Dr B Well Naturally

Despite its dim and dirty appearance, I wanted to give it a chance… but I’m done with this place. I blindly visited the deli counter a few times before I realized that they are not using organic products. The fruits in the smoothies are conventional. They also do not wash the blender between customers.

No customer service. Was looking for a particular tea and was ignored by an older blonde lady who was too busy talking on the phone about cats. There were no bags to put produce in and when I approached the register the lady continued her conversation unapologetically. I let her know I had a question and asked her for the type if tea I was looking for. She said there maybe some in the back she didn’t know but was out of stock of powder. Offered no assistance. Let’s see what coukd thus whiz gave dibw? Offer to take a number, call when you have it. I don’t know stroll back and see if you can locate the tea bags. Wouldn’t go back.

THE RUDEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WORK HERE. I will never go back! I was looking for something quick to grab for lunch before I headed back to work and this place made me so upset. I walked in to the deli counter, waited 5 minutes for the women behind the counter to be done talking to each other, finally was able to order and the woman who was helping told me she couldn’t alter a sandwich that was already pre-​made. I asked her if she could please make one fresh without cheese and she said she could not and «that ill just have to take the one that’s pre-​made» WHAT?! did you not hear me idiot? I am lactose intolerant. wheres the gray area here? Furious I decided to say screw the food and headed to the counter to pay for my drink. The old woman behind the counter was equally as rude, maybe even more. I politely asked her how her day was and she looked at me like I killed her cat. After not exchanging another word with this ancient creature, I began to walk out and I over hear her being elated to see the customer behind me. Ridiculous, I do not suggest going in this dump. There’s plenty other health markets that blow Dr. B out of the water. Hopefully this place closes down soon.

My father had told me about Dr B Well’s since I’ve moved back to the Longest Island; he was on the search for me once realizing there are not many health conscious places on long island compared to my previous home in Brooklyn. I came here after a 10k run in Hicksville a few months ago to check it out and grab something to eat.
First impression walking in; underwhelmed, especially because my father built this place in my mind to be a paradise for the health conscious. The store was dimly lit and looked very old and not very clean.
I browsed around, decided on a smoothie; I wasn’t feeling any of their choices so I asked the woman to make my own; she laughed at me and I don’t know why, but fine. I chose coconut (meat + water) banana and blueberry, oh wow– I think one of the best smoothies I’ve ever had, absolutely delicious and it was huge. Their cup choice was not eco-​friendly (average to-​go cup) which was somewhat off-​putting to me because in my opinion, if an establishment claims concern over their food quality (healthy + natural) they should also care about the source of their healthy + natural food (Mother Earth) and be aligned with their purpose of providing food and products to heal-​thy body (and the body of Mother Earth)
Additionally, Dr B Well’s would be more successful if it were more of a café; comfortable seating, reading material, warm environment, etc. They have a seating area but I would definitely not desire to sit there for more time than it take to make a smoothie.
They also have a wonderful selection of organic essential oils, I chose clove which is so invigorating. Overall, I think Long Island definitely needs more places like Dr. B Well’s. Being in the group of pioneering health food establishments on Long Island, it would be to their benefit if they created something that would inspire others to be like them and stimulated the growth of the health conscious community here.

Knowledgeable and friendly both in the supplements section and the food section. Pricey. Good clean food that feels good for you.

I recently discovered through a friend who asked about the meat, that their meat is conventional unless otherwise stated. The response he got also went something like: «it’s all the same either way.» Right…
Also, I refuse to use microwaves and unless I remember to mention that I’d rather have my food cold than microwaved they default to microwaving.
It’s the little things that matter sometimes. Granted, I have never found an artificial sweetener or artificial color or any especially harmful chemicals in anything they have but behind that deli counter is open season and my trust in them suffered a blow at the discovery of using conventional meat. I personally see that as no different than sprinkling aspartame or MSG on the food.
I get the feeling that Dr. B Well is a product of a set of insulated opinions and that the fidelity to that opinion engenders a sense of charlatanry.
Of course, I have my own biases too about what is healthy and what isn’t; but honesty is everything. Even Chipolte issues a disclaimer in plain sight alerting the patrons that their steak is conventionally farmed when they cannot source better options. That’s integrity.
I’m not going back there for anything other than the most boring of salads.

Who says you cant get healthy fast food. I love this place they make hot meals fresh every day. Everything is super healthy, they use organic foods as much as they can. Everything I have had from here has been absolutely delicious.
They have tons of protein/​fiber bars you can choose from and they also make their own desserts. If your looking for a healthy lunch spot this place is it. Get there early before all the good stuff is gone!!!

So I am a still a fan of this store, but geez, could they use a lesson or two in friendly customer service. No one ever looks happy or smiles in this place, makes for a downer experience.

I love the healthy drinks, the food is great, the desserts are wonderful! The nutritionist is very informative and helpful. However, the only bad thing I have to say, and this has nothing to do with the food, but this place needs so major updating, major! It looks old, dirty, outdated, counter tops are scuffed up and scratched. The oldest registers I’ve seen in 20 years.

And they do not care if I need help.
It happens over and over.
Please update the store.

Great place, helpful staff. I go there every now and then for a gluten free sandwich. Fair prices on their groceries as well. A nice little find!

Awesome place for those who love healthy, organic, allergen free foods. The deli counter has so many great choices. My daughter is allergic to wheat and dairy and she lives on their food. Choices do change daily but there are some favorites that are available all the time. The fresh raw salads are delicious. Love the turkey meatballs, shrimp, chicken salad, gluten free pastas and the sauteed veggies. The hot food comes out around 11:30 and is great to either eat in at their few tables in the back or take out for lunch. Get there early or it will all be gone! Oh and the gluten free cakes make my daughter so happy… they also take orders to make them for special occasions and we have taken advantage of that. They have a full juicing menu with a good variety. Whether you have allergies, are vegetarian, vegan, or just looking for healthy food options, this place is for you.
Besides the deli, there is a full health food market and vitamin shop. You can get great advice from the excellent staff about what to take for various health concerns (talk to John or Peter). The vitamin brands they carry are top notch. They are super accommodating and will get you whatever you need.
I am so grateful to have a place like this to come to!

Basically, I love this little place.
Pros:
*Organic produce at reasonable prices
*Pre-​made delicious foods plus non-​vegan options like wild salmon or chicken
*Fresh vegetable juices (I recommend the Green Goddess or the Holy Kale perhaps sans garlic, ginger instead)
*Specialty items, vitamins etc.
*Never had a problem parking in the parking lot
*Air-​conditioned, very clean, and well-​stocked
*Non-​pretentious and friendly
*Cooking/​food-​prep classes sometimes available (request specifics)
*Peter! He’s very knowledgeable, and friendly. Sometimes he helps out behind the counter.
Cons (there’s only one):
*Sometimes service behind the counter is slow and disorganized particularly at lunch time. Nonetheless, I can’t deduct any stars from this amazing health mecca for that.
There are fresh vegetables, fruit, even chilled, young/​green coconuts. When in season, you can find blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, all organic, a rarity worth the price in taste alone.
In the age of Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds everywhere, every time you shop here, you support one of the few, healthy options left. You support life instead of disease, instead of the frequently corrupt/​government-​subsidized corporations, siphoning in profits while pumping out the most nutrient-​devoid, cancer-​promoting garbage.
Check out the photos I uploaded. One demonstrates the wholesome ingredients in some of Dr. B Well’s typical dressings. Everything is labeled. This is very unusual. Most delis, for instance don’t disclose that information.

Fresh, healthy and delicious. Great made-​to-​order organic vegetable juices are a welcome treat. Nice pumpkin bread, made with spelt flour… Luna Burgers are great, but soy based… lots of good kale and quinoa salads.
By far the best take-​out lunch, that I have found, within a 10 mile radius!

Cannot say enough about Dr. B Well Naturally. Just got some Delish Curry Sweet potato & leek soup. Love it here

Great selection! Plenty of pre-​made sandwiches, wraps, and salads to choose from if you’re on the go. VERY vegetarian-​friendly. I’m no longer a vegetarian but I still prefer soy turkey over the real thing so I tend to get their sandwiches made with that. Huge supply of vitamins, as well.
Prices can be a little high but you get what you paid for.

Great selection of all kinds. If you’re looking for raw foods or just health food store stuff and you’re in LI — check it out.

This place is the total best. I used to work around here so I’d come often for lunch. The groceries are a bit pricey, of course — on a par with the usual in organic/​specialty markets. But luckily, even though the food is top quality organic and it’s delicious, it’s very possible to get items from their deli for lunch and not spend a lot. I’m a fan of their turkey burgers, personally. So good. They always have healthy, fresh veggie dishes that are extremely creative and without fail extremely delicious. Great prepared raw food selection, too. I love this place and I’m so sad I no longer have a reason to come all the way out here to go!
I’m gluten-​intolerant, and their desserts are themost delicious things ever. They have a ton of gluten-​free or wheat-​free (spelt flour) goodies daily.
Oh, and they have all kinds of delicious smoothies and shakes. Go now!
