Sparkles Laundry of Playa Del Rey

The staff that works here are very friendly. I use to come here to do my laundry when I lived in a condo in Playa del Rey. The cool thing is that they have a Yum Yum donut shop, Subway and Good Pizza nearby.
They have a good amount of washers for regular size and larger size loads. I’ve never had anything stolen but I usually watch my laundry and do not leave it unsupervised. A few of the dryers are reserved for the wash and fold service.
I recently used their wash and fold service for my three California King sized comforters since my washer and dryer at home cannot handle large loads. Only was charged $ 25 each and was available for pickup the following day since I dropped them off too late. When I picked them up they were nicely folded and in plastic bags. Perfect for storing if not going to be used for awhile.

I love this place. I always feel safe & it’s just super convenient that they accept credit cards. The lady’s that work their during the day are extremely friendly & sweet. Last load is at 12am, so it’s available all night!

Credit card and quarter machines worked great. Clean. No issues. It’s a laundromat and acted just as such.

Credit cards do work actually, sometimes they are out. Dyers are cheap, clean and good pizza nearby!

First time here, Small and clean! I loved the machines take credit cards as well as coins, made it so much easier!

Credit cards no longer work here so you have to use quarters. There is a change machine and a vending machine to buy soap and fabric softener. Not attendant on duty. The women who work there work for contractor that does and fluff and fold.
Very warm inside due to the huge dryers and no air conditioning.
Washers are expensive and keep going up a quarter every few months. Used to be
$ 2.00 recently but now $ 2.50 or $ 2.75.
Dryers are 20 cents for 8 minutes. A good deal.
Free wifi and one TV with a bench in front of the TV. 3 or 4 plastic chairs you can sit in either inside or outside.
Go on an off time as this place gets busy Sundays. In the same strip mall as Subway, the Good Pizza, and a donut shop so you can eat while you do your clothes.
Parking can be tight as there are not too many spaces for all the businesses in thhis mini mall.
Why do I go here? It is reasonable and takes much less time than doing 2 or 3 or 4 loads of laundry at home. I can be in and out of here in one hour or 1 ¼ hour.
This is in Playa del Rey which is fairly mellow so no issues with stolen clothing.
The customers are reasonably friendly. I have not had any problems here.

Machines that break — wash cycle and credit machines.
Dryers that do NOT dry.
Rude attendants, especially a woman named Ana.
Don’t waste your time or money here.
Go just west to ACE DRY CLEANERS & COIN Laundry where you will be treated kindly, get your money’s worth of service AND encounter friendly staff.

I hate being taken advantage of, so when I was told, after loading, that the credit card machines aren’t working I asked why there was no sign. I was told signs are frequently placed by customers but taken down by owner, who wants people to get stuck with their laundry in the machine before finding out its cash only. Poor business ethics.

Sparkles keeps it clean, floors, machines, counter tops. Nothing worse than getting your gear skunked by a nasty machine. Anna, who works there is sweet and will help you with anything you may need. A little pricey but they have CC options on all the machines and their change maker almost always works. Sparkles is my new Airbnb friend, when you have to strip and make 3 or more beds in 2 hours there is nothing quite as awesome as having it all done in 48 minutes… Boom!

I’ve been coming here once or twice a week for the last two months. While I don’t have much to compare it to, I must say that I tried going to a different laundry mat while running errands today and was completely shocked at the difference. Sparkles is in a nice, safe neighborhood with restaurants, a grocery store, mailbox place, and other things to keep you occupied while waiting. There is also free wifi available. Their machines accept credit cards and/​or coins. What a luxury! The employees are friendly and helpful. The place itself is rather small so it can get crowded at certain times of the day, but has never been terribly over-​crowded. The parking lot is a decent size but can be busy because of all the other businesses there. They do have a wash and fold service, which I have not personally used.

Credit Card readers on machines constantly broken. Machines increasingly out of order seems like they need a better service level agreement.

I take my clothes here for wash and fold when my husband and I are too busy. Time is money to us and the rates here aren’t that bad. It used to be $.99 per pound but recently went up so we don’t take it as often.
Either way the staff is very nice and do a great job of washing and folding the clothes. Every item comes back with no damages or wrinkles and even hang outerwear and collar shirts.
I’ve definitely found my wash and fold place, but Now must find a legit dry cleaner in the area.

Great service. Delivered 2 small laundry bags here around 3:00pm. The laundry was all ready for pickup around 6:30pm. All laundry was nicely folded in a transparent bag. All this was only 25 bucks. Highly recommended.

I go there one week and it’s 99 cents a pound for fluff and fold, I go there this week and they’ve covered up the window stating the price with a piece of paper and now say it’s $ 1.25 a pound. I took my laundry back at that price! No way. I can do a delivery service for $ 1.60 a pound. I gave them a second star because when I DID take my laundry in, they did a fine job. But I won’t be back for fluff and fold. Way to jack up the price on customers with no notice! I was there a week ago and was not notified that the price would be increasing. Talk about bad business.

Washers and dryers are really good. Friendly staff. I can tell the dryers’ vents are cleaned often as well. Good location because you snack while waiting. It is in the same shopping center as Subway, pizza place, yum yum, and liquor/​market.

Love their fluff and fold. I bring in my dirty laundry for 99 cents a pound and get it back nice and folded in bags. Takes one or two business days. If you bring it on Thurs or Sunday it’s only 84 cents a pound. Bargain!!!

I have had a pleasant experience every time. Anna always goes above and beyond to get my fluff and fold order completed in a timely manner!

If you’re a clean freak, this review is for you:
My washer was down for maintenance, so me the clean freak was forced to face my fears: public laundry.
I haven’t been to a laundromat in years. Like over a decade. I’ve always made sure to live where there is a washer and dryer in my rented abode. Because of convenience and my clean freak nature. You never know what’s been in that public washing machine… Hopefully no one’s dog poop particles were in the washing machine I used…
INTERIOR: This place wasn’t half bad. The minute I entered, I was looked for an attendant. I read online that laundromats with an attendant tend to be cleaner than those without. And thank goodness there was.
WASHING: The smallest washing machine costs $ 2.25 (for one load). And will go up to $ 6 for up to 5 loads. I wouldn’t call it «coin laundromat» considering that everything is more than a couple bucks to wash. More like «dollar laundromat.» They’ve got a dollar-​to-​coin changing machine in the back.
DRYING: I took all my washed loads to dry at home.
ENTERTAINMENT: There’s a television in the back for you to enjoy. They had it on the sports channel when I went. Perfect for the guys. For the ladies, walk next door for the beauty supply store (Beauty Shack, Inc). If you’re hungry, go to the market on the other next door. There’s also free Wi-​Fi available if you want to study there. By the way, there’s no place to sit and study so not sure what the point of Wi-​Fi is?
CONCLUSION: I’d come back here if my washer is down again. But the laundromat space is limited, so come during slow hours. Especially when I went, a couple machines were out of order.

I came to Sparkles for the first time this morning.
I had to wash a comforter and utilized one of their medium sized washers, which was $ 3.50 and had a 30 minute wash cycle.
I came early and was pretty stoked to find that Sparkles offered Free Wi-​Fi service, Code: Sparkles.
The comforter I was washing was quite large. The comforter had a few stains that I needed out and the washer did the trick.
I put the comforter into their large dryer and it was dry in just about 20 minutes. In 20 minutes it was so dry it was almost too hot to touch.
This place is quite small and if you come here during prime time you will have to wait to do your laundry.
The aisles are quite narrow and you will constantly have to moving from side to side to let people pass.
While I was here I did see a scale and sign offering fluff & fold service, how much they charge I am not sure.
Other than the above, I was pleased overall.
This Laundromat shares its lot with several other businesses including a Liquor Store and a Yum Yum Donuts.
