Parr Library

Whoever designed this building made the horrendous mistake of putting the «Quiet room» adjacent to the restrooms. I came here for a quiet, distraction-​free environment, and instead all I hear is the constant flushing of toilets, and what I presume to be a hand air-​dryer.
What kind of design firm would do that, really?!

Fairly small but it’s nice and quiet in the morning. The staff is really friendly and welcoming.
No designated quiet study area but they have a few rooms where you can study for 2 hours (more unless someone else is asking for it).
Otherwise there are big tables scattered throughout. Some tables are next to a wall and have outlets. Others have an outlet on the floor but if you’re unlucky, you might get stuck with a table with no outlet. They keep it at a pretty low temp so bring a jacket if you get cold easily.

I was in 5^th grade when this library opened and I’m now finished with college and still come here as an adult so I can tell you how great this library is from a perspective of a kid, teenager, and an adult
I always loved the kid section. Great new books coming in all the time and a section for storytelling in the corner. Great selection
The teen section also always had the book I was looking for and was spacious enough for any type of work. I remember how many high school projects and papers I finished in this library.
Still come here as an adult to use the computers or get work done from my job. This place is so quiet and peaceful– I’ve always gotten more work done here than anywhere else.
The librarians are also so courteous, helpful, and knowledgable. I feel so lucky this library is walking distance from my home. A true gem!

This review is primarily for the story time offerings they have for little ones, as I haven’t borrowed books from this library. You can get a library card here even if you’re not a Plano resident, but it won’t allow you to share in the eBook privileges that residents get. The facility itself is nowhere near as «shiny and new» as the Frisco library, but that’s to be expected since it’s older; in fact, this library makes me nostalgic for the suburban library I went to in CA when I was a kid. It has that library book smell, you know what I mean? That’s a good thing.
I’ve been to both baby and toddler story time here, and it’s very well done. The librarians who run it are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. And although they don’t have the projection screen/​bells and whistles that the Frisco library has, it doesn’t really matter because they also don’t have the intensely large crowds that you see at story time in Frisco. During story time here, you and your child sing songs, listen to two books, a flannel board story, and one play-​acting type activity. It’s educational and fun and free. After story time, there is time for your child to play with toys (at the baby story time) or flannel shapes (at the toddler time). It’s nice not to be rushed out of the room to accommodate the next group.
This library also has a great variety of board books and children’s books to peruse, along with lots of puzzles, a puppet area, a light table, a car table, a large bead maze, and a couple of rocking chairs. It’s very welcoming, and my child enjoys coming early to explore the children’s area before story time starts. Bring your kid here for story time. It’s worth checking out.

This is a small library but I usually go online and place my books on hold and then pick them up. I like the staff so much that although they have the self check-​out kiosks I prefer to interact with the librarians.
The library has a small business center where you can fax, print and scan documents, a computer center and a couple of racks of books and magazines that are for sale.
Overall a pleasant experience.

Since I was a kid I’ve loved the feeling of walking into a library, searching for a good book and checking it out.
I’ve driven by this location for years on way to work and for some reason never noticed it on the corner of Windhaven. I was recently looking for a very popular book and decided to check to see if it was at the Parr location and found that it was. I ran in to grab it but couldn’t locate it. The librarian helped me search the online catalogue and walked me over the new release section to find it.
In addition to friendly librarians they have plenty of self checkout kiosk and good parking.

Great place to bring the kids. During the summer they always have special events and story time. After each event they always give the kids some coupons for treats. The best part is that it’s all FREE!!!

Friendly librarians who don’t shun you if you lose a book (oops!). They just have you pay for it and you can even check out a book that same day. They have a great collection there and throughout the Plano Public Library System. Easy to use online system as well for rechecking and requesting books. Also has a drive by book drop for when you’re in a hurry.

This is the closest library to me so I usually get my books here. I especially like this one because there’s a drive thru drop off box (yes, I’m lazy sometimes and don’t feel like parking the car to drop off a book). The staff is very friendly and always willing to help out when you’re looking for something.
I was specifically looking for a Timothy Keller book, but they didn’t have it at this library. They searched the other Plano libraries, but no luck. No one has the book :(I really didn’t want to have to buy the book and I didn’t want to go to B&N to read it there either. She told me that I can actually request to have the book at the library, but it would need to be approved. If approved, it could take a couple of weeks to get the book. Because I was in no rush to read the book, I thought why not? Doesn’t hurt to try.
I believe it was only a week and a half later that I got an email saying my book was ready for pick up at this library. :) Woo HoO~ I was so excited I went straight after work to pick up the book.
What’s great about having a library card is that you can use it for all the libraries in Plano — you can renew and hold books online, look up your overdue charges, and receive email reminders about when your books/​dvds/​cds are due. They also have a magazine rack where you can buy ‘em for 25cents!
