This is a great way to get east/west around Plainfield! Lots of shade for the majority of the stretch but if you’re looking for sun you can catch some rays towards the east end. There are a few road crossings that can be tricky during rush hour(looking at you, Dan Jones) but they’re well-marked and motorists are generally pretty courteous. Trail never seems too crowded though you see plenty of people out and about on foot or bike alike. Occasional rollerskaters. The convenience factor is what I love best; it’s very easy to take this from southwest Plainfield via the Hummel path up to any businesses along Dan Jones(Kroger, El Meson, etc), or continuing all the way East to Perry. You can hit Metropolis easily off of this path as well. I absolutely Plainfield for its trail system and this long stretch really connects it all together.

Plainfield has excellent trail systems. I train for marathons and running the same small trail over and over quickly burns me out, but this trail has several forks and joins other trails to make a very long path. I think I’ve ran about 15 miles before turning back to the car. What I also love is that although the cyclists are out, you don’t get mowed down like on the Monon. The trails are also very well kept, clean, and safe.
