Jefferson Dental Clinics – Plano

Amazing staff! They made my experience great! Front office ladies took care of my daughter while I was getting seen. The doctor and assistant were very kind and funny which made my visit very pleasant. Thank you guys so much!

I needed a dentist to sign a form for the Air Force reserves so that I can deploy. I paid the fee for a dental check up, but after realizing that I do not need any work, the dentist refused to sign the form. So mean! So Sad!!! Thanks for helping a service member. I am glad that I will be deploying to protect your business because that is all it is to you, a fountain of currency. I hope you don’t drown in it.

They use outdated Xray technology and you need to pay 30 dollars to have the images. They also do not mail them. Do not go there.

I was there for a root canal and I let them know I was in a lot of pain as soon as I walked in. They immediately took me in to get it numbed and brought some relief very quickly. I did have to wait at times and they are definitely not the fastest, but they do a great job. Prices are the best I’ve seen around and the staff is extremely nice and pleasant. I’ll go there again next time for sure.

Calling this place I thought I would be in good hands. BOY WAS I WRONG. Had very bad pain in molar when I got there. Took X-​Rays and then sat down with dentist. First he could not figure out what the problem was. Told me it might be cracked then told me it might be impacted then told me that it possibly could be infected. WTF??? Which is it? So he said to take some pills and go home and see what happens. Well this dentist that diagnosed my tooth pain is THE DIRECTOR and trains other dentists. So when I left 2 – 3 hours later the pain was the worst tooth pain I have ever had. So I called them 15 minutes before they closed and asked to talk with my dentist (please) before he goes home. So I could get some stronger pain medicine and the secretary would not let me talk with him. I begged her and pleaded (the pain was the most intense I have ever had in 48 years) but she played with me and told me after 20 minutes on the phone that he had already left. This is the worst dentist office I have ever been to. So later that evening I had to have emergency dental care due to the pain. My new dentist fixed me up and all is well. STAY AWAY FROM JEFFERSON DENTAL CLINICS.

My appointment was for 11 am, I signed in with time to spare… I found a seat where I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. I was finally brought into the back after having to wait for about an hour, and 15 minutes. Fun.
They showed me to a dentist chair where I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally after a 30 minute wait someone came to take x-​rays. The x-​ray technician seemed to know why I was there for (an abscessed tooth that needed to be extracted), but seemed clueless that it would be painful for me to bite down in those damned x-​ray appliances they shove into your mouth. Before the x-​rays my pain was bearable, but that was history when she began to take the x-​rays. Plus, she went about them slowly, making what should have been a quick, efficient process longer. Fun.
After the x-​rays there was more waiting, though not the 30 minutes I had to wait for the x-​rays to be taken… A dental assistant finally came to set things up, took my blood pressure, and asked me a few questions. He then went to tell the dentist I was ready for her. She came after about a 10 minute wait, and did her examination. It turned out my tooth was too infected to extract, so I needed start on some antibiotics, and come back after a few days when it got better. Fun.
Then it was time to go talk to the sales clerk to learn about all the work the dentist thought needed to be done. Of course I had to wait 10 minutes for her to finally come into the consultation room, all the while in pain from the x-​rays. She went on, and on, until I cut her short, and said I was only interested in having my infected tooth pulled. My husband, who was with me, had to remind her that I was in pain. Fun.
After all was said, and done, an appointment that should have lasted an hour tops, lasted 2 ½ hours. Most of it spent waiting. It would be nice if I could bill them for all of my time they wasted. Better yet, maybe they should stop overbooking, and call their patients to let them know they’re running behind, and to come in a bit later. A little courtesy goes a long way.

The worst place and the must unprofessional Dentist (Mark Limbaugh)! I went there earlier this year and had cleaning and 2 cavities. My cleaning took less than 10 minutes! They did my cavities and the dentist didn’t even talk to me and the whole time he was sharing his opinion about Adele and her music with the coworkers that were walking by. They also were talking about a guy that had just quitted and that he was lying to them and he had started training in another job, but he was still working for them for a few more days. This is strictly violating employee and employer confidentiality policy! I went back the next week and told them the concern I had about the tooth they had filled and they said you are just fine! Beside the fact that there is an Indian lady there that had no clue what she was doing and was about to have them pull my root canal out because I needed a root canal on the same tooth! How hard is to read the x-​ray and see that I have already had one on the same tooth!
I have been working with a new dentist and he had to redo one of the fillings that was done at Jefferson Dental by Mark Limbaugh because it was loose and not covering all the cavities and he also had to do extreme deep cleaning on my gums because they were so bad to even start working on my cavities and they were surprised how they had avoided my gums and not told me anything about it at Jefferson Dental in Plano. I feel bad for the people that go in there and can’t read reviews, but if you do stay away! This place is a joke and full of confused staff that can’t even answer a simple question when you call them! I spoke with a girl in the office and explained my experience to her and she said «oh, ok I see» I asked her if she was surprised and she said nothing! So here goes for wasting my time trying to explain my bad service to them.

I have always been TERRIFIED of going to the dentist, I mean TERRIFIED. I also had a horrid experience 7 months ago at Princeton Dental and was even more reluctant to get my root canal and fillings taken care of. I seriously contemplated letting my tooth just go to avoid going to the dentist. I decided to try Jefferson Dental in Plano because of the price. 80 – 90 for a filling, practically free office visit, and very easy to get an appointment. This staff was by far the most friendly and caring staff I have ever experienced. Dr. Kim is now the only dentist I will EVER let touch my mouth ever again. She was amazing. They explained everything in detail, went over pricing, and while I had my root canal (which was done same day which is unheard of), Dr. Kim checked on me continuously as she did her procedure. My root canal was completely painless and I had 3 fillings and a root canal in 1 ½ hours. They prescribed me pain meds and antibiotics to prevent an infection. I didn’t have to use a single pain pill, in fact I felt so good when I left that I didn’t even fill that one, just the antibiotics. The root canal also only cost $ 450.00 compared to $ 1200.00+ every where else I called. Considering I had no pain during or after the procedure, I would consider that money well spent. I will be returning to Dr. Kim for my crown in a few months since they also told me about the option of a temporary filling that would last up to a year to help with the cost of a root canal/​crown. I couldn’t be more pleased with Dr. Kim and her staff and will continue to recommend them and rave about my dental care at their facility. The only thing I would say needs improvement is targeting more clientele that just Spanish speaking clientele. The TV was in Spanish and some of the signs weren’t even translated into English. Throw up some sub titles on the TV and make sure you have all of the posters available to both languages and I feel that it would make English only speaking clients more comfortable when they wait. Their office was clean and neat so other than that I was very comfortable while I waited.

I’m sitting here biting on a slightly loose wisdom tooth, stitches in my mouth, buzzed on Vicodin, regretting the decision to let the dentist use the pliers on me.
Every time I go to the dentist, they have always told me that I should get my wisdom teeth pulled, and I always opt for later. Today I went for a checkup and a cleaning. I got that done, and got 3 cavities filled. No problem there. But I had also agreed to have my wisdom teeth pulled as well, and get it out of the way. I had heard it from so many dentists before, that I just accepted as something that needed to be done.
But there was nothing wrong with my wisdom teeth. They were perfectly healthy (and three still are). The only reason I was given was that «they will push on your other teeth.» But my wisdom teeth are fully out, straight, and have been so for many years. And now that I research it, I read that extracting asymptomatic third molars is actually controversial. If they are not sideways, halfway out, or partly covered with your gums, there is no reason to pull them out. You actually risk damaging nerves.
The woman doing it was of Indian descent, and she frustratingly kept telling me to open my mouth, move my chin, and I could not understand her accent, so her assistant translated into Spanish (My English is fine, but in this case I did need translating). I told her that my jaw was hurting, and it was to the point of shaking from trying to keep it open without a break. The assistant went to look for something to keep it open, but this lady did not want to wait and just kept going at it. She had no people skills, and I soon found out she had not dental skills, either.
So she goes in with the pliers. Yes, pliers. They looked like Wal-​Mart brand. I’m sure the Astecs 1,500 years ago and the Egyptians 5,000 years ago had better dentists. I feel a twisting, hear a «crack», and feel enourmous pain from my teeth deep into my gums, as I grip my chair and my body spasms. She had given me several shots, but I still had sensation. A guy dentist went in and told her that she needed to give me a different kind of localized anesthesia. I must have received at least six more shots.
The pliers went in again and again. The tooth would not come out. The anesthesia had me shaking and lightheaded, not to mention I hadn’t eaten, and I wondered if I had found myself in Gitmo under interrogation. Eventually the room was full with assistants and dentists, all coaching this lady, who I had never met before this day. My poor tooth was getting this treatment for being a very healthy tooth well attached to my gums. Eventually a different dentist took over. But first they took me to get more X-​ray radiation, this time on the big machine. They guy said it was for the insurance. It was probably for the lawsuit they thought they were going to get.
So the other dentist lady starts stitching me up. They give me a stack of prescriptions, the top one being Vicodin, and recommend me to another dentist. I went and got the Vicodin, but I’m not going to their dentist. I’m going to an oral surgeon. And I researched it this time.
I’m usually good about researching things like this. I’m good about selecting doctors and specialists. The reason I went here is because it is a chain, and they had done some periodontal treatment on me last year at another branch that was close to me back when I lived close to downtown Dallas. So when I moved to West Plano, I just transferred my records to a location that was the other location to finish the treatment. It is closer, but still not really in my area.
Some of the best doctors and surgeons work close to the area where I now live, and many live in my Willow Bend neighborhood. I work out in the same gym they do, shop at the same grocery stores, and visit the same Blockbuster. The care I’ve received from doctors and specialist in my neighborhood has been phenomenal. I should just have finished my periodontal treatment and found a new dentist at an office close by where you get the same dentist every time, and they know your face. These dental chains just don’t offer that kind of personal care. I am just glad that they stopped with the first tooth and sowed me back up. That is the best thing they could have done.
I find it crazy and insane how the treatment from doctor to doctor and dentist to dentist and office to office can vary so much. Unfortunately, the best neighborhoods have the best doctors, and the working class neighborhoods often get substandard service. But the cost to the insurance companies and you is the same. Choosing a doctor, a specialist, or a dentist is definitely something to be approached with great care and attention. Making wise decisions on matters like these shows that you love and care for yourself and for your life. So I’ve admitted my mistake, cut my losses, and hopefully tomorrow the surgeon I choose will say that it is repairable and there is no permanent or collateral damage to my jaw.
