La Quinta Inn & Suites Plantation at SW 6th St

I really thought La Quinta Inns would be better than this place. Very outdated and unclean throughout the place. Our room had stained carpet and a very smelly bathroom which they did fix after I complained. The free breakfast was not vey well stocked and always out of one thing or another. On a positive note the staff was very nice.

My wife recommended La Quinta because they «allow dogs». Since I was getting my house tented for termites and this hotel was centrally located I booked it without even thinking. Big mistake. The place is an absolute dump. There were stains all over the floor and the bed sheets were absolutely filthy. It was without a doubt the worst hotel experience of my life. I made it until 8:30 pm the first night before opening up the Unilocal app to find another place to stay. Lo and behold, plenty of hotels take pets and we were on our way out the door. But not before almost getting robbed out in the parking lot. Plantation police, you’re doing an excellent job for the community! Never again will I stay at a La Quinta.

I have stayed here every month for literally years. Overall it’s a decent hotel you get what you pay for. However my last 3 stay have really gone down! This last stay will be my LAST stay.
First reason is the last 3 times I’ve been here there have been multiple police cars at some point talking to prostitutes working out of the hotel.
And last two visits the man who works at the front desk named ANDREW seems to disappear for long periods of time through out the night. I’ve several times seen people just sitting there waiting for him to come back and they will tell me They have been there 20 minutes or more. He’s disappeared so long before I’ve walked behind the desk and tried to figure out how To make my own room card. I had access to all the guest information if I wanted to and it as at least 15 min before he finally showed up. Never once apologizing or acting like there was a problem.
Once again today our key was demagnetized and we went downstairs he was again gone. 25 mins later he still hadn’t showed up? We even called customer service and they couldn’t help. When Andrew finally showed up we got no apology or acknowledgment. I called
Downstairs and let him know I was in the hallway for 30 mins and this hadn’t been the first time, no apology or anything, and said next time I would be complaining to his manager. With total attitude he said I could call the managed right now. I said great let’s not wait put him on the phone, he said I had to call him, I ask for the number and he hung up on me! So I called back and said managers number? He said I could have his email I said ok he said is have to come
To the front desk to get it. I asked why? He said it’s not my job to give it to you then hung up on me again. I called back a third time and he immediately hung up on me again!!!
I was shocked! I have never been treated so blatantly disrespectfully and by someone
so incredibly incompetent. He clearly cares nothing about his job and if he is still
Working here my next trip that will be my last stay here EVER.
My husband went down and ask to apology for hanging up on my he said he wouldn’t and he would have US KICKED OUT
IN AN HOUR! Then called his manager telling him we were being a problem, my husband asked to speak with his and Andrew tells him «not in my phone!!!»
Unbelievable disrespectfully incompetent

Very dissipoiting and deceiving … we reserved a room and when we got there they let the person who was already there stay and they cancelled our reservation. Tried giving us another room and when we went to check it out we could not believe what we saw. The hallway had a BIG NASTY cigarette butt on the ground and the second I walked into the room there was the awful heavy stench of smoke. AND it was weird to see the tv on and the bed messed up with the tv remote on it like someone was hanging out in there. Better room and service at courtyard across street.

Great place to stay with pets! We left another hotel after a bad experience all around, and have never been happier. This hotel had everything we needed for our five night stay. The double bed room was large, with two small love seats and a nice flatscreen tv, desk, microwave, mini fridge, and a good size bathroom. The air conditioner worked well, so our room was always nice and cool coming in from the heat. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The continental breakfast included cereals, oatmeal, muffins, toast, bagels, fresh fruit, and juice. They also had a waffle maker and 24 hour coffee service. We enjoyed the pool, and the grounds were nice overall, with lots of grassy areas around to walk the dog. The only negative comment I can make is that we had to get our room key reset a few times because it got deactivated easily, presumably by proximity to cell phones. The location is great, next to a mall and lots of restaurants, and a nice movie theater. Thank you bringfido for helping us find this one!

I would still not recommend this hotel to anyone but I did want to comment on la Quinta corporate. After reading my survey they refunded me the cost of one night.

This place was pretty nice.
The person in the front desk was very nice making check in very pleasant. The room was nice and clean – it was also very spacious. There were a lot of comfy seats and the beds were nice. It was also nice to have a microwave and mini fridge there.
The only problem in this room was a few things in the bathroom and the AC. The bathtub was a little rusty and had a few stands of hair around. The towel rack was also a little rusty as well. The AC didn’t seemlike it worked well since we were all sweating and found not much difference in temperature. Another problem was the elevator. There was only one elevator, so waiting for it seemed like it took awhile.
The breakfast was decent. It consisted of bagels, bread, waffles, and cereal. The breakfast area was a little tight though. Although, they were busy that night due to a tournament happening next door — so it was reasonable.

I got the hotel through Priceline express deals. The room I was given left something to be desired. The carpet was wet and humid and the tv had a major delay making it near impossible to watch it. Then came the noise. I was given an adjoining room. It wasn’t but 15 minutes into my stay that I heard noises from the room next door (I’ll leave it up to your imagination). It was like they were right next to me! Needless to say I requested a room change. The next room was better but again kind of blah. There was a large garbage bag next to my door for two days that no one bothered to clean up. The layout was also strange, you walk straight into the bathroom sink. The breakfast also sucked.

Really taken with this place. Will come again. Pleasant staff.
General — Going on a cruise and wanted a place to leave car for week. Those we cked that offered this accommodation did not pick up after the cruise. By the time we paid for a cab, tips and aggravation of getting away from pier it was not worth the small savings. Used this place and drove next day to Port parking nearby. La Quinta has a 6 PM same day cancelation policy and THEIR reservation people urged us to book a room and then cancel if we found something better after arriving in area, very savvy on their part, we usually use the original reservation. We get a price quote that includes ALL taxes and charges, amazing the stuff some places try to add to the bill. Join all the clubs like Hilton Honors, La Quinta Returns. Clerks recognize we probably know the ropes. Ask for discounts and give them a string of the usual AAA, etc. We use the coupon books you get at State line. Always ask to see the room prior to ck in. At this location was told «no problem, glad to change you to another room if you see something you do not like». We also tell the clerk we want a quiet night and ask if there are any weddings or large groups in the hotel. The way they answer tells us a lot. More than once, after asking, we were given a room away from possible noise. Weddings, reunions, religious conferences all seem to go brain dead when it comes to common courtesy at 1 AM, loud good nights, slamming doors, etc. Important, if noise gets out of hand call the desk and complain quickly and firmly, drunks in particular only get worse. Never yell at the clerk they usually are doing their best. Take the clerks name and have the clerk log your call. In the morning ask for the manager. We have gotten free nights after having documented an interrupted night’s sleep. If management ignores you get names and quickly write a concise factually letter to the President of the corporation, by name, amazing what can happen! Saying you will NEVER use a chain again over one incident is unfair and a waste of breath.
Pros — Large airy and clean, decorated in Florida pastels with whimsical round mirrors, pictures in theme of blue and white. Furniture is light weight and open. If you ever had to move a traditional heavy nightstand to find an arrant Tux stud you know how dirty it can be behind the furniture. Their furniture has high legs so you can see most of the carpet. The couch is almost a chaise lounge, nice touch. No odor, not even of cleaning agents, amazing when you consider they allow pets at La Quinta. They had blankets and not the heavy duvets which we find to be to warm. We were in room 209
Cons — the couch was worn but clean. The bathroom was very clean but the toilet had an annoying flush mechanism probably to save water. The AC worked great but caused a distinct draft when you were working at the desk. I placed the ironing board long wise against it as a baffle, worked great, pulled the same trick at a Ritz Carlton years ago. Not the best sound proofing so you hear your neighbors slightly. Left the AC on all night set for fan. The resultant white noise cut sounds of general traffic. TV is older model and some stations were not the best, not a war stopper. Curtains did not keep out all morning sun. Breakfast was very basic, little variety,
