Plainfield Public Library District

I love my local library! There’s wide selections of YA and DVD’s and music! They are also up to date with the technology, you can add your library card on your passbook and scan your phone when you check out. The ladies at the library also informed me about an app on my phone where I can download and borrow books and audiobooks and place my books on hold. I love this place!

When I first moved out on my own, I got a library card and rented a lot of DVDs here since I couldn’t afford cable (or the Internet). I probably visited once every 1 – 2 weeks in the fall of 2009, and I was always happy to have recent, popular titles available to me.
Compared to my hometown library, Plainfield Library is a palace. Everything I’ve wanted here was available, and if it wasn’t I was able to place items on hold. For really popular items there are usually a few copies available at this library. And if you’re still out of luck, other locations may have them.
My most recent trip was to pick up a few touristy books on the topic of Chicago. Since I’ve planned a staycation for myself and my husband, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. And I was curious about what Fodor’s would have to say about our great city. I left with an armful of four books and a documentary on a set of four DVDs.
I remember going to the library back in Hanover Park and Bartlett (suburbs equal to size, if not larger than Plainfield) and always running into issues with items being checked out or on hold after hold, after hold.
I didn’t use the library as much as I should have going into high school and college, but Plainfield library seems just as good as the library at Columbia College Chicago when it comes to size and available materials.
This library also has a pretty big selection of DVDs on blue ray with a generous limit of 3 per person.

Love going here to relax, read and expose my daughter to some of the «barbaric» ways to entertain yourself — LOL.

Love, love, love this library. The staff is awesome and I can order and reserve anything I want online. Their music and dvd collection is great.

Great location for a library and great staff! I enrolled my daughter into a toddler class and she really enjoyed it. Actually, it opened up her personality and she is no longer too shy to «talk» with people and play with other kids.
Even though her classes are over for the time being, I still manage to get her out here once per week to play in the toddler area, check out books and just to look around.
