I had no idea this store had opened until I got a flyer in the mail. I knew A&P had filed Chapter 11, but it was only after checking the ACME site that I learned they had bought several A&Ps in Dutchess County, including this one. Well, it’s better… Since they inherited an older store, there’s only so much they could do in terms of layout, lighting, aisle space, etc. So the aisles are still narrow, and the lighting is so-so. The inventory is generally good, particularly the meat department. Sale prices and loss-leaders are competitive, as are their own brands. Not much else is. One of the reasons I shopped here today was because of a good sale price on one particular produce item(cauliflower). When I got there, I noticed they had only devoted 1 shelf, about 30″ wide, to it, and less than 3 hours into the morning, they were already out of it. And it wasn’t for lack of anyone available to restock it, there were numerous employees working on produce. I like the fact that we have another grocery store chain in the area, and it’s relatively convenient for me. I’ll certainly watch their sale flyers, but the lack of all-around competitive prices won’t make this a one-stop shop for me.
