History

Established in 2005.

We opened our first business, Max Muscle of La Mirada back in 2001. We were a full service nutrition store that also offered tanning services. Our tanning got so big that we moved it out and opened a full service tanning salon in same center.

In 2005, we created a modern chic atmosphere named Sun Studio Tanning in Placentia, CA. Taking its name from the European tag for tanning salon, Sun Studio took conventional tanning to the next level. Our knowledgeable certified staff thrives on customer service and can answer all your tanning inquiries.

Our love for nutrition, health and fitness has made us strive to wipe away the negative assumptions of tanning. The UVB light emitted by tanning lamps helps stimulate vitamin D production in the skin which elevates vitamin D levels in blood just like the sun. It is a natural, essential means of taking in the vitamin. Tanning in moderation can be so beneficial!

Seriously such a nice place. I used to tan @ At the Beach Tanning and this place (though the beds are a little more generic) is such a beautiful break from all the corporate crap of chain tanning salons. They never try to push product on you, and their tanning packets are fairly priced with equally fair terms. The ladies who work here are also extremely nice. Tons of great perks as well like Mystic Monday’s and upgrade Wednesday’s. Good job, Sun Studio!

Try this place for the first time a week ago and did a standup bed in combination with the mystic tan and I am an avid Tanner and used to run my own salon so I’m very knowledgeable about tanning and that combination was wonderful and the color looked amazing also the girls working there are very sweet and knowledgeable of their product. :) i’m going back today for another double dip yay!

Okay, so I work outside a lot. At times, I have this «farmers tan», which I need a bit help with blending.
Been about three years since I first came here. I don’t come here that often. I have in the past bought package deals for several sessions ahead of time.
Today, I come in to use one of my 5 remaining sessions (worth about $ 100.00). But I’m told it has expired, since I haven’t been here for over a year. Katy at the counter tells me that their pre paid sessions expire if not used in a year and there’s nothing I can do about it. I look around to see any signs indicating and confirming what she is telling me. There’s none to be seen. It’s not printed on the receipt. There’s no membership card they issue when you purchase the sessions ahead of time. Katy tell me that when customer purchases the sessions ahead of time, the person working at the counter should tell me about the «expiration» claus. Mind you, I was never told that. Is it because I’m a guy and I don’t ask thrash specific question? Is it wrong for me to think that as long as business is open, the pre paid sessions should be valid?
I say, it’s bull s#*!. In California, if you purchase a gift card, law is written so that, it should not expire. Especially if there’s no written expression or signed contract.
There are about three tanning places within a minor radius. As for this place, I would not recommend it. Such cunning way to do business.

I came here after religiously going to a another tanning salon and I honestly say I am so happy I changed to coming here! ALL of the staff is so nice and knowledgeable about the beds, lotions, and time durations. Definitely would recommend Sun Studio to everyone!

Clean beds but expensive for signing up for monthly membership… I am from San Diego and I paid 20.00 a month verse now 50.00 a month. Plus, I had to pay 30.00 start up fee! $ 90.00 to start is to much in my opinion. I think they should reduce the prices. For now this will do until I find a more adorable place. The customer service for me is a hit and miss. I told one the girls that my tan lotion was stole out of my car along with my leather jacket and she replied well must have been a chick or a SMART boyfriend??? Lol instead of sorry to hear that…

It is always extremely clean and very organized.
All of the girls are so sweet and are such a pleasure to deal with!:) it’s so nice to have a friendly hello EVERY time I walk in!
Jacee the manager is very professional and is great to deal with every time I go… She always is so pleasant!!!
I never have to wait when I get there and even at busy times they always accommodate quickly!
The beds are high quality and work amazing. It’s super nice too because they change the Bulbs frequently so you get an effective tan unlike a lot of other salons.

I work close by and I’ve been coming here for about two weeks now to tan. I usually have no wait what so ever to tan, the tanning beds are super clean, and the girls at the front are very nice! I was only planning on tanning until the end of summer, but I might keep my package longer! Would highly recommend to anyone!

I would recommend Sun Studio in Placentia, Ca to everyone. The staff are very friendly and informative. The tanning beds are very clean and get sanitized twice. I was very satisfied with my tanning results. I’m ready for shorts and dresses now.

I know I’m the duchess and all so how could I not give this place a 5 star review? It’s just so darn expensive for the average person’s budget! The great thing is they offer discounts if you renew your package before it expires, Packet Saturdays (where you can get a free tan if you buy a packet of lotion, cheapest runs $ 8) and Discount Sundays for all level beds, in addition to the coupons they always have running and deals for signing up for longer periods of time rather than buying session by session.
It’s super clean, EVERYONE that works here is awesome, I never have a problem parking, they’ll store your lotion for you and have three levels of beds plus that new fancy Red Light bed. Do it! You won’t regret it and you can stop being jealous of all your Southern American friends ;)
Favorite place to tan in OC by far; I just wish I could afford to go year round.
