1st Quality Lock & Key

First time coming in, stopped by looking to get 8 keys cut for work. Steve had me in and out in under 10 minutes. NICEST guy, and he has prices lower than the kiosks. Will definitely be a loyal customer to this wonderful small Plano business!

I had a safe lock and dial replaced this week and used 1^st Quality Lock and Key. Steve, the owner, was very helpful and even offered another option that would have taken my business from him. I was impressed by his honesty willingness to do what was best for me, even if it meant him not gaining a customer. Ultimately, I decided to do what I set out to and Steve replaced my safe lock and dial. He did a tremendous job and was very courteous; highly recommended!

I was referred to 1^st quality lock and key by my friend Jennifer yesterday morning when after I dropped my daughter off at school and got home my door would not unlock even with a key, no matter what i did i couldnt open the door and get inside and i needed to be at work. I was frantic and my apts didnt consider my situation to be an emergency, so Jennifer told me about 1^st quality lock and key and I called them in tears and told him my unfortunate situation, within 30 minutes one of their men were at my door and immediatly got to work. Well come to find out a pin had dropped in my lock cylinder and had to be drilled out, he knew i had to be at work so within 20 minutes of showing up I was shaking his hand from the inside of my apt, thanking him for saving me in my sticky situation… and to top it all off at a reasonable price. I not only recommend this place, I will never deal with another lock smith company!!!

A small shop with great service. BUT, they no longer produce replacement automobile keys from VIN numbers. The owner said that with most new cars using key fob entry/​ignition, it just wasn’t worth it. Bummer, but I’d go back for my other needs.

I was seeking to duplicate a set of keys for an ’82 Chevy El Camino. After visiting a couple of big box hardware stores and calling several local key & lock businesses, I was still unable to find a local retailer who had the correct template for one of the 3 car keys. I called 1^st Quality Lock & Key, provided the specs, and was encouraged to hear they would be able to assist without any delay. Five minutes after walking into their modest storefront, multiple key copies had been cut (on OEM-​style blanks, no less!), the extremely competitive transaction was complete, and I was on my way. By comparison, 1^st Quality Lock & Key had me all taken care of in less time than it took me to park and walk all the way to the key cutting kiosks of the two big box hardware stores with which I’d unsuccessfully begun.

So I came here as a last resort for a key copy after a disastrous outing to A-​1 Locksmith in Plano (see my review).
The guy here immediately recognized what the other shop did wrong TWO times.
He made the copy, I tried it out, and I’m done! PLUS 1^st Quality was $ 1 cheaper and the guy could not have been nicer!
This place has my business now!
If you need keys, locks, etc… I recommend this place… convenient to Plano, Richardson, and Far North Dallas

It is amazing what locksmiths can do and get in to. They are very nice and can seemingly get in to or re-​key anything. They got me a new key and it took no time. I have never had a safe but there are some cool ones in their store.
