History

Established in 1985.

The Temple got its start meeting in people’s homes and renting space, first at a local church and then in the Mid Island Y-​JCC. While at the JCC, we made a concerted effort to find a permanent home. 5 Acres of land were purchased on Washington Avenue in Plainview, and we built an amazing synagogue. Membership grew to over 500 families and the Religious School has over 400 children. The congregation is led by Rabbi Jonathan Hecht, Rabbi Debra Bennet, and Cantor Hyman and a dedicated group of lay leaders.

Meet the Manager

Rabbi H.

Manager

Rabbi H is the senior rabbi. He was ordained by Hebrew Union College-​Jewish Institute of Religion in 1987, and received a Ph.D. at New York University in Jewish History in 1993. He is married to Gladys and has three children, Deborah, Gabriel and Samuel. He loves dance and golf.
