I just moved to placerville from the bay area and It’s been hard to find good Mexican food up here. This is my spot from here on out, they know how to make a good buritto. I think the chicken is way better than the steak so stick to chicken. Get the chicken macho buritto, and you’ll be happy! The resturant is also very clean and we’ll served! The only down side is I feel it’s super expensive for what your getting. $ 9 – 14 for a buritto.

Really good Mexican food. Some of my favorite places in Placerville have some competition. I get the Carne Asada which is diced in small pieces and very flavorful. The chicken tortilla soup is great, but note that it’s a little on the spicy side for most.

We’ve been driving by this place for awhile now and we’ve been curious but the timing was never right. Today my husband stopped by on his way home and picked up some burritos. I had the vegetarian burrito. Wow! A huge flour tortilla stuffed with very generous amounts of fresh cooked veggies– squash, onions, peppers, corn, mushrooms along with black beans and rice. This giant was covered lightly with mild green sauce and a small amount of cheese. The fact that they didn’t bury it in a mountain of cheese allowed the flavors of the vegetables to really shine! The only reason I’m not giving them 4 stars is because I haven’t been there. I suspect I may change this after a visit. Oh, and my husband had the chile verde burrito… he said it was very good!

We’re happy to have found this place! There aren’t very many Mexican restaurants in Placerville with truly good food. The chicken mole here is killer, we loved the chile verde and the taco salads, and the beer is icy cold. Service can be a little slow – there was only one server on all four visits. But she was friendly, never idle, and the food was worth a little bit of a wait.

Wonderful food. Order the carnitas tacos. They are off the chart! Street tacos like nowhere else in NorCal. Everything we have ordered has been good to excellent and very reasonable in price. Give it a try. Don’t think you will be disappointed.

Service was terrible. Felt completely ignored. The staff just hid out in the back until someone needed something. Food was overpriced and had absolutely no flavor. No way I would ever recommend this place to anyone. We had the chili relleno plate and a two item combo(with a chicken burrito and cheese enchilada). Everything tasted like it was just thrown together with canned ingredients.

Terrible service. Not worth it for standard Mexican food. Wait staff was offended when we asked too many question apparently. There are plenty of other better places to go in this area.

After repeatedly seeing the sign out by the street advertising cheap tacos, we finally decided to try it. Not much to look at from outside, and we almost changed our minds. Glad we didnt. Inside was spotless and very clean. Complimentary chips were fresh and warm. Debra ordered the chicken tostada and I ordered the camarones de mar. The tostada was good enough. After all, what can you do to spoil a tostada? Same with the rice and beans. We weren’t looking for miracles here. The camarones de mar was very good. The breaded shrimp were a bit overcooked for my taste but, wow, we both agreed that the Cancun-style white enchilada stuffed with shrimp and fish was simply outstanding and the best part of the meal! It was the sauce — kind of a pureed, creamed — corn that was unique and delicious. Like many Mexican restaurants, this one seems to be a family affair, but well above average. As a relatively new restaurant, they might still be getting their act together a bit server-wise. But the enchiladas were so good, we’ll definitely be back to sample some of the other specialties. Recommended.

Ive been here twice, and after the second I will never be back. I believe I got food poisoning, cant say for sure but I was sick for days after eating the $ 6 burrito special they advertise with steak. I probably shoudnt of eaten it as the meat had a funny taste. like refrigerator and stale. But Im one of those who kinda toughs it out and I was with other people for lunch and didnt want to complain. The other time I ordered a chicken enchilada and that was pretty tasteless. Im really not sure if I just ordered the wrong things both times, but after being sick I just cant go back.

Great place! First time eating there yesterday. The décor is nice, so clean and fresh looking. We loved the food! It was so good. I had the chili verde plate. Rice and beans very good and the verde was amazing. I’m used to the pork being in larger chunks but this was a little smaller and quite delicious. The sauce. Really, really good! My partner had the special of the day, chicken burrito. He loved it. It was very large, on a plate and covered with another wonderful sauce. It wasn’t exactly like enchilada sauce, but it was perfect with the chicken. Also, he was happy they had amber Dos Equis beer. Actually, quite a few choices on that. Service was great from a nice young woman who was very efficient. The guy cooking looked like he loved what he was doing. All around a good place for very good food. Im going back and telling my friends.

Disappointing, especially given some of the good reviews here. Ordered the chicken taco salad with sour cream and guac. While waiting, salsa and chips came. Salsa was dreadful, and most of it seemed from a can; with only bits and chards of fresh tomato or onion, spiced with dry ingredients instead of fresh peppers, and not a hint of cilantro. Salad arrived sans sour cream and guac. I reminded the server, and she then brought a small side bowl that contained both. The guacamole tasted mostly of lime juice. The salad itself was mostly flavorless, with dry, under seasoned chicken, beans, and rice. The lettuce was mostly dark, limp green leaf; not the cool, crisp, shredded iceberg I have come to associate with Mexican food. The grated cheese seemed of the packaged type, with an all too consistent look, perfectly round, shiny and smooth, and it was cheddar instead a a mild Mexican queso. In fact, the whole salad was so tasteless, it was overpowered by the small amount of cheddar that was there. I am not used to describing a taco salad as dry and tasteless, but this one was. The presentation and service were good, but not having the ‘basics’ even close to right gives me no reason to return. Mexican food is all about the basics, exploding with flavor. None of that here.

this is definitely a tasty little restaurant, but it is mainly a seafood-geared Mexican place. As a couple of vegetarians eating out we have some interesting experiences in P-ville, some places aren’t vegetarian/vegan friendly at all; this place had some options for veggies and the staff seemed pretty flexible and nice about answering questions– probably could have modified some other menu items as well.

I don’t feel this place rates the 4 star rating it has on Unilocal! The restaurant is neat and clean, with minimal decorations. The staff is nice and reasonably efficient, but the food is just average. I had the combo with a chile verde taco and an enchilada. I would have preferred a string beef taco, but surprisingly that is string beef if not available. How unusual is that? The enchilada had too much cheese covering it. It was impossible to taste or see the red sauce on the enchilada. Really overdone on the cheese! The high point were the chips brought to the table. They were served warm which was a nice touch, but the salsa served with them was mild and needed a lot more zip. Overall this was an average meal and not one that I would probably want to repeat. I think that the food at El Carnival in town is much better.

The food was good I have to say. However the service was so bad that I will naver be back. We had to seet our selves after talking to the waitress and get our one menus. We watched several tables get there drinks and have there orders taken before the people at the table behind us mentioned to the waitress that we might want to order. I even commented that I thought we were invisible. Bottem line it took an hour to get a basic lunch we had to flag down someone and ask for everything, although the food was good the total lack of service completely ruined the experience.

Delicious dinner! Order the Carnitas Our Way! Fresh ingredients and great taste! Friendly management and cheerful cooks. If you don’t get the carnitas then go for the tortilla soup. So glad to have a quality restaurant in town — a new favorite.

I tried plaza Jalisco with my boyfriend and cousin and although the food is a bit pricey it’s really good and they give decent portions. Our service was exceptional and friendly, thank you Edgar. This is the second time I’ve been there. I didn’t really care for the salsa but the other 2 in my party really liked it. I had their taco salad with carne asada and it was delicious! They put the right amount of meat, lettuce, rice and beans! My boyfriend tried the burrito Mexicano, it was humongous and he loved it. We also got a bowl of their chicken tortilla soup, it had a good unique taste, but could’ve used more chicken. My cousin tried a quesadilla and also really enjoyed that, we all ended up needing boxes by the end of our meal. This restaurant is a good add and I will be back.

There are so many Mexican restaurants to choose from in the greater Placerville area — it’s a blessing really! The menu here is extensive and the prices are reasonable. The décor is nice, I enjoyed our meal, and the service was excellent. They don’t have a bar — like Durango’s down the street — which could be a good thing. Bottom line — I’ll be back!

This place is small and adorable, but don’t let that sway your mind! The kitchen is open and clean, and run by very friendly chefs cooking with a passion. Our food was cooked immediately even with a full house of customers. We were attended to attentively and the flavors were authentic and out of this world. Dinner and a movie across the street next time! We will be back for sure.

Looking for a quick late afternoon snack, Gigi and I decided to try Plaza Jalisco. It is the newest restaurant in Placerville California, although we read there are two others in nearby towns. We are giving it 5 Stars, but you can leave your tuxedos at home! Located at 384 Placerville Dr., Suite 8(right across from the movie theaters, in the same building as Sears), it is a bright and cheerful restaurant. .. and spotlessly clean! They serve excellent, authentic Mexican food. .. and our server was Ashlie, a bright, sharp young lady! So Gigi and I now have yet another little Placerville hideaway in which to enjoy excellent food and service! Give ‘em a try! All the best! Ben & Gigi Gay WWW.BFG3.COM
