I stopped by Golden Chick tonight for some roasted chicken. A fellow I believe to be the manager on duty waited on me at the counter. He helped me figure out the best combo for what I wanted at the right price. He was courteous and a problem-solver. The menu includes roast chicken as well as fried, and offers healthy side choices such as green beans or lettuce salad. I ate in. The place was clean and pleasant, cooled to just the right temperature. From the outside, it’s just another fast food place, but it worked out well. In the background, pleasant instrumental jazz played, a great contrast from the noise or formulaic music found at some places. My food was great – everything was prepared correctly. Chain places feature the same basic ingredients, but it’s up to the staff to «get it right» for the customer. Tonight the staff got it right for me. After I finished my meal, I ordered a meal«to go» to take home to my wife, who is studying for a work certification. The«to go» meal was ready very promptly by another employee. While I was there, they even processed a job applicant, giving her an interview within moments of her filling out a form. The ambience was quiet and professional, a real treat in a fast food franchise place. Count me a very happy camper, who will return.

Obsessed with their wicked wings. Not all Golden Chick locations have this. My husband loves their yeast rolls and always orders a bunch. Try their gizzards too. Just the right amount of crunch and batter. We usually have to wait about 10 minutes when we order these wings because like someone else said, they don’t make too much so every batch is fresh. You can definitely taste that they were made fresh because they are all mouth burning HOT! Ask for extra zing powder for your wicked wings!

Obviously, it’s never good to have your order forgotten. Sorry, Jeff. I’ve had all kinds of things happen through the years. I have to say the food here is very good… not greasy, chinchy, overcooked, or old. Sometimes it takes a minute or 2 because they aren’t making huge batches to sit under lamps. The restaurant is completely updated and clean. I went to the restroom and it was maintained too. I just now found out they deliver and my elderly mother loves their catfish. That’s a big help to me that she can get something to eat she really likes when I am not available.

Chicken has the potential of being good but is always pink! Never cooked enough had to stop eating there. I went there yesterday with my coworker and she got sick from their chicken so she said that she’ll never eat there again either. but I told her that she could ask them to maybe cook it longer but you shouldn’t have to do that you should never be served uncooked poultry.

The best chicken tenders, fries, and rolls on the planet. My friends and I got hooked back in high school and still love it 15 years later. I always get a #1 original so I can’t speak to anything else. Tenders are similar to Chicken Express but better. Fries are seasoned just right. Rolls are warm and light. Better than Grandy’s. The 14th street location in Plano is the best. Have had it in several other locations and the food quality of some isn’t the same.

They have chicken livers here! Yay! Very sweet, polite staff. The yeast rolls were kind of meh, but the chicken livers were tender and delicious. Will be back for those.

I am writing about the East Plano Store on 14th. We just went there and ate the caffish, rolls, mac and cheese, dirty rice and mashed potatoes! The catfish was excellent and I am very particular about it because some joints the catfish is dry, tasteless, fishy or taste very musty and inedible. Not so here! Some of the best around. Also wanted to make this clear, this location serves bigger pieces than any of the other Golden Chicks and had plenty of fish left over! Usually the pieces are thin and we have to get a few extra pieces, not so at this location. I actually enjoy a bigger piece too due to I am eating more of the fish than the fried crust.

Sent a email to corporate office about this, got a email back from Corp. copying in the manager of this location and the owners and was guaranteed this would be addressed with me asap and taken care of, that was on 5/23, still not a word from the manager or owners of this location. It is obvious they really don’t care about the customer at all, pretty pitiful. I encourage everyone to choose another chicken place if you are wanting that, near this GC location there is a Popeyes chicken and a KFC within a mile of this place, I have ate at both and never once had a bad experience at either one. I am sure their management at either of those other places would not have handled this situation this poorly.

Another solid little roadside joint. I stopped in late Saturday night because they were open and I need some quick eats. The menu was just right for a fried chicken joint. And let me tell you, being from the NW area we do not, I REPEATWEDONOT, know how to fry food. Period. This place does. I ordered the chicken strips which came with fries, a yeast roll and country gravy. All of which was hot(obviously under the heat lamp hot). Fried correctly, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I ordered them«hot» which resulted in getting my tenders dusted with some sort of seasoned dry rub. It was very good. The yeast roll might have been the epiphany of the whole trip. Man was it good. Soft and doughy, piping hot and chewy. Very good stuff and a reasonable price. The ambience leaves a lot to be desired, but hey, I knew that walking in. Looked to me as if the place was some sort of hold over from a fast food chain. No AC, which for my NW blood was a little tough. And a big screen TV circa 1992 or earlier. The whole place was clean though. The service was prompt and polite. The cost was what you might expect, under 10 bucks. So really no complaints.

I remember making frequent 2 hour lunches here when I went to Plano East even though my lunch was only half that time. It was worth skipping my 5th class every now and then. Who needs knowledge of world history anyway? This place was and is still the best place for chicken strips. They also occasionally run specials on 8 peice chicken packages. They have never been dry and the breading is awesome. Be sure to get gravy and Zing seasoning with your order. You’re going to love that combo. You could always stick with honey. That goes well with just about everything on the menu. The place is now pretty old and it’s showing some signs of wear and tear, but it’s still an awesome place.

This is a pretty simple concept; it’s a local chicken restaurant. The food is good and they deliver(minium $ 17 order).

The chicken strips are simply, amazing. Not the best place, and definitely not the cleanest place. Still, the chicken is big, juicy, and crispy tasty breading. I could eat alot of these. To top it all off their mix of hot spices is great. I use about 3 packets because I enjoy it so much. Not claiming this place is some culinary genius. Actually the rest of the food isn’t that good. But for a quality and low price chicken strip, they can’t be beat.

They just opened a new one of these in Murphy so we thought we would try it. I have to say it is the worst chicken I have ever tasted. It was too greasy and cappy pieces of chicke. People of Murphy do not waste your time and hope that we get a real chicken place other than the chick-flia. I give this place six months before it is gone.

I really like Golden Chick when I am craving fried chicken tenders. I really never eat anything else from here so I can’t give a comprehensive review. Fries are good and so is toast that comes with the chicken tenders. Prices are pretty affordable and there is a drive thru. Gravy also yummy.
