beginning.

Guess I should’ve read the review before I got roped into this scam. Worst customer service ever, totally incompetent sale people. Supposed to have 2 alarms installed, one successful. One never installed, no call about appointment window, installer just shows up at 8am on Saturday at a business that doesn’t open until 10. Never returns a call all day– then charges my account for the installation fee.
My call to customer service:
«You never installed my second alarm, but you charged my account the money?»
Oh sir, I don’t see that in my records, I’ll have to contact the lying installer for their word.
«So I’m the customer that owns the unit, I’m telling you nobody ever installed the alarm»
I’ll have to get a case started on this one sir, I can’t verify the work was never done from my desk.
«So mr supervisor, what can you actually do??? I want my money refunded by the end of the day of I will elevate this to the next level. «

Great customer service. I am now changing my bank account information so they can no longer steal any more money from me! Theifs, liars, scam business, how will BBB like to hear this string of events.
Go to Bay Alarm, very nice people. Friendly and how about this one… knowledgable.

Garbage customer service. All the other Unilocal reviews were spot on. Gave me a 4 hour window in which they were supposed to show up. I asked for a courtesy call 30 minutes prior to the tech showing up. I called both the office and the national office prior to my appointment and confirmed everything. Tech didn’t show up. Upon calling the office, they had an incorrect address, incorrect phone number, etc. Garbage. No apologies, horrible.

AVOID!!! Started monitoring my business in 2012 using all ready existing equipment. Bottom line, my place got broken into twice where the crook walked around for over an hour and cleaned the place out before the motion detector went off. I had it all on video. Both times, they had a tech come out and check the system. The first time, he changed the motion detector. That did not help any, as the second break in proved.
This all happened in late of 2013. I moved onto another alarm company, Bay Alarm, who has been outstanding.
Still, for some reason, I was in a 2 year contract with ADT. I complained because they never did initially install equipment. They were just taking over their existing equipment. I bit the bullet and paid for the service for one more year until the contract was over and then I cancelled.
5 months after cancelling (that process took 3 repeat calls), I receive a notice from a collection agency about a balance due. This is after my insurance rates have skyrocketed because of the robberies and I had made a couple of calls to ADT billing and they told me to disregard the bal dues. Now, they are telling me that they are waiving the Bal Due and contacting the collection agency to take me off collections. Honestly, I don’t trust that will happen. It appears that I am headed for a bad mark on my credit report over a small bal due, which ADT has not earned.
Shame on me for not shopping these services correctly. I had used them on my house monitoring for over a decade. They used to be good but they got to big and clumsy.

Agree totally with all the bad reviews! Should have researched before i called for an appointment to discuss upgrade to my security alarm which is by Protection 1.
1. ADT charged $ 107.91 first on credit card for the appointment and it was explained that to be deposit only and not charged. When i get the email confirmation, the reference number i got said that i am a new customer and the appointment was for installation. What! the ref # is now my customer number and my credit card was charged.
2. When i called back to cancel after i got the email, i had to talk to the manager after on hold for 5 minutes. I told the manager, B.W. that i have an emergency and need to cancel. He tried to stop the cancellation by offering another $ 100 visa refund. I pleaded no because i have to eave and ask for a confirmation Number. His response, «oh, i thought you had to leave»; i just said i just need the CN, but he said there is no CN; so i asked if my credit card would be credited, he said yes. I am now skeptical and wonder if my credit card charge would be reversed. SO i will call my CC company and cancel the charge.
3. I also send ADT an email to cancel the appointment. They are supposed to reply in 24 hours.
Conclusion, DO NOT SIGN UP W ADT!

Having issues with the alarm going off inappropriately. I called the number they gave me for «technical support» and instead am confronted by a questioniare I cannot escape. I am asked if I want a «free» vacation and after not responding I cannot proceed to the technical support section. I’d like to somehow get out of my contract.
