Sears Auto Center

Called in the morning and made an appointment for oil change @ 4 pm. Dropped the car off right at 4 pm and they told me they closed at 5 pm. I came back at 5 and had to wait till 6 pm. 2 hours for oil change!!! Would be my first time and last time here.

Horrible service! First the service advisor Austin entered the wrong vehicle and tried to sell me wrong tires. Then after telling me it was in stock it wasn’t. Instead of 2 hours it took 4. After I left I noticed they installed incorrect wheel weights, They installed weights to the outside of a chrome rim! When I got on the highway it started shaking and was obviously out of alignment. They had aligned it too! Another Sears saw the weight problem and fixed it and the alignment. That wasted another 4 hours! Idiots

Man. I wanted to like this store a lot. But geeze, the process I went through certainly was a hassle.
First I shopped on
for a set of 4 tires for my 2012 honda pilot.
Then found 4 of the gy assurance comfort touring at this location. So I headed that way… Got to the location and the quote they gave me at the store was 300.00 higher than the sears online store (same tires, same services)… Luckily I pulled out my Ipad and showed the lady the online quote. and she matched it. But geeze… How wack is that !
Next my cashier went to the back to verify that my order was in stock… She came back and said it was, and told me to come back in an hour ½. I can back at the said time and notice they were just starting on my car… Well ok. So I probably have another ½ hr… Which really turned into another hour.
Finally my car is done. After settling up invoice wise, I go out to the car and chk the tires… One of the tires is wrong. (They put a gy assurance fuel max, instead of a comfort touring). I bring the manager out and show him the error. He rushes the car inside. and frantically tries to find the correct tire.
After about 15 minutes of looking he says they don’t have it… Tells me to go home and bring it back tomorrow after he picks one up from another store.
Ok. So I come back the next day (had to miss my sons soccer game).
And they put the tire on (that they acquired from the other store).
I go out to my car to chk… Well. It is the same «brand» gy assurance comfort touring. But the design is different.(maybe it’s last yrs model ?).
I don’t know… Now I’m just ready to give in and take my losses…
Problem points.
A. Online quote far different than store quote.
B. Poor/​no product verification by the cashier on the initial sale.
C. Poor/​no product verification when the installer is comparing pulled tires to the order.
D. Poor/​no verification when the product is delivered the second time. It’s very apparent all four tires don’t match.
Man. I wanted to like this place, but when I spend 1k on tires… I expect a little better than this. This experience is certainly reflective of a 1 star rating.

sucks i have to give it one star… had my tires rotated and a front end alignment… just left discount tire… sears failed to mention to me that one of my tires was coming apart… to top it off, they put one of my studs back on crooked and now it has broken off… just called store manager… didn’t even get an apology… the sears at Richardson Square did not tell me about a bad tire either a while back… i am done with Sears…

Bought a tire gauge online to pick up in store. For some reason, they didn’t have our order in the system. Supposedly their online system is completely different than their store system. Ok fine… bu, t I see the one I bought online 5 feet away from me.. .It took them 15 minutes to finally say screw the sytem! Haha finally got my tire gauge!

Pros:
–Used discount promo for a $ 14.99 conventional oil change (originally it would start at $ 29.99)
–No fuss, no muss. I just told them that I wanted a oil change and they did not try to up sell me anything else or try to convince me that my filter is dirty or that my windshield wipers needed to be replaced.
–Friendly staff. I think the guy who was helping me was called Austin. Really nice dude. I appreciate you, buddy!
Cons:
–I drive a Prius and realized that they didn’t bother to ask me if I needed to use special synthetic oil. (I later called back to double check, but Austin told me that the oil they used was «acceptable»)
–The technicians did not know how to reset my oil change light on my Prius. I had to do it myself via YouTube instructions. (Makes me wonder how much they know about Prius’?)
In the end, I liked the service and the price. However, I’m a little skeptical about their knowledge in hybrid cars. If you drive a normal car, you should be satisfied.

I bought Michelin Hydroedge tires from this Sears auto center several years ago. They are 90k mile tires, but currently have 60k on them. Sears offers lifetime rotation of the tires… but this time around, they informed me that the tires were not wearing correctly due to «under inflation» and that they would not rotate the tires any more. By the way, I am a car nut, and faithfully rotate my tires on schedule and if anything, keep them over-​inflated to get better mileage. The tires are wearing a bit on the edge, but have plenty of tread.
Brandyn the manager was unhelpful and told me to «have a nice day» after refusing to help me. Bottom line, Sears just wants you to buy new tires and refuses to stand by their word to provide services due to «company policy.» I’m guessing company policy won’t matter much longer if Sears continues to decline. They certainly don’t understand customer service. Don’t buy from Sears. Go to a Discount Tire or some other tire center that will stand behind their work. You deserve to be treated better than Sears will.
