Spider roll was stale and nasty. Ok service. Didnt offer anything for lousy food. Never again.

Great spicy tuna roll which I tend to be very picky about. Lunch special was a little over $ 10 for two rolls, salad and soup. The miso soup was a little off(no tofu). Otherwise, solid place.

Food is very good but service is slow. Never enough help. Also take out time is always double what they tell you. How many times can someone expect to wait for take out or wait at tables. Sooner or later the food doesn’t matter.

The food is ok, i had better sushi! The service was horrible, the male waiter that we had was so rude, his tone of voice gave us a vibe as if they dint need our business, it was like he dint care that he had customers, all the doors in that place were open so flies and gnats were flying around, i even saw the sushi chef swat one with a rag from his sushi table and the lady was using an electric swatter… gross! Never coming back to this place! It has change for the worst! Btw we came in at 3:30pm and the asian guy was complaining on how we came in during their lunch break, btw the restaurant was open and if they dint want customers they should close then!

First of all, server had no smiles, no expression and of course no greeting upon coming up to my table to take order.(Please dont get me wrong, I smiled, greeted first, and was polite the whole time I was there.) After food was served he didn’t come once to check if we needed anything. We had to call other passing by servers to get what we needed twice. Now food. We ordered Mongolian beef, Peking duck roll and pad thai. Mongolian beef dish was just ok, just same as what you would get from any Chinese take out place but with much higher pice tag. Peking duck roll was missing the plum sauce flavor big time. Now pad thai. I personally got offended on this dish because I love pad thai and jumped with joy when I saw it in the menu. It was the worst pad thai I’ve ever tasted at a restaurant. Noodles were just so dry and egg was all clumped up in a bunch and no peanut taste at all. Will not come back to this place because it’s just like a Chinese take out restaurant that jacks up the price by adding sushi to their menu to call it a Japanese sushi place.

They have the best spicy tuna sushi, ever. I am very particular w how spicy tuna sushi tastes and this place exceeds my expectations. The rice to sushi ratio is perfect and the sushi is so fresh and flavorful. And the lunch special is a steal. Update: Sad to say that I have tasted better spicy tuna sushi. In comparison, I think they could mix less sauce with the tuna when making it «spicy.» Sometimes I find the sushi too mushy and at times I taste too much added flavor and less sushi. Perhaps that is something chef-based but it would be nice if the sushi could be more consistent each time, regardless of who is making it.

Great bang for your buck as far as sushi. Food is always fresh. Love getting the Bento boxes as it always has a little of everything. Lunch special also worth it.

The front of the restaurant is dimly lit, creates a very peaceful ambiance throughout. Warm sake was amazing, all the waitstaff were very attentive. Started with shrimp tempura with a great spicy mayoish sauce, and a koni salad. Both were awesome. Had the Tiger Roll for my entrée and it was great. It’s also very fairly priced considering the food and neighborhood. Great spot, would recommend it for sure.

I’ve been here a few times over the years and it seems the quality of food is hit-and-miss with each visit. The lunch special is still an affordable option for the area. I personally have focused more on eating the rolls and sushi from here, but they seem to have a lot of Thai and other Asian entrees now. In the most recent visit, I had a spicy tuna roll which wasn’t bad but was tiny– $ 6 for six tiny pieces didn’t feel right to me. My friends had the entrees and I got a taste of the pineapple rice which was very heavy on the lime and basil flavor. The fancier rolls seemed too heavy on the sauces. However, the bento options came in big portions. Overall, I think this place is better than what I would expect of mall sushi but it’s doesn’t have a wow factor.

I’ve been to this location a few times for work lunches and I always leaves happy. The most recent time I decided, instead of sushi, I would try a bento box. So happy I did. The meal started with the Rock Shrimp Appetizer. This never disappoints. Next came the bento box. Salad and Miso soup to start which were good, so we’re the California rolls. The main entrée is where this meal really shines. Kung Pao Shrimp with a couple of Shaumi. Delicious and great presentation. I’ll definitely be back.

Best sushi for such good deals. Got a lunchbox for $ 11 that was delicious with large quantity. Staff very friendly and atmosphere nice. Highly recommend!

I mostly go for their take-out sushi lunch specials. $ 9 for two rolls, soup and salad. It’s pretty good. Special rolls are expensive for lunch at $ 14 each but I’ve tried a few before and they are good. Atmosphere is nothing special. Guy at the front has an attitude sometimes.

The sushi here is okay. It’s pleasant neighborhood spot but not one I’d drive out to. The hand rolls and shumai were good. Just one thing was off. The black tobiko had a off scent and a off putting taste which was odd because the other colored tobikos were significantly pleasant. I expect tobiko to be mild and delicate; I feel it should be an element which adds texture to sushi — not an component which overpowers the fish’s flavor.

Very good sushi spot, that is somewhat hidden in a strip mall. Been here many times and always found the sushi to be on-point. The service is always friendly. The atmosphere is comfortable. I definitely recommend this location over the one in Woodbury. On my visits to the Woodbury location, the noise level in that location is much higher and the seating felt much more cramped. Pro tips: –If you like edamame: Try their ‘Spicy Edamame’. –Even though I’m a Mets fan: Their ‘Yankees Roll’ is a home run. –Try the ‘Chris’s Roll’(Chilean sea bass roll), yum. –Ordering take-out from this place on Valentine’s day was a total mess, beware.

I’m taking away all stars. I’ve always said this was wonderful sushi, but I am changing my mind. I will never come back. Simple order: tuna avocado roll and California roll. 2 roll lunch special with soup and salad. The soup wasn’t hot, and they didn’t seem to care. Walked away and came back offering to microwave the soups. No thanks. Tuna roll was chopped and an unsavory color. Pale beige. I told the waitress i wasn’t happy with the texture or color of the tuna, she told me that that is the color tuna always is and that they always serve it shredded in roll. Lies.lies.lies. I have been coming here for years. i said take it all back I’m not paying(side note: no tobiko on cali roll.) After a discussion with tbe sushi chef she came and took my plate and said the chef would make special for me: not chopped. Great! What came back was disgusting and not tuna either. It was a beige/pink almost yellowish«not choppped» piece of fish in a roll with avocado. I said forget it. My friend ordered SPICYTUNA and her tuna was tuna colored. The waitress tried to tell me that the spicy tuna was red because of Chili powder. Do I look that dumb? She even tried to tell me that sometimes the seaweed makes tuna look darker than it really is(I had ordered in soy paper.) Another discussion with the chef, they took my plate back again, and brought me back a more tuna colored tuna and avocado roll. Which i wouldn’t have eaten if they paid me. SAYONARARUBYSUSHI.

Oh dear what happened Ruby? We came for your former great lunch specials instead we got lunch disaster Let me start First off the miso soup at best was lukewarm… waitress was told and she offered to microwave our bowls no thanks Our green salad was ok and their dressing is decent but that’s about all that could be salvaged Here come our rolls My friends was supposed to be tuna and avocado instead it was some shredded fish with a chunk of avocado eww this was clearly not the nice chunk of tuna they used to serve. My spicy crunchy tuna roll was ok and clearly my chopped tuna was not the same tuna as the other«tuna» roll When the waitress was told about the tuna avocado roll she argued with us… huh argue? Really telling us the tuna picks up color from the seaweed? Uh no dear we have been eating sushi since we were knee high to grasshoppers Oh yeah my sweet potato roll hard potato Sorry rude waitress we are not coming back

Good local Japanese restaurant although chefs are not Japanese. Believe they’re Chinese. Sushi is fresh and prices are decent. For dessert, try the intensely coffee flavored cappuccino truffle. Fried ice cream however was disappointing.

After being inundated with delicious fishy friends numerous times in the past week I craved something cooked. Yes, Steph the Sushi-loving food monster wanted something that was thrown over a flame for awhile. Who could blame me? The tofu steak was essentially comprised of well marinated strips of the ‘fu cooked to perfection outside. The ‘fu was strong with this one and held together extra firm style. Tasted teriyaki-like but more sweet. Came perched atop a bed of vegetables cooked in the same marinade. Substantial portion and presentation for only $ 5. Shumai came with shrimp filling and was drenched in a lovely sauce. The chicken soba noodle bowl was large and hearty. The chicken tasted boiled and bland but the broth and the metric ton of veggies swimming around inside well made up for the chicken. My Sukiyaki was flavorful albeit a little oily. The veggies were cooked well but the shrimp in it was abysmally bad. Super overcooked and tough. Ugh, I really should have sent it back but our waitress touted such a puss and was actually rushing us(on a slow weeknight, mind you) I didn’t want to be bothered. The interior was comfortable and much less«in-your-face-trendy» than some of the other restaurants in the same shopping center. I enjoyed watching the sushi chefs work their magic in front of me during the course of our meal. Free wifi to use from starsmucks next door. I’ll definitely be back for the sushi and hopefully have a better experience.

Two words: Spicy Edamame. Two more words: Yankee Roll.(Pssssst…it’s okay to order the Yankee roll if you’re really a Met’s fan, I won’t tell anyone) We get the Yankee roll EVERY time we come here. Salmon and mango, topped with spicy tuna? Yes, please. If you’re a fan of Chilean sea bass, check out Chris’s roll. The Tokyo roll(yellowtail and avocado with tuna and jalapeño topped with a sesame sauce) you should also try, because I told you so. I really can’t understand why the heck this place only has 3.5 stars. The sushi here is one of the best that I’ve had. I’ve been here more times than I can remember. Though the Plainview area has no shortage of Japanese/Sushi joints, this stands head and shoulders above the competition. The staff is attentive and friendly, there’s never been a wait when I have come here, and the interior is nicely decorated. You’re not seated on top of other patrons, and it’s relatively quiet. And not only that, I’ve NEVER had a bad sushi experience. I can’t say that for other similar restaurants that I frequent. Every time I have come here, I have left sushi satisfied. The fish is top-quality, very fresh. I have tried samples of other mainstay items(ie. chicken teriyaki) and it was also very good. You’re guaranteed to love this place, or your money back. ***disclaimer*** I cannot actually process any refunds as I have massive graduate loans to pay back. Just trust me that this place delivers sushi goodness.
