I read lots of great reviews so naturally I expected great service. I was under the impression that this agency helped plan destination weddings, at least thats what I read. I spoke with Hannah briefly, sent her a very detailed email with the budget and the destination we wanted. She sent me an email with one hotel option, price for flights and said u need to call the hotel to get information on wedding. Im like okay, is this my only option. She seemed very inattentive and then told me I should choose Mexico instead with our budget. Never followed up to see if we got in touch with the hotel or anything. This agency is probably great for people who dont know what they want or who want a wedding in Mexico or Punta Cuna. Long story short, we found a great hotel on our own, who has an on-​site wedding coordinator who is taking great care of us. We have a beautiful wedding booked in Puerto Rico and still within our budget.

Not really concerned with your experience. Regardless if you specifically want to be in a certain location and they put you 30 minutes away at a less than mediocre resort. Went on and on about the honeymoon suite… God forbid anything less bc it was far from luxury. Very sweet prior to booking not so much after. I hope the kickback they received from the resort was worth it. Exactly why I never use travel agents!

If I could NOT give it a star I would. Where does one begin when your whole experience with Legacy Travel (accept for Cathi the owner) was an Awful one. Dealing with Nicki S. Was the worst experience of my life!!! She never answers emails or calls. The other guests got so frustrated that they booked their travel themselves. Others stayed at other resorts because Nicki didn’t know how to do her job! She told me pricing in April and then changed it to a large increase because of air fare in October. I did question the pricing in April and she assured me that was the price. In October I explained now I can’t afford the trip so I asked for pricing to change days and stay less and she changed it and I loss two days for the price of just removing one day.
I called and spoke to only the owner after this confusion and she gave me my two days back and of course with a price but never apologized for Nicki’s mistakes. I would NEVER book a travel with this company and if I were you I would run from Nicki at Legacy Travel!

The person we spoke to was very nice. They couldn’t help us as they only do package deals and we needed a more specialized travel agent experience, but she did refer us to another agency who would.

I recently just got back from a trip planned by legacy travel to the Dominican Republic. Before going on the trip I worked with a woman named Leigh-​Ann. I was referred to her from one of my friends who also went on a trip to the Dominican. She was very thorough and explain to me each of the hotels they offered and if it was more suited for couples singles or families with children. She also made sure she found me the best flight with the best price and gave me an option around what time and what day I should leave and what day to come back just so we could get the best deal. I want on this trip with my twin sister and I couldn’t be more pleased. The hotel was amazing and everything was what she said it was going to be she answered all of my questions about getting on the flight never made me feel dumb, and emailed me before we left to make sure that we had everything that we needed. I would definitely recommend these guys for your next vacation it takes the hard part out of planning the vacation and just lets you do what you want to do and enjoy yourself.

Measuring how «worldly» someone is can be a fool’s errand. Remember how «worldly» your freshman year roommate claimed to be because they had seen every Akira Kurosawa movie ever made and downloaded a bunch of music by The Pogues, yet this was the first time they left Cleveland, Ohio? Thanks to the Internet and social media, anyone and everyone can claim to be an international expert. But the professionals at Legacy Travel are genuinely worldly powerhouses of information, able to literally guide you to your destination and places you never even dreamed existed, all with exceptional service, follow-​up conversations and a sense of adventure you would not typically find in most travel agencies.
This review is actually the result of two years’ enjoyment in booking international trips with Legacy Travel, and is long overdue as this is only the lucky 13^th review for this group of dedicated globe-​trotters at the time of this writing. Imagine a cliched 80s-​era sitcom flashback as we journey back to 2013, when my parents first met, and had the fortuitous luck to work with, Erin.
We were looking to do Europe’s «big three» of London, Paris and Rome, and Erin had the multi-​week excursion mapped out before I could even request time off at the office. Everything, from the hotels to the attractions, the «local secret» businesses to the touristy sights, was itemized and outlined through her rapt attention to detail. Whenever an option came up that may have been a price point we were not willing to pay, she had another two or three available to pick from that she personally recommended. And that, right there, is the vital ingredient that elevates Legacy Travel to serene levels of customer satisfaction and confidence: the staff are able to «talk the talk» because they have already «walk[ed] the walk.»
Erin has been to places most of us have vaguely heard of in-​between naps during high school Geometry, and she has the encyclopedic knowledge to back up her recommendations. It’s one thing to read about these far off destinations in the «Travel» section of your local Barnes and Nobles, but it’s another thing entirely to be fortunate enough to have someone who has been there, done that and would do it again telling you that The Louvre will impress all your Facebook friends when you check in there (my words, not hers).
All Legacy Travel personnel are well-​versed in their regions of the world, and the inviting atmosphere of the office ensures that anyone who walks through the door will be greeted and valued almost immediately. The actual operations sit in a storefront back behind the Anamia and Plucker’s restaurants almost near the curve in the strip mall, but unlike those two eateries, there is plenty of parking around the office to stop in for advice.
Erin did such a great job with our 2013 European rendezvous, and her following-​up calls and e-​mails were a most appreciated «extra mile» of service. She wanted to make sure we were satisfied so it was a no-​brainer to turn to her again in 2014 for advice on Germany and Austria. She helped put that trip together using the same dedication and interest to her craft that she used a year ago. It is now about three weeks since that trip successfully concluded and made me a local celebrity once my coworkers saw my photos. And, because she is an unquestionably deserving ²⁄₂ for her track record of trip advice, we look forward to getting her take on Ireland and Scotland over the next few months.
This review is bigger than Erin, though. It’s about the people that make Legacy Travel an essential destination for anyone looking to get away for one weekend or one month. Bring some ideas and let the pros map out your vacation for you — they know the highlights, the hidden gems and they can assuredly make you, and your passport, worldly beyond your wildest dreams.

Leigh-​Ann and Cathi at Legacy Travel are hands down the most professional and knowledgeable team of travel agents that you can get these days. Went to Cancun on a one week trip with EIGHT total people in our party and everything was smooth as butter. From the time you book until you return from your trip getting settled, they work to make sure everything is up to your standards. Stayed at the Iberostar Grand through Leigh-Ann’s recommendation and it was by far the most superior hotel I have stayed at in Mexico (been to Mexico on vacation about nine times) and is truly 5-​stars. They tell you what to expect before your trip, during, and arrival back into the States. They also set up your transportation to and from the airport and hotel and truly make the experience all-​inclusive. Saved us quite a bit of money too. I did my research and know that she got us the best possible deal for what we were looking for. I highly recommend Legacy Travel!

Cathi Banks is hands down AWESOME! I had to plan for 6 of us ladies to go to Playa del Carmen and Cathi was extremely informative and walked me every step of the way to make this trip happen. Without her, I’m not sure if we would have made it to Mexico.

I would not recommend using this agency. We filled out an online request for our destination wedding. I did receive a call the next morning, Terrah left a message. I immediately returned the call and left a message for her. I waited three days and did not get a return phone call. Finally I called her and set up an initial appointment for the next week. She said the appointment would take up to 2 hours.
My partner and I took off work, drove 45 minutes for the appointment and when we arrived the gentleman in the Legacy Travel Plano office seemed surprised we were there. He told us that Terrah was not at work that day. Both he and the owner seemed uninterested and unconcerned that she did not call or email us.
Furthermore the office in Plano is filthy, dingy and dark. There are leaves all over the floor and thick dust covering the furniture. I can only imagine how they would have taken care of our event… Or not taken care of it.

We booked a trip with friends that had used Legacy Travel in the past. What a wonderful experience! I have never used a travel agency before and now know that booking a vacation does not entail endless internet searches for deals and reviews. One call to Terrah and all was done. I will not hesitate to call for the next vacation.

Needing a five star Caribbean experience complete with crystal clear waters, delicious food, and superb service? Terrah R. can arrange it all for you. Our Punta Cana honeymoon was no less than paradise on Earth. Terrah listened to what we wanted in a honeymoon location and hand picked our hotel based on our needs and their reputation. We were overjoyed with the service, but most importantly the food. Terrah prearranged hotel transfers, notified the hotel that we were on our honeymoon (which gave us extra perks), and even sent travel tips. We can’t wait to book our next trip with you all :)

I agree 100% with the other 1 star reviews. I’m currently booking 50+ guests for my wedding to MX and have been let down by Legacy Travel several times now. First of all, we are receiving NO incentives at all for having 50 guests book through them. After meeting w/​them in person, they told me I would get a certain amount back for each person that booked. Later to find out, that since my trip falls on Presidents Day weekend, we get NOTHING. Would have been nice to be informed of this before we booked everything. Several of my guests have had a very hard time getting a hold of Nicki in the Chicago office as well… and about 20 guests have decided not to book with them because of how bad everything is going.
I asked to apply a payment towards my sisters account the other day and told her it would be a surprise since her bday was coming up, but they sent her the invoice that same day. surprise ruined.
Also, initially we booked a specific resort because we wanted to get married under the gazebo. They were aware that we were planning for 75 people and failed to mention that the gazebo can only have 50 people max. After going back and forth with resort, with the travel agency copied on all emails… they never apologized for their mistake. There is no accommodating for the gazebo since we have over 50 people. Would have also been good to know before booking with them.
Long story short, we travel A LOT and would never use Legacy Travel again… there are plenty of other travel agencies out there that are more than willing to help, accommodate and ensure you’re happy… especially if they’re making commission off of the people that book through them.

as a referral to help me help my guests secure travel arrangements for a destination wedding, I met with Nicki S. (in their Chicago offices) and away after a 1.5 hour meeting thAt inculded a coversation about my needs and my guests’ needs, i left with the understanding that she would provide information and rates for the properties we agreed upon. One week later, I had never heard back from her. I followed up with a voicemail and email — in fact I never heard back from her. Totally unprofessional. If you’re looking for follow up, don’t call Nicki! She also mentioned that she moved from Plano to help grow their Chicago office, so if not following up with new customers to provide growth, she needs to read sales 101.

WENT TO CANCUN. Called Legacy Travel and spoke with Leigh Ann to try to schedule a trip to Cancun in August of 2011. From the minute I started speaking with Leigh Ann she was great. She told me about all of my options and got me very excited to travel. After doing some research with a few other places they had the best price and they had the best service. I have since called Leigh Ann to talk about other trips and she has always been warm and friendly. I have recommended various different people to Legacy Travel. The trip went really smooth and everything went as planned. The hotel I stayed The Royal in Cancun was the best hotel I have every stayed in while in Mexico and it was recommended by Leigh Ann.

TERRIBLE!!! Almost a sure thing that they will ruin your vacation. We dealt with Terrah to book our wedding/​honeymoon in Mexico. It’s an understatement to assume that details are not her strong point. She book one of guest a day short on their vacation, the couple was then forced to pay for the extra day (Terrah’s mistake). We were told that the transfers from the airport to the resort would be non-​stop, some of our guest made stops. They will offer you insurance on your trip, but forget to tell you that you have a second (cheaper) option which Terrah says she uses with her family all the time. Hours before flying out a family of four had only two seats on their scheduled flight. Terrah responded to them by saying, «I would advise you to be there even slightly earlier to have them arrange your seats together at the check-​in counter. Much love and hope this helps» ??? When booking make sure they spell your name correctly… I can assure you that they will misspell names, forget middle names and titles such as «jr.» We became so frustrated by the service, or lack thereof, that we started advising guest to book with their own travel agencies. My wife and I apologized many times over to all of our guest who complained about the service. After the vacation we called the owner, Cathi. We extensively covered in greater detail our experiences with Terrah. We also sent her a letter. She never once apologized or acknowledged receipt of the email. Had I read the reviews on Google I would have never done business with Legacy Travel. Plenty of travel agencies out there shop around and take your business where you will be treated as a valued customer.

Our group of 52 friends and family members made travel plans to Mexico through Legacy travel.
For $ 50K plus worth of business, you would expect good service but not even close. We were treated like they don’t need our business next year. Our whole trip was arranged by Leigh Ann and we were issued travel docs. A few days later, we were notified that our return flight has been cancelled and changed from 1:00 PM to 7:00am which was a total lie and they wanted to make more money. Eventually, We forced Legacy to honor the original plan. On departure date, two of our group members were told that their reservation could not be found, so they had to pay $ 1800.00 for new tickets and cut their vacation from 7 to 5 days as the result. Legacy also charged one group member $ 700 for Room upgrade and they did not get an upgrade at all.
Leigh Ann has not returned any emails or responded to any of us regarding these problems.

We’ve used Legacy to book flights and hotels for 2 trips now (including our honeymoon), and LOVE the customer service. I’ve worked with 2 different agents and love the prompt quotes, plus you always come home to welcome home card in the mail, followed up by a personal phone call.
On our honeymoon, we found out the hotel had booked all of the king bed rooms to a convention and they said they only had a double for us. One call to our travel agent and the hotel had us upgraded in minutes. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

My fiancé and I worked with Terrah at Legacy Travel when planning our wedding/​honeymoon. She was BEYOND professional and sweet. She took a lot of time with us, discussing different venues and finding the perfect location to fit our nees. I’m not sure about the experience other Unilocalers had with other agents, but I could not recommend Terrah enough. It is very difficult as a bride to do so much planning. Terrah is an expert. She really knows her stuff and she LISTENED to what was important to me and my fiancé (i.e., I didn’t feel like she was pushing her own agenda but rather really wanted to find something that worked for us).
I have traveled all over the world, been to five continents and have used travel agencies before. There are those rare people who truly love their work and love their clients. Terrah is one of those people. Call her, work with her, you will not be sorry that you did.
