Allphin’s Bar B Que & Smokehouse

Our first time here. We asked the locals and the gal working what they recommend. They all unanimously said the chicken fried steak. It was very good.
I wasn’t a fan of the fries though. Very greasy. They tasted like the fries the fat food chain Long John Silvers serves.
We also ordered banana pudding. It was good but nothing special.
It’s a cute hole in the wall restaurant. Worth the visit. Stop by if you are in the area.

Absolutely what you want for BBQ. Go out of you way to eat here.

This is a place that you can miss at the blink of an eye. It’s way off the street on 105 on the eastern outskirts of Plantersville. There seems to be construction where it looks like 105 is being widened but the project is at a standstill or something. Just use your GPS or iPhone. Hehe
Aside from the fact that it is family owned and a cool employee about the age of 10 rung us up some locals were eating as well so we could see what they had. We always peek around like that.
I can tell you right now, the combo sandwich with sliced beef & sausage was devastatingly evident of the BBQ talent in Plantersville Texas, if this place hasn’t already set some record like that already. I suspect they have. The walls are totally cool to look at here as not only do they have a huge amount of John Wayne photos, I think they may be related to him or something. The majority of the photos are from the local county fair agriculture award winners.
As a Unilocaler with pretty close to 1000 reviews soon, I can say that out of all of them, you’ll find a fun BBQ experience here. Way, way too many places are selling what they call «bbq» that has been molested in some sense of the term, like places that cook the meat «half the time» in an «over». Which is called «cheating» in bbq and as well as common life. They obviously do not «cheat» here as the sliced beef exhibited a smoke ring that could not be faked. And yeah, it was meat candy on extremely fresh as in from that day, bread. Fresh crispy local yellow onions and the sauce had a surprising, treasure hunt type of find thing taste. This right here is the BBQ that stands up and speaks for Plantersville Texas.
While eating we chatted a little with some local patrons whom were enjoying some of the most killer looking Chicken Fried Steaks I have ever seen and they noted that they had been eating here like for 5 years or so since this opened. Take your camera and I think it’s a real safe bet that you will leave here full of very extremely specific local, woods area bbq. The sauce. Oh the sauce. They don’t automatically give you extra and that’s cause you don’t need it. Almost magical use of chili pepper that will sneak up on you. Bobby Flay should go by here, seriously.
