Jacaranda Bar

Place needs new owner and staff, Bearded bartender is rude and prices for drinks are ridiculous for crappy service at a small stripmall divebar. I am a fan of divebars because of the hospitality you usally receive from small business’s but they dont care about being kind. R.I.P J BAR R.I.P…

I’ve been to J bar a couple of times now and both times I’ve had a really good time and good service (Joe and Sam behind the bar are great!). It’s a neighborhood dive-​ish bar — hit it on the right night and you’ll have a good time. They just started doing an open mic night on Wednesday, which is what I was there for last night. THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN! You can order food from the place next door. Smoke free. Easy parking.

The décor is nice, and the Karaōke is great, but service is horrible! Their servers/​staff are the rudest I have ever experienced! I saw people with little kids in the bar, but they harassed me and my son because he’s 18. He sat in the back on the sofa, using my computer while I enjoyed the Karaōke, but the staff kept bothering him with rude comments even though he was not attempting to get drinks, and only drank a Sprite that I had purchased for him.
There was a fat, bearded bartender at the bar. I was there as many of the crowd for the Karaōke began to leave, so the bar emptied out, and there were a lot of empty seats at the bar. I went and sat in one of them to watch and enjoy the Karaōke. This nasty bartender asked me what I wanted.
I said, «Nothing, I’m ok for now.»
He said, «This is a bar, sweetie. You sit at the bar, you order a drink! That’s how it works!»
I had already purchased drinks earlier while I was sitting at a table in the back, so I said, «Fine. I’ll go sit elsewhere.»
But ALL their staff is rude like this. I went there 2 – 3 times, because I was following the Karaōke group, but I will never go back.

Me and my buddies went to this place Saturday night and it sucked. It is super small and located in the middle of an obscure shopping plaza in an area which has no local nightlife. All it is, is 2 pool tables, a small bar, an outdated television and some old guy in the corner with a dj booth. There were a total of 2 people in the bar. The drinks are overpriced and the service is horrible. If you want to enjoy yourself and have better food, head to Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood.

Food is great, but the service is the worst I have experienced in a long time. They only had three servers for the entire restaurant, on a busy night, during dinner time. The waitress was in a rush to take our order and never brought our drinks. We had to flag down a waiter to get some assistance. The food too over thirty minutes to arrive. The man who seemed like the owner and was coming in and out of the kitchen didnt seem to be helping the rest of the staff. Maybe I came on a bad night, but I will not be coming back ever again.

Love it for a nice an quiet place for oneself… super awesome ;)
