History

Established in 1998.

Crager-Bartels started when two unique minded individuals met right out of college. Derek and Craig purchased several investment properties separately, then joined forces to go on a buying spree. We then obtained our real estate license and opened up the Crager-Bartels Real Estate office on main street in Plainfield.

While others are losing customers/clients in this down economy, we have tripled in size over the past 2 years, with agents selling more homes then ever.

With Craig’s computer science background from Purdue Univeristy, and Derek Crager’s serial entrepreneur skills, the Crager-Bartels team is the new «web 2.0» based real estate company for the 21^st century.

I have been renting for 2 years from Crager Bartels. I’ve also owned my own homes for almost 10 years so I know what its like to be on both sides of the fence.
They are extremely unprofessional and rude. They do not quickly service properties. I was without air conditioning from Memorial Day to Labor Day because they just kept fixing the fuse instead of the unit. I finally said to them THIS IS A NEW HOME, surely its still under warranty and got a new unit.
My troubles began when I moved in over President’s Day weekend. I pull in on Sunday morning and the code to get into the property doesn’t work. I call the emergency numbers and nothing. Thank goodness my movers broke down and didn’t arrive as planned on Sunday because we could not gain entry. When someone called us back on Monday (Amanda) she said she gave me the code for Saturday because that’s when folks move in. Ugh.
When I get into the house there is a dead rat in the basement, and mouse droppings everywhere. I call and they tell me pest control is my problem. I spent night 1 in a hotel due to no access, and then 200 for pest control and I just moved in. There was trash from the previous tenants in the garage and I was told to pull it out to the curb. NOT! You probably billed them for trash removal so you come get it.
They will nickle and dime you to death. They inadvertantly sent me the expense sheet for the owners instead of my payment rental. What they charge you to come out and change filters, fix toilets is ridiculous!
And, whatever you dont make a credit card payment — they want 5%.
I only stay because my kids have moved 3 times in the last 2 years including a new state, and I love the school district and the home.
The property owners finally wised up and moved to another company! Thank goodness!
Don’t rent from them, don’t let them lease your property it is a lose-lose proposition.

I am a home owner in Indiana that resides in another state. The facts: I have been with Crager Bartels for almost 2 years now and they are completely unprofessional and inefficient. Multiple months my rent was deposited past the agreed upon date when my tenants paid on time. They do not return phone calls, emails messages or any other correspondence for that matter. My contract was sold to another agency and I was informed the date I was to be paid February monies. I still have not received February money while the new agency has already deposited March.
In my opinion: Crager Bartels is completely unprofessional and does not know how to communicate properly to a customer. The only reason why I have stayed this long is because I have tenants that pay on time and I live out of state. They are not worth the heartache or the financial impact.
DO NOT SIGN ANY TYPE OF CONTRACT WITH CRAGER BARTELS!
