Meet the Manager

Michael Z.

Manager

Michael founded FM SYSTEMS, INC. in 1984. Coming from a background in the Military Electronic Defense industry his experience in custom electronics and high reliability mission critical systems was a good foundation for bringing quality low voltage products and security systems to the general public.

Michael was one of the inventors of the Electronic Program Guide (EPC) that is incorporated in to almost every cable and satellite set top box in homes around the world. United States Patent 4 751 578 was awarded to Michael in 1988. Although the on screen program guide is commonplace now it was a unique idea in 1988.

Starting out in his early career in computer science and earning a degree in Electronic Data Processing his first career was programming in Assembly Language, COBAL, PL1 and BASIC. Moving on to engineering he was employed as an engineering technician at Johnson Control in Long Island City designing environmental controls for New York’s skyscrapers.
