We ordered to-go. Serving size was above average Food– Delicious. The food was ready fairly quickly after placing our order. Friendly staff. Will return!

The meal starts off with complimentary cole slaw and half-sour and sour pickles. I had the beef tongue sandwich with plenty of brown mustard, which was very good. My father had the lean corned beef and my mother had a kosher hot dog. The deli meats are delicious here. This place is great for lunch.

I hadn’t been into the Regal deli in some years, but tonight I was feeling Matzoh Ball Soup. I stopped in around 6 and the place was pretty empty. I ordered some soup & a Turkey sandwich Being a Delicatessen(vs corner deli /sandwich shop) I guess I expected more. I thought I saw on the board that the turkey was pulled rather than just sliced(like a sandwich shop) I also ordered another sandwich & knish. I was a little surprised when the plain sandwiches were rung up and seemed to be a few dollars over the price on the board. When I got home I realized the sliced meat … Disappointing… Very overpriced and not as advertised … Sorry Regal. I think that was the last time. For what I paid, I could have fed 3x the amount of people with a higher quality meal

We stopped here on Christmas day because it was one of the few places open. Having said that, I love Kosher food and I’ve always enjoyed a good deli. Unfortunately, this was a big disappointment. We ordered two entrees off of the specials board(that confronts you as you walk in): corned beef and cabbage and beef and noodles. Without getting into all of the details both were served cold and were absolutely flavorless. They also charged us $ 45.00. What really bothered me was that the way this place does business. If you can tell from the picture you’ll see that in the upper right hand corner the words, «dine in only» is rubbed off. When I confronted the man behind the counter about this after he rang me up he acted as if it was a big surprise to him. It’s little things like that that turn me off. Of course, if you like tasteless food and paying high prices this might not be a total waste of your time like it was for me.

This place is great. For lunch the other day, my co-workers and I decided to try them. We usually order from Ben’s if we want to go have Kosher deli. I am a huge fan of corned beef so I decided to try their corned beef on rye sandwich. I’m Irish and I consider corned beef to be the Jewish/Irish connection. LOL. It was flavorful, juicy and just fatty enough! Absolutely perfect! I will definitely order from there again. It’s a little expensive, but along the same price as Ben’s. I also had a bowl of matzo ball soup and that was great too.

The only reason this place is getting three starts is because of how good quality the hot dogs are. Wow! This is the second time in there, only because it’s local to my job. The customer services is horrible. The guy that rings you up is miserable, lol. Not to mention, this place is over priced.

Had a cold and was craving matzoh ball soup so my boyfriend and I stopped in here on the way to work for a pastrami sandwich and some soup. We should have known we were in for a bad experience when we walked in and the establishment was completely empty. We ordered soup, two different knishes, and a hot sandwich. The soup arrived before our waters and tasted like saltwater with noodles. Our sandwich that was advertised as hot was cold inside, the two knishes were both soggy and felt like they had been microwaved. We went to pay our bill and leave without making a scene but we both work in a restaurant and know what quality food is. When we quietly brought up our concerns to the waitress, she tried to argue with us and said that we should have asked for her to fry the knishes if we wanted them crispy and requested the sandwich be hot even though that was how it was described on the menu. after we payed full price for the food we did not touch we went across the street and got pizza. Needless to say we will not return.

I was in the area and decided I needed a couple of hotdogs and a sour pickle. I have not been to Regal in over 15 years and it has not changed at all. The hot dogs were good, As well as the pickle. Too me the place looks a little run down especially the outside. The service was fast and friendly and food was fine. The parking can be an issue as there is only one way to get into the parking lot and it is around the corner. I would go back again to try the pastrami as I remember it being great.

Three of us went in last Friday(July17,2015) I ordered specials and beans, my wife, a turkey sandwich and kasha knish. My order was okay although the specials were smallish as I remembered them from my earlier years. the turkey sandwich turned out be turkey roll that compressed gelatinized(correct me if I’m in error) cheap facsimile of real turkey sold in supermarkets but not in respectable restaurants. That put a pale on the whole meal. Never will we return.

Filthy outside and filthy inside with the delightful smell of something gone bad. I have no idea why the people in the area support this place when there are a 100 places to eat in the neighborhood. Is it because of the«signs» on the establishment? If that is the case find a Ben’s. Much cleaner and better food.

Good delicatessen food. We ordered several knishes, pastrami sandwiches, and other sides that were well made. The knishes were pretty good, but I’m not sure that it’s the best deli food I’ve had. Can’t speak for the matzoh ball soup. Would go again for the family-owned business, but you could probably find better food elsewhere.

Hubby brought home takeout, the turkey sandwich was good. The baked knish on the other hand was cold in the middle and tasted funky. It almost caused me to toss up my half of turkey sandwich.

Got a hankering for some Pastrami, a variety of knishes(storebought) but still yummy. Come visit this relic of Plainview. The service is not what keeps people coming here, but with a wide variety of jewish classics you will have a good lunch or dinner.

I work in the area so I had a few choices while looking for a pastrami on rye with matzoh ball soup. Naturally, I came on here to check which would be best and I am glad I did! While typing, I’m enjoying the pickles they threw in. Which, thanks, because I found it to be pricey. However, being a shiksa, I don’t have much experience with this territory. Sandwich was delish! Piled high on rye, with great mustard. Soup was average and gotta love the good olé’ Dr Brown’s. Give it try !

As one of the few truly kosher restaurants around in Long Island, it’s definitely a place that you would want to go to for nostalgia. The décor hasn’t changed for as long as I can remember. It feels like the exact same way it was years and years ago. As for the food, it’s decent. Not amazing and not terrible. Decent Kosher deli food. As for the price, it’s high. I understand that it’s very expensive to purchase kosher food, so I can’t fault them for the prices. I will say however that it’s not very sanitary in there it seems. Just an overall sense of uncleanliness. When you go and dine in, you’ll see what I’m talking about. I enjoy knowing that the Regal Deli is around… Just like it was years ago. Only thing now is it very badly needs huge facelift on many different levels.

You don’t come here for the service or a fancy meal… You come for the basics. Really basic and decent matzoh ball soup. Decent pastrami on rye. In my opinion it is not better than Ben’s but will suffice. I read all these amazing reviews but honestly does not deserve it. If you really really want amazing kosher go to the city or go to Bens.

Just had a hot corned beef sandwich on rye with cole slaw, pickles and Dr. Browns Cel-Ray soda. Mom had hers on club. Yum!

When I read these«expert Jewish Deli reviewers» I have to chuckle and then I see the guy is from Florida. He questions soda served in a can… which was probably Dr. Brown soda which is most always served in a can in Jewish Deli’s. The mngmt recently renovated the restaurant and it looks comfortable and clean., The only remnants of the old was the ever present Giant Plant that looks like it could eat you like in the Little Shop of Horrors and the waitresses! We have damn few Kosher Deli’s left in the area and Regal is one of the best., The sandwiches are served stuffed and accompanied by great cole slaw. The well done fries cooked to perfection and the Pea Soup a Thursday delight., So, call it what you will but dont knock the cooking!!!

The Regal Jewish Deli has been around since 1966. They just renovated the interior and it looks clean and brand new. The pastrami, corn beef, tongue knishes matzo balls everything is good at The Regal. So come down and check out this landmark deli for an old fashioned pastrami sandwich with cole slaw and Russian dressing on it.

I make sure to come here whenever I visit from Atlanta. The place is small, but it is never busy so in all my years I’ve never had bad service. For a kosher deli the prices are very fair. My usual is EVERYONE’S complementary coleslaw, the split pea soup(the favorite soup in the world), and the Specials hot dog — grilled with a side of beans and fries. Every single time I come here it just feels… perfect.
