Chocolate Angel Cafe & Tea Room

Great place for afternoon tea. I liked the veg sandwiches and cream puff. Food was fresh. Variety of sandwiches and cookies in small size is the speciality here. Ambience and the tea cups are very decorative. Perfect place for high tea.

Today, I hosted a baby shower for my sister-​in-​law at the Plano location. We reserved the side room, which was furnished with french provencial furnishings and shabby chic décor. The china tea cups and saucers were beautiful. We brought our own baby shower decorations and party favors for our 20 guests.
It is so strange to read the reviews on here because one of the best things about my experience was Melissa. We reserved the room for High Tea from 1:15 — 3:15. The food was really cute and we were given a choice of teas to be served with different courses. The ladies were so busy talking and having a good time that we sorta ran out of time and there was not enough time for the mommy-​to-​be to finish opening her gifts. Melissa saved the day by rearranging seating with the group after ours so that both parties were happy. I didn’t even ask her to do this, she just handled it while I was trying to figure out how to graciously boot my guests out at the appointed time.
She also was so gracious with every single request I made. I asked for the dessert to be served at a different time than they usually do and there was no problem. She was also so great about answering my questions over the phone before the event. The wait staff was really nice and very accommodating. Every request was met with a «yes.»
I don’t usually write reviews, but we had such a good time and were so happy at the Chocolate Angel that I had to.

This is such a cute place! My favorite thing to eat here is The Chocolate Angel «Croque Monsieur.» The addition of apples and apple butter make this sandwich so delicious. Also, their strawberry pretzel salad is pretty good. Sounds like a weird combo but trust me it’s yummy. Their scones are wonderful and their seasonal pumpkin torte is also a must try.

Just had lunch today at this café on (parker Rd, frisco) with 2 friends. I have to say I expected more .the fact that it was in a strip mall disappointed me. I have been to tea rooms in Florida and other places that were old home recoverted, and they lent a wonderful ‘tea room’ ambiance that this place never could. Their indoor décor well, shabby chic?, kind of quaint… The food was very so-so.I ordered the «veggie delite» and there was nothing «delightful «about it. the bread seemed (day old).I removed it and ate the veggies inside, and the spread on the bread was lacking in flavor and creaminess seemed dry also.
I shared a dessert with one of my guests (coconut cake) and it was sugar on steroids!!, much too sweet to enjoy… the prices were too high in my opinion for the lack of quality in their food. sorry to say I. will not return. :(

Love this place! The place is vintage looking which is really put well together. Great location also! You can’t miss it; right across the carter blood care. My favorites are the «some like it hot» and the fiesta Cobb salad! Also all the goodies! Very hard to resist all the cookies! As well as the desserts! Love the strawberry cake!!! Absolutely recommend having parties here. They have a private room just for any kind of party. Attended a tea here and the finger food was so good! The tea desserts don’t disappoint either. Awesome service, quick and swift. Great place to gather with friends and catch up. I will certainly be coming back here often!

Absolutely adorable place for tea and lunch. The food is incredible, the cakes and pie is incredible!!! The servers could use a bit more training and they could add 2 more durring their lunch rush. Always a pleasant experience and the décor is just adorable!

My sister-​in-​laws & I had a 12:45 reservation for five. Before we arrived two of our group had to cancel. When we arrived the hostess acted as though she didn’t want to seat 3 at a 5 person table, so we were polite & said we would wait for another small table. In a few moments she seated 2 ladies at that table!?? We waited 45min for a table. No apologies, nothing! This was very rude & as we saw while waiting, if you’re a regular customer you are ushered to a table very promptly.
So, that being said, if you are visiting here you may want to try another eating establishment that is considerate to all patrons.
Basic review: very noisy, tables are very close together, food is good & customer service is horrible.

Blown away by my lunch experience at Chocolate Angel /​Plano today. It was my first time at Chocolate Angel. I ordered a BLT. As soon as it arrived, I noticed that there was a ladybug on the sandwich. I calmly told the waiter that there was a bug on my sandwich. He was very apologetic and kind. They remade the sandwich and brought me a new one. I suffer with OCD, so this was difficult for me. But, after checking the second sandwich and not seeing any evidence of bugs, I did eat it since my friend and I had driven a bit and had been planning this lunch date since May. When it was time to pay our check, I mentioned to the waiter that I was sure there would be a discount or something applied due to the bug being on the sandwich. He seemed confident that this wouldn’t be a problem. However, he returned a few minutes later saying that he had checked with the manager and since they had made a new sandwich, there wouldn’t be any discount. I asked to speak with the manager. She came over and informed me that the «policy» is that if that happens and new food is made, there is no discount given. Apparently if I had eaten half of the sandwich and then found the bug, there is a different policy. Sad that you have to have a «policy» on bugs on food. She said she had checked with the owner. I asked if the owner was in. She was. The owner explained to me that she was on the phone with the owner of the other Chocolate Angel and that they both agreed that there would be no discount. She said the restaurant had taken a loss on the first sandwich. Her reaction was, «What do you want?» in a very demeaning tone. I explained that most eating establishments would be embarrassed by such a situation and would want to make the situation right. Both of my children are in the restaurant industry and I know what would happen at both of the restaurants that they work at — the entire meal (2 people) would have been comped. I wasn’t asking for that. It wasn’t even a matter of paying for the sandwich, it was the way they handled it. No one apologized except for the waiter. That is until I said that I would be happy to let the media and social media know. Then, when we were leaving the manager did come outside of the establishment and tell me she was sorry for the situation. I told her that was all I wanted the entire time, was for someone to say — «This isn’t the norm, we’re sorry this happened. Please give us another chance.» It wasn’t until I said I was going to complain through other means that they even said this. VERY disappointed in my experience.

Sweet little place for afternoon tea or sandwiches with the girls. Been here several times– the shabby chic interior and tea service are a perfect fit for bridal and baby showers. On this visit I ordered the Duex platter– pimento cheese sandwich with spinach salad– not super healthy but tasty. My son loves the Mac and cheese here which comes with a side of fruit.

Wonderful time out with the gals for lunch! Get there early or call ahead BC it FETs busy quickly. It is surrounded by antiques, which are lovely to look at! The food is so incredibly tasty and not too heavy. Great desserts! No alcohol if that’s your ‘cup of tea.’ A lot of older women so its never really loud. Very classy place! The staff is great, along with the atmosphere.

So Ms. Jones and her handsome, rock star, Cordon Bleu trained (yes, all that is 100% true for the record) husband stopped in for a little sweet after a romantic lunch we shared at a bistro near by before we headed home on this rainy afternoon. Geesh! What a mistake in judgement Ms. Jones had with The Chocolate Angel – it was absolutely dreadful. We ordered two brownies from the counter and scurried outside to a secluded table on their front patio to eat what we thought were going to be delightfully delicious treats… all that came to an end when hubby placed our bag of treats on the table and they sounded like two bricks landing after being dropped from a plane. Think I’m exaggerating??? Think AGAIN! I looked cautiously at my loving husband as I proceeded to take one brownie out of the bag and ceremoniously hit it against the table only to find it to be hard as a rock – COMPLETELY brick-​like. As we looked at each other we slowly unwrapped these unfortunate culinary creations and slowly took our respective bites. Heavy, heavy sigh… they were TERRIBLE. It was quite obvious that there was no way on this God given Earth that these were made within the last 48 hours. They were SO BAD in fact that we ended up taking two bites and leaving the rest behind and for those of you who know the two of us, that NEVER happens! The owner and employees of this establishment should be ashamed of themselves for serving such garbage. Yuck, yuck and more yuck. We won’t be back and Ms. Jones’ tip of the day for you is this: Keep on driving, you won’t find what you’re looking for here.

I can’t believe this place is even in business.
We stopped by and bought two chocolate brownies thinking that they would be mouth watering since the word is in the name of the business. WRONG!
As we sat at the table and I put the bag down I heard a thumb which isn’t a good sign when you are setting pastries of any kind on a table.
With the first bite my wife and I looked at each other and could not believe how old they tasted. We were there on Tuesday and I am sure they had to have had been baked on Friday. Unbelievable that a place that calls themselves a tea room would serve such crap.
If you in the area of Parker and Preston and find yourself craving something sweet… KEEP DRIVING!
You would be better off grabbing a donut at 7−11…really.

Super cute restaurant for a ladies lunch. The food tasted delicious and the décor was nice. So… my reason for a 1 star review is the customer service. I ordered a salad for my lunch, but didn’t want to eat too much as I’m trying to watch my calories. I asked for my salad to be split and if I could be served only ½ of the salad and the other half to be put in a «to-​go» box. Not really a big request. My reasoning is that if the whole delicious salad is in front of me, I’m going to probably eat it all. My own issue with willpower, but splitting the salad is an easy solution. The waitress said, «I’ll check and see, but I don’t think they will do it». Call me crazy, but I thought this response was a bit odd. Waitress comes back a minute later and says, «they said no». I acted like it was all ok, but I was pretty disappointed. I don’t see how this was much of a request and I don’t see why it couldn’t be accommodated. From the other reviewers, I can see that customer service is an issue. Pretty disappointing for a lunch that could have been delightful. When small requests are granted to a customer, the customer will tell all of their friends… same goes for when a small request is denied. Sorry, but I’m telling all of my friends about my negative experience. Food was good, but I won’t be returning.

I attended a baby shower in the private room and everything went smoothly. The staff was very attentive. The salad was delicious but the wedding cake was ok. I heard their fudge pie was great. Overall, I would recommend having an event here.

Let me be very clear… This review is for the Chocolate Angel at PRESTON AND PARKER Richardson and East Plano are better by a country mile!
The food is really delicious, and the atmosphere is darling. I am in love with the strawberry pretzel salad, taco soup, and pimento cheese. Don’t show up for afternoon tea. We were served one glass of tea and promptly given our ticket… It was obvious they were not interested in serving us. We asked for a refill of mango iced tea, and were told they were out. They offered no substitution, and the staff disappeared. This location is more for lunch only.
So why 1 stars? If I were to review the unprofessional owner, I would give this place no stars at all. The servers are sweet, and I have seen first hand, Melissa, the owner, treat her staff poorly. For the life of me, I do not understand how Melissa owns a business. We were planning a baby shower, and after an encounter with Melissa, we quickly decided that while we adore Chocolate Angel, we would not do business with Melissa. We contacted the other two Chocolate Angels, and both managers were frustrated that they get bad reviews based on Melissa’s location.
As with any event, we had questions about hosting the baby shower there. My friend and I have been eating there for years, and knew this is where we wanted the shower. And then we met Melissa. She was rude, unaccommodating, and basically told us that she really wasn’t concerned if we booked a shower, because she has enough business to say no. We were shocked by her rude demeanor and dismissive attitude. She walked off as we were asking questions. The poor waitress tried to answer some questions, but said she couldn’t answer our questions. After asking to speak to Melissa again, we were told she was in a business meeting. Funny; she was leaning against the wall sipping her iced tea… Meeting of one anyone?
If you want to lunch with a friend, the food really is good. However, their dessert selection is not even close to the options at the Richardson and Plano East location. They always have excuses why they don’t have any cake on certain days. After eating at this location since they opened, one encounter with Melissa was enough that we drive to a different location where the business owners actually provide a better selection, and are a pleasure to deal with. They actually enjoy having guests at the other locations. The Plano location acts as if they are doing YOU a favor by dining there.
Please be wary before planning an event at the Plano location. As disappointed as we were with Melissa’s dismissive and rude attitude, we went on a few Saturdays to watch how they handled events. During one baby shower, the guests were told they needed to leave. The guests at the shower were carrying unwrapped baby shower gifts to cars, and were helping take down the decorations because Melissa marched in and insisted they leave immediately. Everyone (meaning the guests) were having to help the mom to be evacuate the room, and you could see stern Melissa telling them to go. In the meantime, another group that had booked the room had shown up and were blocking the entrance, because they did not have adequate time to set up. Melissa overbooks in a very obvious way. It was so chaotic, we just stared at the train wreck, and felt sorry for both parties.
We were also told, verbatim, by Melissa, that all guests must have the same exact food. You can’t even choose between a simple item like chicken salad or tuna salad. Her explanation was that the food had to come out hot. That was an odd statement because they don’t serve anything hot for parties. They increase the price to more than double, but there are no choices. Melissa told us, «It is just like going to someone else’s house. You eat what is served and you like it.» Wow; just wow. For your sanity, do not book an event here… You will be sorry. Or just go on a Saturday and watch the madness.
We were also told that under no circumstance do they move their tables. They said they were way to fragile to move. I understand that, and respect it. Until we watched them move tables around on every Saturday we ware there. As I stated before, the other owners of the other locations vented their frustration with Melissa. We were told she trained in the Richardson store, and was a source of constant customer complaints. When your own colleagues think you have no business acumen, that pretty much says it all.

To start off, I was recommended to this place by a few people so maybe my expectations were set a bit high.
I called ahead to make reservations. Tea time starts at 3:30pm. When making the reservation I asked for 4pm, but the woman insisted on 3:30pm. I wanted the later time so that I could invite more people, but oh well. I ended up giving in and booking the 3:30pm for three people. I thought maybe they were filling up and that’s why the lady wouldn’t give the 4pm.
We arrive and the place was empty. Completely empty. The entire time. No one. Nada. Anyways when we were seated my chair was falling apart, like when you purchase a chair at a garage sale and the woven parts are coming undone and you worry about splinters, But hey the deco was very country vintage so it fits I guess. While our waitress was explaining how everything with the tea would happen we noticed there was no music. Which I wouldn’t even notice until we are waiting and being the only table it was a very awkward silence… But they put on music eventually. One thing I will say is that our waitress did not fit. Nothing personal its just that when coming to a place for high afternoon tea and in general I would prefer to have someone serving with a uniform maybe? or a dress code? Our waitress (who was nice btw) had a dirty shirt with maybe flour? or a white powder on it and facial piercings and I don’t mind piercings but not when i’m taking my mother out to high tea. or even like a clear piercing?
On to the afternoon tea. We were given two types of loose leaf tea, one at the beginning which was a fruity tea and the second towards the end when served the desserts was a ‘chocolate’ tea. Both were pretty tasty. I liked that the sugar provided had cubes of regular white and brown. When we were served the assortment of food, it was plated so everyone had a plate with each of the featured items on it. This was a bit of a let down for me personally. I really enjoy having a tower with sweets, scones, sandwiches and warm items decided on each layer. I think its much more adorable and enhances the experiences, but what do i know.
On to the food which I read what they were featuring on the website already so I was excited for my special little items that were prepared before arriving hence the required reservations. First I tried the white chocolate scone, it was pretty good and warm and went well with the warm tea. The two types of tea sandwiches were gross. The bread was really dry, the cucumber had a dry hard cream cheese and the cheese looked like orange cottage cheese with peppers. The petite quiche was warm and good I liked that the bottom was crispy. Chicken salad had coconut in it which would be a good idea but didn’t do it for me. I really liked the fruit though! They put a poppy seed dressing on it and that was good.
Then was dessert time. Each of us received a shortbread type of cookie, a sugar type of cookie with a almond frosting and a fudge I believe. The cookies were ok and I liked the one with almond frosting. Nothing special.
That leads me to my overall experience, while the deco was cute. The service really was not there and we had to call the girl over multiple times though we were the only table there. The tea was a good assortment of loose leaf teas, the food and cookies were nothing special. Sadly I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it just wasn’t happening.

This place is lovely! It’s adorable on the inside and makes you feel like you’re in a small town, vintage tea room/​bakery. Their food is wonderful and the pastries & desserts are to die for (especially the thumb print cookies)! The food is what some would refer to as «chick food» but if you’re looking for «Euro lunch,» light & fresh made with quality ingredients, this is the place.
Only disclaimer I have is I wish it were in a cuter location that matched the atmosphere inside, and for light food and small portions it’s slightly expensive. But quality over quantity is what leads.

It’s a quaint tea room place for ladies who lunch. I had a salad plate that had a bunch of items on it and they were just ok. Kinda dry also a little pricey for what I got. I liked the little pimento cheese finger sandwich thingy that I had. I wouldn’t come here on the regular but it’s out of the ordinary… I would prefer to make the trek over to Celebrity Bakery for some yummy lunch and iced tea.

My friend and I are very disappointed. Decent customer service, but poor food quality. Thought the afternoon tea set should have contained their signature food. The cucumber sandwich is totally a joke, and the celing is too. It’s not worth 20 dollars per person at all.

I searched high and low for weeks to find the perfect tea room/​high tea to bing my mom and mother-​in-​law to. The only places that I could find were a few in the Dallas area. I called to make reservations at 2 of them with no returned phone call or email. At my last attempt at searching and scouring Unilocal,Chocolate Angel came up on the 2^nd or 3^rd page. At that point I just needed a place. I called the morning of the afternoon I needed the reservation for, they were very accommodating. I got off the phone, jumped for joy and prayed that they wouldn’t disappoint. (I live in Frisco and could not believe that they were actually so close as well! Extra happy for that)
First off, location is in a strip center area. Behind where Sunflower Farmer’s Market used to be and the the East (behind) Anamias. I peculiar spot, and not one that I would have just stumbled upon. When we walked in, we were transported to the cutest little English cottage. The décor is shabby-​chic, very vintage and extremely cute. They have a separate little area for their afternoon teas, which can be reserved for parties. Our place was already set and awaiting our arrival.
We started off with the «meal tea» that was a white tea with some sort of pineapple infusion– it was DELiCiOUS!!! I think I had at least 3 cups. For teas, the tea is limitless. The service is impeccable and the details are definitely paid attention to. I was thinking it would be just a light snack. No, we had a fruit cup with a really tasty glaze, 2 Cucumber, dill and cream cheese sandwich bites, pimento cheese sandwich, curried puff, another croissant ham yumminess and a cranberry white chocolate scone! Holy Non gluten free yumminess! It was worth suffering for, however, I did learn that with advanced notice, they can do gluten free. How incredible is that for service and putting the customer first?!
Next were the most divine desserts EVER! With literally the most incredible iced sugar cookie I’ve ever had in my life (totally not exaggerating). The pink icing was perfection. A chocolate cake ball that tasted like fudge and a pecan moon cookie. The dessert tea is a PiNK almond flavored tea, it was so Amazing that I bought a bag of it to bring home.
All in all, this was my first «high tea» and one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The atmosphere, service and food quality was phenomenal. I can’t wait to bring my husband here to celebrate our newfound «Downton Abbey» obsession. This would be a really great place for lunch as well. Or even to get some tasty treats for a party.
