Ridiculous customer service. i was talking to my parents while eating and I wasn’t looking at every single bite and spotted human hair in the curry, and politely informed to the manager on duty MANI, he did not even have the courtesy to say SORRY after noticing foreign object in the food and went to get a new plate as if it is OK. Behaved as if an Apology is not needed. Absolutely unacceptable Customer Service and also planning to report to health department about the unhygienic cooking environment

Love this place. Food is great and service is great too. I ordered lunch combination plate with all the small dishes on the side and it was incredible. I also ordered Dosa as well. Both of them were good. If each dish was $ 1 cheaper, I would have given solid 5 stars, but price is on the higher side for the food you get compared to other Indian restaurants.

This place doesn’t disappoint. Come here for my Indian food fix. It has a Family friendly environment. Generally quick service. I recommend the Rava dosa or the paneer butter masala. They have a great thali and combo menu as well.

I have been to most of the Saravana stores in America and this surely is one of the best. Service is friendly and prompt. For a place like Dallas the price point is a little high. The Combo plates and Dosas tasted really well.

Don’t think if Indian restaurants care about the review but thought would write one anyway. First off all, I have to compliment their awesome customer service. which is super rare at Indian food places. They would always have smiling faces and attend you immediately if you go in for a pick-up(which is what I do mostly). Secondly, they have amazing food. Tried few items and have never been disappointment. They specialize in south indian food so better to stick to that.

Waiters could not understand the order. They forgot what I ordered and gave it to me after 10 minutes. The food was ok, but the garlic naan was fresh and delicious

Not much more to say here than what everyone else has already mentioned. Slow service and they will give you every excuse in the book about why you waited 30 minutes for your bread to come out after you have munched on your dinner and basically lost your appetite waiting to eat it properly. I also found it a little more pricey than other places with a similar menu, it might be the location. Worth an experience if you’re taking someone who wants to try out a vegetarian Indian cuisine.

New to Southindian food. We tried their Masala dosa, Thali, and Goi 65. The Masala dosa has a potato filling inside and served with different mini dishes like lentils and yogurt. The thali had roti and puris served lentils, yogurts, achar. In all, I loved the food. I would recommend to people. Location is nice and clean. Customer service is good as well.

It’s too hyped to maintain the standards now. I’d give them few more months to settle and manage the crowd. The food is just average. There are other restaurants which offer better flavours in South Indian specialty. By the time our food reached our table it was like warm but this is common across other branches.

Saravanaa Bhavan that opened in Plano May 2015 was our choice for lunch with colleagues. Part of a global chain but doesn’t feel like a chain. Southern and Northern Indian vegetarian food. Open for lunch and dinner, daily. Open, bright and airy dining area. Really enjoyed the foods and its presentation. And I’m not a vegetarian. Enjoyed the spicy lentil soup appetizer, the potato-filled Masala Dosa, and Mango Lassi drink. Small Gripe: menu not available online.

I came here with a friend since he’s a big fan of this restaurant chain. I personally wasn’t impressed with either the food, and service. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good… but, you’re paying for the surroundings of the restaurant. For the quality of the food, this place is over charging… I’ve had better for cheaper pricing. As for their service, this is another thing… these people have no urgency or any type of experience to deal with their clientele. At times, my friends, and I waited for long time just to get a simple glass of water. Hell, if it wasn’t for one of us that decided to just go over to them directly… we wouldn’t have gotten our water. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with this restaurant at all. I can overlook the pricing of their dishes a bit if the service was good. But, no… I can’t on this place.

Good southern Indian food, reliable. Had the special meal(thali), Gobi 65, and my son had a masala dosa. Tasted just as at the Irving, TX and Delhi, India locations. Service is not perfect, but acceptable.

We(6 of us) went at 6.30pm on 12⁄29 and were seated appropriately and then started the struggle. We had to wait for 15 minutes to get their attention and then asked the staff to take the order as everyone was busy running around and no one bothered to ask us. Gave the order and waited for another 15 minutes. Finally order arrived. We asked for extra ghee and no one cared to bring anymore. Later one waiter stopped and said It Will Cost You Extra… ok so get it why wait 10 minutes! We had to ask for water multiple times because they don’t fill their water jugs completely. The girl(wait staff) made a face and didn’t care to offer more water. We thought the food was just ok. Nothing to go crazy about! The bottom line is that the service absolutely sucks because the owner/manager has not hired any professional wait staff. Not a single waiter is trained to work in a restaurant. They all look like college kids or family members forced to work and have no choice. People working here have no sense of Indian hospitality. I would definitely think twice before going here as there are many other good restaurants around Plano.

Went here for dinner on Christmas Eve. If you’re expecting great service don’t come here. We ordered Gobi 65 which is fried cauliflower. I thought it was ok. Didn’t taste like a true 65 dish. Of course they bring out the appetizer but no plates. We finally asked someone for plates and they gave us 2 for a party of 6. Math doesn’t seem to be their strong suit. My father-in-law was the only one not ordering a dosa. He ordered Combo number 2. He liked it. It had a mini masala dosa, kichdi and other items I forgot. Husband got the Mysore Masala Dosa. It was nice and spicy. Mother-in-law got the Rava onion dosa. Onions were a little burnt. My boys got the cheese dosas. The dosa was a little soggy. My eldest complained about it but they could care less. You’re wondering about my food? Oh yes… my paper masala dosa didn’t come out until half way through the meal. I kept on asking my waitress about it and she insisted it was coming. Meanwhile son got another dosa and it came out before mine. No sense of service here. My masala dosa had the potatoes on the side instead of it stuffed inside the dosa. Since when does masala dosas not have the potatoes stuffed in the dosa? Also got the Madras coffee. That was good. For the price and service, I’d rather go somewhere else where I’m getting the same thing for less. There are just as good dosa places out there that cost less money.

Went at 6pm on saturday. The only good part was we were seated appropriately and then started the struggle. Had to wait for 15 minutes and then asked the staff to take the order as everyone was busy running around and no one bothered to ask us. Gave the order and waited for another 15 minutes. By now its been 30 minutes we entered this place. Finally order arrived. We dint want the idli to be dipped in ghee, but it came with ghee dipped. Onion rava dosa had the entire onions burned. On top of all this one of the chutneys, tomato i believe was stale. I was so disappointed that for the first time i had to come out without leaving a tip on table !!! I would defintely think twice before going here as there are other good restaurants around plano.

This is part of the WW chains of Saravana Bhavan. If you like Indian veggie delicacies, then you will love this place. Items are very authentic and prepared fresh. The location at Plano, TX is brand new and is located at the intersection of TX121 and Preston with ample parking. South Indian dishes are the best here along with the famous Madras filter coffee. Items are certainly pricey! The medu vada that we had ordered were little cold. But the waitress graciously replaced them with new warm vada; staff is certainly friendly. Service is horribly slow!!!

I had lunch here today with an Indian friend/coworker and some other very American coworkers — we were the only non-Indians in the whole place(and it was packed) — that’s a good sign. We started off with Gobi 65, an outstanding spicy, battered and fried cauliflower that had been cut into very manageable pieces; if you didn’t know better, you might have thought it was buffalo popcorn chicken. The cauliflower struck a great balance between firm and tender, and the spice was just right. I could totally see eating this as a snack while watching football or at a party. For my main dish, I ordered the«special», which nets you a large diameter deep stainless steel platter with a number of small bowls inside. In the center is a large bowl of rice, and it’s finished off with a good size puris and another bread, papad, that reminded me of Munchos, if you’re old enough to remember those. As for the sauces in the little dishes, they included rasam, sambar, kootu, poriyal and koorma. Also present was some thick yogurt curd and raita, a thinner yogurt with cucumber. The kootu, a thicker dish made with lentils, was probably my favorite; it had a good spice and hearty flavor. Several of them were quite spicy, but none of them would take your head off, either. Finally, there was a sweet dish of sooji halwa, like a sweetened cream of wheat. I’m certainly not an Indian food expert, but I could tell that these were very good quality dishes, and the room full of Indian diners seem to support the notion that good things are happening here. I’ll definitely be back to try some other dishes; the biryani, for example, was delicious(I just had a forkful from a fellow diner). Definitely give this place a try if you want some very good Indian vegetarian cuisine!

Saravan Bhavan is a vegetarian restaurant chain that specializes in South Indian cuisine. No chicken tikka masala and mutton biryani, but instead more Dosa and Idly. If you know that going in and adjust your expectations accordingly, you wont be disappointed. The Plano location has a different feel that the one in Irving. While the Irving location reminded me of Saravana Bhavan restaurants in Chennai, the one in Plano looks brighter, more contemporary and somehow more welcoming. Most of us stuck to safe choices — Kaima Idly, Kottu Parota(Mixed Veg Parota) and Chola Batura. The Batura was a bit too oily and I could have used more channa curry, but all three hit the mark taste-wise. Yum ! One of us was a bit more adventurous and ordered Paneer Biryani. Also Yum. Service was very attentive. There was some confusion but it was followed by apologies and a quick rectification. I’d give the place high marks for service too. Prices were reasonable.
