History

Established in 2010.

I have always liked picking locks and taking things apart. In 2007 I learned how to pick house doors. Over the next couple of years; any time one of my neighbors was locked out of their house I would be called to let them in. I decided I really enjoyed this hobby and should try to learn more about it. I took a couple of weeks off work and took an actual class to learn the trade.

In the class I learned that locksmith entailed much more than just picking locks: Re-​keying locks, security evaluations and much more was involved.

I still wasn’t sure it was going to be a career for me, but was interested in learning more than I had learned in the class. I apprenticed on the weekends at a local lock shop and immersed myself in the business.

Eventually the decision of whether this should be a career or not was answered for me. My job was off shored and I was laid off in 2010. I quickly got my locksmith license and opened my shop shortly thereafter and have been loving every minute.

I graduated college with a Math major and a Chemistry minor and went into the corporate world, working for companies such as AT&T, Baxter Healthcare and IBM in IT and management. I had always wanted to own my own business, but had responsibilities, like a wife and kids.

In the 2000’s I was working as a manager at a multinational and could see the writing on the wall that they were trying to off shore every US worker they could. My wife made a conscious decision to begin saving very aggressively for the inevitable time when I would get my notice.

When it finally happened in 2010 we were prepared and I could finally fulfill my dream of owning my own business. We developed our plan in July and had opened our doors to public by November.
