Planet Beach Contempo Spa

I’m pretty much an addict. I started my membership a few weeks ago and now I’m addicted.
Just to give some context, all of the services you have to do at least a few times before you start to see results. Below are my 3 favorites.
Hydration Machine: You basically lay down for 30 minutes and it steams and you sweat. It makes your skin a lot softer. I told my boyfriend about all of this and he’s like yea yea, it’s all in your head. About 2 weeks later, he was grabbing me during sexy time and was like damn, your skin is softer than normal. Exfoliation and this works wonders.
Beauty Angel: This machine is red light therapy. I have tinea versicolor on my chest and upper back which it’s supposed to help. I’ve tried prescription creams, selsun blue and a bunch of other stuff. This and the hydration machine along with tea tree soap have made it go away all together. The tea tree helped a little on it’s own (tea tree kills fungus), but the beauty angel and hydration do the rest. If you DON’T have skin problems (mine is very minor, but still annoying), you’ll still love this… I come out with this natural glow every time.
Chair Massage: I know, you roll your eyes at the thought of a chair massage… This is different. It’s not like the ones in the mall or the nail salons. It actually might be better than a regular massage because it massages so many places at once. I used to be a competitive gymnast and now sit at a desk all day so my body has suffered lots of damage and get headaches FREQUENTLY. I haven’t gotten a headache from the 3^rd time doing this chair simply because the knots in my body have started to go away.
I should be getting my sauna suit one day this week, so I’m excited to try the slim capsule and the sauna.
And if that’s not enough… you feel like a princess when you leave here AND the girls are just so sweet. I absolutely LOVE this place.

It has taken me so long to write this review because I was so conflicted about it. While I wanted this to be a shooting 5 star review, this is the unfortunate truth.
I have been looking for somewhere that had the Mystic HD Spray tan machine. This is one of my favorite sprays because they color is great and very even, and I always get very dark. I have used the machine at least 10 times. I also worked at a tanning salon for 6 years. I have been to other Planet Beach locations and used this machine as well. I have some experience with this stuff. I called and was informed they had it. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very nice and informative. She told me it was $ 40 plus whatever the level of color would be. I made an appointment for the next day.
I got on Unilocal and noticed the had a $ 40 for $ 90 deal. I decided to purchase it after reading the disclaimers, thinking I could get 2 spray tans.
The appointment was for the day before my law school graduation.
I showered that morning, shaved, exfoliated my skin and went in bare and ready to get dark! When I got there, there was a nice woman, but she wasn’t the one I had spoken to on the phone. I signed in and informed her of the deal I had purchased. She first told me that it wasn’t available at that location. I said that was weird because it was on her location’s Unilocal page. She merely said oh and then she told me it didn’t work on spray tans. I found this very odd, because the disclaimer said it worked on all services offered…
She sensed my frustration and said she would give me 4 services under the deal instead of the 3 it normally covered. I reluctantly agreed. I had never done any of the other services at a Planet Beach. The woman informed me she would choose the services for me… oh okay. I believe she meant to do this so I could try everything out, however it was very forceful. I made the appointment for the other services and she set me up for the spray.
She asked me what color I wanted and I said dark, dark, dark. This was the only discussion we had about the color.
She escorted me to the room and left me.
I got ready for the spray got in and started the machine. Right away I new something was wrong. I could barely feel the spray. It was way too light. And I couldn’t see a color difference at all. I wasn’t even damp when I got out of the booth.
I thanked the woman and left. I decided not to say anything because I wanted to see how the color developed. 6 hours later and there was nothing on my skin. I wasn’t any darker at all. I have a ring on my finger that is permanent. I twisted it up and there was no tan line. I also left my hair tie on accidentally. I moved it and there was no tan line.
I decided to call the salon to inform them. I wasnt looking for another spray or my money back. I just wanted to tell them that something might be wrong with their machine. i played phone tag with them for a couple of tries.
I finally spoke to a woman, who I believe was the initial girl I had spoke with over the phone. She was very nice and and I informed her of my problem. At this point she tells me that the color was a clear color. Many people like this because it doesn’t stain your clothes and looks more natural. However, this color DOES NOT WORK ON ME AT ALL. I have known this for years. If I had been informed of this prior, I would not have done the spray to begin with. She offered for me to come back and tan again, but it is a little farther than I had time to drive to. She told me they had never received complaints about the spray, but that she would inform the owner. I thanked her and that was it. I didn’t hear from anyone.
I went in a week later for my other services. I walked in and it was the same woman who had been there when I went to spray. She was nice enough, but when she went into my account and asked how my spray turned out I told her. She was responding to my statements as though I didn’t know what I was doing and informed me that clear always shows up about 6 hours later. I told her I knew this, but that clear didn’t work on me. She then made another statement that tried to explain it to me. I told her I worked at a tanning salon and knew how it worked.
I went through and did a hydro massage, which was great. I did the red light therapy facial with body massage which was decent. I did the angel thing that was red light therapy booth with vibrating platform. This was fun. I also did the full hydration body steam booth. All the services were fun. I don’t know if any of them worked because I only did one session each. I will say, I don’t like that they are all only a couple of minutes long. By time you start to relax and enjoy it, it is over with.
The prices if you aren’t a member are high. Then there are so many add ons that just keep increasing the price.
Some people love this place, other people dislike it. I won’t be back. It just isn’t my cup of tea.

I feel like a new person! The ladies are knowledgable, friendly and so sweet! The treatments are amazing! The place of very clean and don’t forget to try the hydro bed 10 stars if I could!

Friendly staff and really clean boutique spa. Went last week and really enjoyed the hydro massage (I think that’s what it’s called) it was really relaxing.

Place is really nice. upon my arrival i was greeted with a nice tour of place and the owner christine really made me feel comfortable and relaxed. if you are ever in town please drop in. you will not be dissapointed…5 star approval from me!

Drove all the way out here — it’s 340 and the doors are locked. Says place closes at 4. Based on that alone I won’t be back!

I was welcomed by a nice associate Christine. She explained a little and was going to give me a tour but I didn’t receive it? I used the bathroom to wash my face with product I bought and when I got back went straight into massage. Also the sample size products I bought were 25 dollars it was not mandatory but I was a sucker for it. I tried my Groupon voucher I received a massage in a chair with red light facial. Then a red light body heat capsule spa. The massage chair was ok with the red light facial on your face at the same time was not as relaxing because the light was so bright. You also can hear other things going on from other rooms. Each room should have its own relaxing music unless it’s extra I don’t know? The red light facial was helpful I felt because I have acne and skin discoloration, but should not be done with massage at same time. I think that’s to save time on your appointment? The red light body heat capsule spa was a little uncomfortable you lie on hard plastic nude and it shakes a little. Again also no music. You feel like an alien. Once done felt thirsty. The next day I happen to weigh myself before grocery shopping and found I lost 3 lbs. I still have 2 more sessions to use hopefully it can only get better. I like it’s automated and timed some hands on places can cheat your time. Can’t wait thanks.

While Planet Beach wants to come off as a great spa they are more like a dollar store barbie. This place is a scam! Whether you pay full price or use a groupon they will find a way to milk more money out of you. Every «treatment» has an added cost, from paying extra for a cartridge for the spray tan or an extra $ 50 for the teeth whitening you will walk out of there with a lot less in your wallet. I get this is a business but must you nickel and dime people put all the costs up front. Save yourself the trouble go to a real spa and know what you are paying for and how much.

This place is a ripoff! I won a «package» at a charity auction that included 5 cards for three free services on each; two $ 50.00 gift certificates and the items for a sunless tanning session which was supposed to be a $ 700.00 value. When I got to the «spa» I was told I could only use one of the service cards and I should give the rest to my friends. Then I was charged $ 14.00 for the creams for the facial and they also took one of the gift certificates for G-​d knows what. The first thing I got was the «facial» which included me washing my own face in their bathroom and sitting under a light for ½ an hour. Then I was treated to a hydro massage; which was just like the ones at the chiropractors office and the jade hot rock massage that was nothing more than laying on a big heating pad. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired. If I am paying for any type of spa service I expect the rooms to be somewhat relaxing. All I heard were the other machines in the building and people’s conversations. Then at the end they wanted me to give my friends information to them so they could come in for three free services. Yeah right like I’m going to give that info out. The only thing about the experience is that a worthy charity got the money.

I love going here whenever I get a chance to. There are so many different options to choose from! The staff is very friendly, and it’s always clean! One service alone is worth the money, and he best part is that you can do multiple services in one day with a membership! Totally worth every penny! Everyone should have a membership here!

This is «The Best Planet Beach Spa,» ever! I recently moved from Northern California and was seeking to renew my Planet Beach membership. When I located one near my new home in Tamarac, I was amazed to see the variety of services offered at this Spa, that I never had seen in California. This is literally a «Top of the Line» Contempo Spa that is well managed and maintained, and each Client is made to feel «Special» and important. I highly recommend checking out this location to see all the healthy and relaxing services provided. As men and women, we need to treat ourselves well… both, mind and body! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain… just check it out, you will not be disappointed!
