History
Established in 1969.
Gladys Harrington and the Federation of Church Women of Plano established the first lending library in the Plano Community House in 1955. Friends of the Library formed in 1965. A City of Plano Bond election on September 9, 1967 passed, and was matched by a Library Construction Act Title III funds for building a new library. On April 22, 1968, the City Council of Plano passed a resolution to name the new facility Gladys Harrington Library. The new library opened May 1969.
