Either people r lying and are owners friends or they just don’t know good arabi food. I asked for kafta. It was not cooked all the way through and he microwaved it in front of me and served it. A whole sandwich he made earlier and had lettuce on it and was soggy… awful service… awful food. Falafel was fresh but lettuce was soggy and bread somehow got soggy also. absolutely terrible… don’t go here. Got two sandwiches for 10 dollars .rip off. I believe he adds money on top of items .like he gets in a few dollars.

I love this place. The food is terrific, fairly priced, and they have as authentic and tasty a Falafel or Shwarma as you are going to find anywhere in the Metroplex. Don’t expect fancy — it’s a total hole in the wall. I’ve been coming here for years, and it hasn’t changed one bit. Same sparse décor, same kind gentleman who does everything, same great food. I don’t know how he stays in business(it is never crowded), but I’m glad he does.

I ordered a beef shawarma sandwich. The owner asked if I would be willing to change it to chicken. I said no. He then hands me a beef kafta sandwich. I told him that this is not shawarma. He says that it is shawarma and that he has been doing this for 15 years. I ask him to describe a kafta to me and point out that this sandwich has ground beef(undercooked no less). He then says they no longer carry shawarma and kafta is the same thing. I tell him that I do not want this and offer to pay for the soda I already opened. He tries to get me to pay for the french fries also. I refused and only paid for the soda. The place was also very dirty. The owner was attempting to clean the tables when I came in a 12pm. He even held on to the windex rag as he handed me my food. This place was wrong on many levels. I am really curious to see what sort of grade they would receive from the health inspector.

Such a hole in the wall establishment but that’s what makes it so charming. Had last minute family stop by and needed a hearty meal for about 20. The owner was incredibly nice and made a large order immediately. We ordered for 10 and the quantity was enormous. Falafels were the size of golf balls. Falafels are a tricky beast… Take them out too early and they fall apart. 20 seconds too long and they can get very hard. These were PERFECT. I would say that my mom makes the best falafels in the world and these were right up there. The whole family was raving about them. They also lasted for days afterwards with the same texture. The owner also included four dips(hummus, babaghanoush, Tahini, yogurt dip — all freshly made and large quantities) as well as fresh pita, and a large salad. It was a perfect meal. I was able to make hearty falafel salads for days afterwards. Will absolutely order from here again.

food here is darn good. it’s a local mom-and-pop place minus the mom [i’ve only seen the main dude in there]…no frills. okay, so the guy doesnt give off a ton of «warm fuzzies» and could use a touch of decorating… but no one should go in here with that expectation. remember, this is on independence and NOT legacy! it’s a simple, good tasting place. i thoroughly enjoy their falafel, but everything else is equally praiseworthy. and it’s not just all veggies; their meats are good, too.

Like Marko I would really like to like this place too, also left with concern about possible after effects having eaten a part of my meal, mainly the salad. Lamb kbob with roasted peppers and eggplant dip, was good. A bit of the roasted pepper still had a part of the paper label and the potato pea dish was cold beneath. A cucumber had a black area which should have been cut off and not served. The lettuce had rust spots and my thinking was that this is a place that has fallen on hard times and they are using all they have. Just seems the nice man has fallen on hard times physically(maybe vision is a bit affected) and, there was some mechanical issues he was working with too. My concern, the cooler the drinks were in which had a moldy smell and what looked like mold too. Probably a lively place with great food in an earlier time. Does need a good clean.

Food: 4 stars Cleanliness: No stars Atmosphere:2 Stars Food was pretty tasty and I enjoyed the falafel plate that included hummus, baba– babaganoosh(I can’t spell it), salad and pita bread. It was more food than I could eat and had all been freshly prepared. I was warned about the lack of cleanliness so we opted for bottled water. Clean this place up! Again, I was warned so expectations were low but under normal circumstances, I would not eat in a place this filthy. My friend assured me it was safe so I made the exception but I would recommend bringing your own silverware. Atmosphere is super laid back. The owner is either sleeping in plain sight at the back table or talking on the phone. He was very pleasant to interact with but we kept conversation to a minimum. Overall I give it 3 stars because the food tasted good. Then again I did worry I was potentially going to be sick the rest of the night. Maybe he’s doing us a favor and building up our immunities one plate at a time.

I think that this place could be better if a little more effort was put in to the place. Customer service does not seem to be a priority at this time. The food was okay. I really wish they had gyros on the menu. I want to like this place more than I do. If you are in the neighborhood and are looking for something different it is okay, but I certainly would not go out of my way to come here.

Be very wary here. I used to work at the Tom thumb behind this place, and the owner would come in and buy the cheapest meat we were about to throw out. I can’t say whether he still claims it’s halal, but it sure as heck is NOT.

Just another day of hard work, hitting that 9 to 5. I’m cruising. Douchebags are tailgating me and I can’t drive any faster because there’s a car in front me. I’m hungry but I don’t want to cook or eat at Chipotle. What to do? That’s when I see Falafel and more. I’ve been meaning to eat here. I hit the brakes and make a quick turn into the old strip center. I get out of my battered truck Old Betsy. The store’s windows are painted with vegetal artwork. It’s the first time I’ve seen a blue eggplant. I walk in and it is dead silent and empty. I’m slightly taken aback for a second and wonder if the store is even open. Then I hear some faint whispering. Ghosts? Knees weak, arms spaghetti, vomit on my sweater already. I look forward and there behind the chair is a guy praying. Awkward. He notices me and so I stand there. My knees have recovered and my arms are now al dente. The man gets up slowly and hands me a menu. I quickly order the combo platter, and he gets to cooking. The first thing I heard is the steady hum of a microwave. Oh God, I thought. $ 11 for this? I wait and my eyes start to wander around the room. It’s an older store and it looks like it’s from the late 80’s. There’s some mauve counters and textured walls. The kitchen is partially open so you can see what’s going on. My heart skips a beat once I hear the sizzle of the grill, and the room fills with the delicious smoky scents of seared meat. Things were on the up and up. After a while the food comes. I was pretty surprised. It was a big plate with a chicken kebab, beef kebab and kafta on a bed of rice. Some hummus and some other sort of stuff was on the side. I also got a salad and a pita bread to boot. Not bad. Things were looking up for my stomach. I take a bit of the kebab and it’s delicious. The rice is good. The salad is just salad. There’s a delicious garlic and butter spread of some sort on the side. It’s amazingly buttery. I eat and eat. Things were going well until I got to the kafta. It was like eating the Dead Sea. It was so salty that after my first bite, I couldn’t taste anything for a while. I finish eating and go up to pay. When I get my receipt, I notice that I’ve been charged an extra $ 2 or so. Mysterious. So I do wonder if the mysterious extra $ 2 or so came from him charging me for the water? The owner had a thick accent, and when I was asked what I wanted to drink, he said something I didn’t understand while glancing in the general direction of the fridge, so I grabbed a bottle of Niagra brand(Aldi’s store brand, ballin’ on a budget!) water from the grimy refrigerator near the back.

I love this place. I’ve been going here for maybe four or five years now and every time I come back I’m happy to see it’s still kickin.’ The whole restaurant is run by one man. And yes, he’s always sleeping when you come in, but so what? You can tell he’s a kind-hearted man who truly cares about his customers. One time, after my boyfriend and I were done eating lunch, he handed us 2 bananas on our way out. Now that’s good ‘ol fashion customer service. Don’t expect anything fancy. When you come in, you place your order at the counter, get situated wherever you want, and pour yourself a little glass of Brita-filtered water. Nice and simple. The food, of course, is delicious and all made by the owner. And the portion size is pretty hefty for an affordable price. Support a small business. Eat at Falafel & More.

Disclaimer: Do not use the restroom. It is not clean and there is no soap most of the time. There are cockroaches in there and it smells gross. But, the rest of the restaurant is ok. This place is owned by a very sweet old man and he makes very good falafel. I get the falafel wrap and my fiancée gets the vegetarian plate, which comes with falafel, eggplant, fried cauliflower and hummus. The portions are normal and the food is consistently good. Everything is made fresh to order. It can be a bit awkward when the poor man sleeps, but I feel bad for him.

Could be great if the owner would wake up, put his pillow away, stop up selling you on ever item and use less, a lot let salt on the food. Overall the food isn’t bad.

I’m giving this place only one star for the same reasons others did, mainly. I’ll say right off that I thought the food was excellent! I ordered a falafel sandwich, and though I haven’t had a lot of examples of falafel, this was just superb. It may have been warmed in a microwave, but no matter — it was delicious! The sandwich was larger than I expected, also, which was nice. The hummos was delicious, too — one reviewer mentioned that it was ‘oily’, but I assume that the olive oil was intentional — it was only in the center of the plate and since the dish was stirred in such a way to look like the owner took care to arrange it that way with the parsley around the edge, I am going to assume that the little bit of oil was added, not just oil coming out of the hummos like it was excessive. The owner was dozing in his ‘chair massage’ type chair for a long time and because of this I almost didn’t go in. I wondered if perhaps there was a side business of chair massages here! This was a little strange. I assume that perhaps the elderly owner has some problem that requires him sleeping a lot or resting his back. When I came in I thought maybe he was on something, as he just looked at me with a blank look, no greeting, like I was a rock, not a customer. He roughly handed me a paper menu. I ordered a falafel sandwich. He kind of grunted and pointed to hummos. I said, ‘no, thanks, I just want to order a falafel sandwich(partly because the tiny plate of hummos was $ 3.49, if I remember correctly). He seemed to grunt back something that indicated that no, he wanted to know if I wanted some in the sandwich. Not knowing much about this kind of food, I just said, ‘ok’. The one star is due to the facts above but mainly because when I went up to pay, he demanded $ 9.90! Now, since I ordered only a falafel sandwich, I knew exactly what was going on — he decided to order for me a plate of hummos. Not only that, he counted $ 4.49 for sandwich + $ 3.49 for hummmos + tax = $ 9.90! $ 4.49 + $ 3.49 = $ 7.98. Tax would make this nowhere near $ 9.90. This is not to mention that I didn’t even order the hummos! I had another bad experience with a Jordanian mediterranean restaurant owner across from TI in Dallas charging me wayyyy more than the menu or my order indicated(more than once — I only went there quite a few times since it was right across from my office on TI Blvd.). I would normally never go back here due to this seeming bit of dishonesty, but if I’m craving some good mediterranean food not far from my house I may go back if I get the owner to agree to the price ahead of time and I will pay in advance. If he pulls something like this again, it will be my last time. ***UPDATE*** I have been back here, mainly because I have few other options for ‘fasting food’ anywhere nearby(Orthodox Christians don’t eat meat or dairy, wine, etc. on Weds. and Fridays, all during Lent, and many other times throughout the year for ascetic/spiritual reasons and so we need to look for vegetarian or non-meat/dairy places, which can be hard to find nearby). BUT, I probably wouldn’t be back otherwise. My last two visits included the ‘Mysteriously Larger Check Than I Expected’ trick! This is just ridiculous. I told the man about my experience the previous time and requested to pay /in advance/this time, with him telling me the total ahead of time. He quoted me $ 9.49, rather indignantly. He really didn’t want me to pay in advance, but since he told me the total I was ok with it. I paid after the meal(falafel plate this time instead of the sandwich — this is very tasty) and guess what… total was $ 10.70-something. I finally figured out by looking at the ‘menu’ again(these are simply dirty, crumpled xeroxed pages) that he has raised the prices by a dollar, and may be too out of it to notice that the menu prices are old)…so my $ 8.49 according to the menu falafel plate magically became $ 9.49 + tax. He was quoting me the price before tax with the new, unwritten price. Such a deal! Not… Then the next visit(yes, I am a glutton for punishment!) included something worse than an ununnounced price increase — the kibbeh(forget the name exactly — this was the long pieces of grilled meat made of ground beef) consisted of VERY undercooked and COOL pink meat on the inside, though the outside was cooked well(he probably cooked it at a high heat and it seared the outside but left the inside cool). I wondered at first, ‘is it /supposed/to be this way? No, I don’t think so!”. I asked him very politelty if he could cook it properly for me and he did try, but I think he just warmed it up since the meat inside still remained light pink with an gross, uncooked ground meat flavor — pretty nauseating and potentially dangerous to my health. No more… the falafel plate is overpriced but reliable so when necessary to eat here I think I’ll stick with the falafel… good luck!

This place had amazing food, and the man running it was very sweet. I went in for lunch, ordered the combo special. The man took my order and then cooked it himself, a one-man-show. He told me to pay afterwards, and brought my food to me along with silverware. It was DELICIOUS. I was headed out and he cashiered me: when he told me the price, I handed him cash with the total plus a few dollars for a tip. He said«too much» and I said no, I’m tipping… to which he replied«one moment, one moment… dessert». I of course waited, and he disappeared for a minute and reappeared with a piece of baklava for me. It was touching. I wish there were more customers in there to give him business, because the food was great and I love the little hole-in-the-wall restaurants!

This place suffers from some serious lack of advertising!!! For such a Mom and Pop hole in the wall looking place… youd never expect to find what I believe is some of the BEST Arab food in Dallas… the Kebabs will knock your socks off! Tender and juicy slightly lemony they are perfecly cooked and the Hummos is fantastic as well! I havent tried all the dishes but the Falafel even is awesome with a bit of a spicy hint without beeing too spicyyy(7arb bas shwayiii) Ive stoped in quite a few times to practice my 3arabi and fill up on AMAZING Arabic food… the food never fails! though my arabic sometimes does! In fact the only bad thing about this place is the lack of advertising… I really hope this place makes it. it would be a true shame for us to loose the Best Arabic food in Plano! So all of you Drop what your doing and GONOW! YALLAH!

I wanted to like this place but I struggled with the whole place. I tend to seek out local places like this to support non-chain establishments. It will be a struggle to convince my family to come back here. We ordered three wraps(sanwiches) the Falafel, Shawarma and the Kefta Kebab. The wrap overwhelmed all of the sandwiches. When you do get a hint of the stuffing the sandwich is excellent. I could have given another star judging the food alone. But I just could not do it! The sleeping owner(see picture) should have had us making a u-turn out the door. The other crap thing about the place is their ice dispenser. It sits to the right of the cashier’s counter and it looks like a rust bucket. They refill it with ice from the back, using a dirty plastic 5 gallon bucket. The ice made our drinks taste like garden hose water. So we had to purchase more drinks. I hope the water taste is due to using unfiltered Plano tap water, which starts tasting like crap in August and not because the ice was filthy. Gross!

This place is seriously disappointing. I didn’t walk in with extremely high expectations to be honest but even my mediocre bar was gracefully limboed under. When me and my girlfriend decided to visit we weren’t greeted and seated at the door, rather we were awkwardly stared at by the owner who was casually reclining on the opposite side of the room eating grapes. We were the only two customer in there at the time yet he still found it professional to take his time to get up and leisurely stroll over to us at a pace best described as glacial to tell us to sit anywhere we like but not before pointing at the counter across the room where we could grab our own menus. Being the good sports we are we went ahead and ordered two falafel sandwiches and a plate of hummus. Despite the fact that my bar of standards was pretty much lying on the floor at this time I was still let down. The ding of a microwave coming from the kitchen in a small restaurant where you are the only two customers can only mean one thing. You are about to eat something that has been sitting around for a while. At this point service continued along in the same fashion it started in with him ringing a little bell for the only two patrons in his establishment to come grab their own plate of oily hummus and re-heated falafels. When asked for a beverage I was pointed to the corner where a container of warm water sat on a table ready for more of that charmingly amazing self service to do it’s magic. At this point the only thing that could save this place would be some incredibly fantastical edibles that would counter balance the owner’s lackadaisical attitude, but I wasn’t counting on it. The falafel was bland and oily, probably from sitting around all day and then being revived in the microwave. The hummus was curious tasting at best and it and the water which I was drinking unsettling enough shared the same after taste. I have my own theories on why, but I’d rather not fill this review with my wild speculations. During our meal the owner came over and asked us if we were enjoying the sandwiches with a great amount more enthusiasm than he had showed the entire time we were there. All things said I would make a stern recommendation to not dine here for any reason other than morbid curiosity. If you insist on venturing here regardless I’d suggest you do it soon, I doubt they’ll be around much longer.
