Specialties
At Kahnke Brothers Tree Farm, we grow a huge selection of trees, shrubs and perennials. Our trees are available potted or ball and burlap. Fruits, evergreens, ornamental grasses and native plants are all available. We sell our plants to everyone at wholesale prices. Our nursery is open to the public from May — November, on Saturdays from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM. We also schedule appointments to help people individually, Monday through Friday. Our staff is small, but we know our stuff. Whether you need design or cultural advice, we are equipped to help. Planting and delivery services are also available.
We also host two auctions each year, one in May and one in September. At these auctions, we sell B&B trees and potted shrubs in small lots to competitive bidders. There are no minimums or reserves. Please contact us or visit our website for more info.
History
Established in 1993.
Kahnke Brothers Tree Farm was established in 1993, buy its parent company, Kahnke Brothers, Inc. The three Kahnke brothers actually started their business with the help of their father, Warren Kahnke, in 1969. They were just kids and had to pay an adult to drive them around. From their humble beginnings, mowing lawns and shoveling snow, the brothers have grown their company into a major player in the commercial landscaping and irrigation industry. Our nursery is used to produce high-quality plants for our company’s own commercial landscape installations. We also sell these plants to the public and to other contractors and resellers.
Meet the Manager
Connie K.
Manager
I have been working for Kahnke Brothers Inc. since 2002. I started out watering plants at «Nature’s Bounty Garden Center». My tasks grew to include ordering and organizing the plants. I ran small potting crews and supervised plant care. From there, I got involved in using labeling and P.O.S. systems and took over the bulk of our marketing efforts. My education in sales, marketing and radio broadcsting proved useful as I took on these different tasks. I attended industry conventions and seminars to learn all about horticulture. Eventually, I was managing the garden center. I bought products from 50 wholesale and consignment vendors and displayed them. I did that hectic job for a year. In fall of 06′, the brothers closed the store. I came out here to the farm, where I still run computers and take care of marketing. I also pull orders, load trucks and supervise the growing of shrubs and perennials. I am now a MNLA Certified Professional & a MnDOT Certified Landscape Specialist.
