Cliff’s Auto Pro Shop

BEWARE!
We hired Cliff’s Auto Pro Shop to install a decoupler on our VW vanagon, modify the rear bumper to include a tow hitch, and paint the bottom rail with bed-​liner. We paid $ 1,700 for these services and Cliff’s Auto Pro Shop failed to perform these tasks in a satisfactory manner and even caused additional damage to the transaxle.
The welding of the bumper was done in such a manner that the rear license plate hatch is no longer functional. It was not attached to the car upon delivery and cannot even be put back on the car. The license plate is now screwed to the back of the vehicle, making it impossible to check the oil and fluid levels without taking out a screwdriver and removing the plate.
Concerning the paint job, there was extensive overspray, poor preparation and missed spots.
The decoupler is a vacuum operated device used to take the Vanagon out of four-​wheel drive for normal on-​road operation. Yes, the decoupler was bolted onto the transaxle but the vacuum lines were never installed, and there is now a grinding in both forward and reverse at low speeds. Moreover, the «granny gear» was completely inoperable upon delivery resulting in a complete replacement of the transaxle.
The work that was done in his shop and performed by Cliff and his «techs» was substandard, sloppy, and totally unacceptable. We have sought reimbursement from Cliff for the expenses: $ 7,472.65. Cliff has totally ignored this request, and has, by way of response, hired an attorney to threaten me with retaliatory litigation because of my complaints and posting on Unilocal. I would advise those who deal with Cliff and his auto repair shop to consider this posting and take appropriate caution.

Cliff is an honest hard working and fair priced mechanic. He’s a people service orientated man.
He and his crew are as good as it gets.

I called this shop yesterday, got a quote to have 2 drums machined, both of which were already off the vehicle. The guy I spoke to gave me a price, and told me to come down, and that I would need to leave them with him for a few hours. Ok, great, sounds good. I go down about an hour after I talked to him and the door is locked with a sign on the door saying they are not taking any new major jobs. There is a middle eastern man standing out front, who didn’t bother to respond when I said hello, or to move out of the way while I tried to avoid rubbing up against a car in front. When I tried to open the doors and they were locked, I asked him why, and he responded quite rudely «The sign says they aren’t taking new jobs». I told him I just talked to someone an hour ago who told me to come down, and he didn’t even respond, just stood there looking at me.
So I went down to another shop next door who was able to help me out. I’ll be putting a review of them up separately.
I’d avoid going to Cliff’s, not a good experience when others next door to him willing to help, and are nicer to people.

I had an appointment at 9 this morning and I drove all the way down from Vacaville, which is an hour drive, only to find that the shop wasn’t open and he was nowhere to be found. Next time I’ll take my car to a professional who shows up to the appointment. Very disappointed. Ended up taking my car to Mike’s next door and he was very helpful and fixed my car for me.

This is no ordinary shop and the only shop I trust. Cliff won’t rip you off or give you the run around. He’s been a mechanic for years so he really knows his work, he is efficient and you can tell he cares about his customers and they’re cars. He’ll work late hours and maybe weekends to make sure the job get done. He’s wife is SOOO nice and works the front desk.
It’s pretty much like your friendly Ma and Pa Auto Shop :)

Wow! Cliff you are amazing! I found my new mechanic. I had taken my Acadia to the dealer and the quote I received to fix the AC and repair an oil leak was way more than I could afford. Two friends of mine on different occasions gave me Cliff’s number. I called. It was just before Hot August Nights and he was slammed with cars. I needed my car fixed so we could drive on our vacation and needed it soon. He not only got it done for our vacation, it was done so affordably! To top it off he buffed out my headlamps and gave my car a polish! Now that’s what I call service. We drove hundreds of miles without any problems or worries! It’s nice to know that good old fashioned service is alive and well at Cliffs Auto Pro!

You worry about car repair places overcharging you? Not this place! Very nice guys and they even drove out to jump my car for free. Wow!

Cliff has been my mechanic for 13 years! I can’t say enough wonderful things about his skills and kindness. Previously I never felt like I could trust a mechanic to be honest with me and do whats needed. I trust that Cliff will do at least whats needed and offer to do more if I want. He also helps educate me about what he will do on my car and why, before he does it! Highly recommended. Five + stars!

So it’s 100% on a Sunday night, only one in town willing to stay open wait and save me, is cliffs. So nice and friendly. Because of them I can take my son and 5 kids on a field trip tomorrow!!! I will get all services here today on! Thank u guys :))

Outstanding job on my BMW 3 series! Was on the area on business and Cliff was recommended. Since I hadn’t found anyone I liked in Vegas I paid him a visit and was throughly satisfied with the service. Busy shop with friendly attentive staff. If your car is out of warranty this is where you should have it serviced. I will bring mine back next year.

Found Cliff’s shop because it’s right next to the Big O tires where I purchased new tires. Cliff’s work is top notch! He has now serviced my 1996 Toyota Camry for timing belt, water pump, belts, brakes, new front left axle. All done as promised on the day promised, and have had no issues. Also services my 2002 Honda Odyssey: power steering high pressure hose replacement, brakes/​rotors, stabilizer bar, among other things. He’s even given me some of these services at cost. Recently, after the Toyo timing belt change, he gave my Odyssey a free oil/​filter change. He is not a personal friend, but respects me as a regular customer. Marcelo assists him. He’s short on personality, yes, but an excellent mechanic, and always very accommodating. The prices here are very reasonable, and certainly well below dealership and many other shops… and the quality is outstanding. A few times I’ve gone in with complaints of noises, and they put it right on the rack and taken a look. What more could you ask for? It brings back memories of days when your neighborhood mechanic knew you as a local, and truly valued your continued business. and that’s just what Cliff and his shop will get. Well done!

I recently bought a used car that needs a little bit of work done, and I’m on the quest to find a good mechanic in the area. I found Cliff’s Pro Auto on another website called
, and their prices seemed lower than many other mechanics in the area, so I decided to give them a shot.
Big mistake.
I called the shop yesterday morning to get a quote on a couple services. The person who answered the phone was super professional, patient with my questions, and otherwise very helpful. I was excited because this seemed like a good sign. We were unsure as to what work I was going to want done, so the plan was to look the car over when I got there. I asked if I could bring my car first thing in the morning on my lunch break, and if they could give me a ride back to work. He said it would be no problem.
So I go down there on my lunch, and there’s only one person working in the shop, named Marcelo. He saw me standing around, but did not greet me. I finally chased him down, but he had no idea I was coming or what I would want. It seemed like it was the first day he has ever worked in a shop. He was obviously unprepared to talk with me about my car, and couldn’t give me a ride back to work anyway, so I left.
In the end, I wasted my lunch break and gas to drive down there for nothing. If you’re going to take appointments for service then you’d better honor them. And if you want to get into the business of customer service, then you need to serve your customers!
That’s what I get for trying to cheap out.

I called numerous shops in the area for quotes. They gave me a price and that I could bring it in Monday (I called Thursday afternoon). A few moments later Cliff himself called me and asked if I brought it in that day they would have it ready the next day (which it was). To replace a clutch kit on my Mazda j know it will take a good portion of the day. He called next day and said it was ready. Cliff was straight forward on the work with no shady tactics. Next issue I have with my Mazda I will give this place a call

All 5 star ratings, really? ABSOLUTELY!!! I’m always concerned about getting repairs done, now I feel much better knowing a great honest mechanic in the area.
He did the work requested, didn’t try to up-​sell anything. I even got a quote for a larger repair that was 25% lower than a big name shop. My car is going here from now on, no questions.

As a female I am always wary, for good reason, about taking my car in… for anything. Cliff’s came recommended to me by a patient at my facility and I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else, ever.
Cliff’s fixed my brake pads, does my oil changes, fixed a belt (or something), put on new tires. I don’t know much about car repair, but I do know about shopping around, price checking and consulting my auto expert friend from another state. Cliff’s was upfront, honest, helpful and real. I’ve used Cliff for years and can say that he and his shop are the best experience I’ve ever had with an automotive company. I own DIMPLES Paintless Dent Removal and know what attention to detail and quality service is supposed to look like. I highly recommend this company for all of your automotive needs and his pricing is far better than the other shops I tried before finding him. Cliff is also well entrenched in the community and can refer you to someone that will do the right job if you come to him with something that is out of his realm of repairs. I feel that’s as important as being as good as he is. The ability to give you accurate, sound, and knowledgeable advice. All in all you can’t go wrong with Cliff’s Auto Pro Shop… just ask his customers when you swing in!

I have been going to Cliff for years… he has always been honest and fair. He has kept my junker running and advised me when it was not safe to drive it. His prices are affordable. Over the years I have come to rely on Cliff and to completely trust his judgement.

I found Cliff’s on google… We were considering purchasing a used vehicle from a dealer close by and we wanted to get it checked out first. Cliff was able to fit us in that same day. He and 2 other guys looked the car over and put it up in the garage. They showed us everything that was wrong (a long list) and the things had been repaired/​patched (the work was done very badly). He advised that we not purchase the vehicle, and we were more than happy to take his advice. Best part was… he didn’t charge us for the visit.
All the guys were very knowledgeable and friendly. They were honest, and we really appreciated that before we threw a lot of money in to a piece of junk! We will definitely be back to Cliff’s…

I found out about Cliff’s by word of mouth. Turns out everybody was right. Cliff is amazing. He’s efficient, fast and super nice. Fair prices. Can’t ask for a better mechanic. He’s the only one who I give permission to touch my car.
