Jody Angevine Masonry

I’m in the process of redoing my landscape from water gobbling grass and trees to more drought friendly flora. I looked around our neighborhoods here in La Mirada for some ideas and found one neighbor who had the most awesome planters around his house and down his driveway. He also had really great flagstone entryway steps and front porch. So, I inquired as to who did this great work and lo and behold, it was Jody Angevine. Since this neighbor had his work done by Jody several years before, he mainly remembered that Jody was professional, prompt and worked clean.
I contacted Jody and he came out within a couple of days. We went through my project and I got some of his thoughts and we formulated the project right then and there. I had a quote from Shelley within a couple of days, with the caveat that I would source my own decorative materials (flagstone, ledgestone, capstone).
Jody gave me an ETA on when he could start after I’d signed the contract and told me when to have the materials delivered. Shockingly, LOL, Jody showed up the first day at 5:45 AM and got right to work and everyday that he arrive, he was there at the crack of dawn rarin’ to go! But what a delight he has been to work with! And he had his son, who was on vacation, working with him on this project. Any minor changes were met with such positive response,” oh sure, whatever you want me to do, no problem!” Who does that anymore?
Jody handled the concrete guys and the other prep work guys like a contractor pro. I just sat back and watched the masterpiece being built. Well, now I have my beautiful planters, walkways and extended front porch with natural flagstone done, so time to finish the rest of my landscaping. And then I will post pictures of everything as it comes together. I’m already the envy of my neighborhood.
In the meantime, Jody is going to come back to reface the fireplace in my family room, do some brick wall repairs in the back and side yards and I’m sure I’ll find some other ways to work Jody’s magic into my future home projects.

Wow, Jody helped tremendously with our front house makeover!
He was great (and quite early). Price good too! Combination of work, timing, attitude. doesn’t get much better! If you need to wait, do it. there is a reason he may be busy! Highly recommended!

Jody installed short (36″ high about 12″ square) masonry columns with terra cotta caps in our front yard, as part of a fence replacement/​upgrade (wrought iron completed the fence between the columns – installed by another tradesperson). As part of the project, Jody also demo’ed and disposed of the old fence. Jody also stuccoed the columns and came back to put in a brick edging strip to keep the soil from spilling out onto the sidewalk.
The work was great and we have received many compliments on the new fence from our neighbors.
What I especially appreciated, though, was the prompt and ongoing communication via email. I sent Jody (actually, via his wife Shelley, who also is part of the business) the measurements, a picture of the current fence and I think a picture and description of what I had in mind. Within one or two business days I had a bid.
They were also flexible around our scheduling, which was helpful since this is short-​term rental property.

What an amazing company. Can’t say enough good things about the professionalism, the job that was done and the manner in which everything i.e.: payment, what was to be expected, contact, and answering questions right away was handled. Our damaged leaning wall was fixed right away and done so well that the new buyers emailed how happy they were with the job. We Called several other companies researching which would be the best fit and this company run by Jody and Shirley was definitely the best. We really appreciate what you guys do! Keep up the great work.

Jody did my backyard. He did an excellent job. He was easy to work with. The quote is fair. My wife is pleased.

Another masonry expert referred my husband to Jody. We needed the mortar repaired along the bottom of an exterior brick wall so it would match the rest of the wall when painted. This was a very small project– just mortar around 21 bricks that had been buried under dirt until recently. My husband emailed Jody some photos & a few sentences saying what he wanted; first thing the next morning (Friday) his wife Shelley emailed his quote; We accepted & we scheduled the work for Sunday at 7 am. He arrived early & after discussing the details, he got right to work. He finished in an hour & did an excellent job. He was friendly & professional. We would definitely recommend him.

Jody recently did our hearth for our fireplace. He did a great job and it was nice to have someone professional and honest for a change. I highly recommend.

We’ve had nothing but excellent work from Jody! He installed our ledgestone columns and barbecue surrounds in our new patio and it came out fabulous! Jody is reliable and works very hard. It was great to have someone who is professional and a delight to work with! You will not be sorry!!!

I emailed photos of some blocks that had come loose on my 25-​year-​old wall. By the next morning I had a bid. Jody was a delight to work with — old school ethics of showing up on time, respectful, and honest — not to mention hard working. He had to squeeze in between my cypress trees and my neighbor’s RV and wood pile, yet managed to do a stellar job — and a few small mortar jobs at no charge! Who does that anymore? Reasonable price.

It was a referral from another masonry expert on how we met Jody and we were impressed! First he didn’t even have to come out to the site, I sent him a few photos, he provided a very good quote, what I needed to have ready and bam he was scheduled, there and then done. It can’t get better than that. New porch was totally transformed the first day and he said just wait until he grouts it and he was certainly right. It is absolutely beautiful and the perfect look we were hoping for. He was friendly, no mess and even put the new landscape back in place before I got home. Yep we are wowed.

Jody called me back quickly, and gave me a fair quote on a small project in my back yard. He arrived when he said he would, and completed the job in about 1.5 hours. I am glad I found a reliable mason for all of my future projects.

Jody came to my house to give me a quote on a wall that needed repair from termite infested wood to brick. Jody showed up on time, was very personal, and clean. The wall turned out beautiful. I highly recommended him to my friends and family.

Thanks for coming out so quickly. I had Jody out for stucco repair around the house. He showed up on time, we went over what needed to be repaired and he got right to work and was quick and efficient. Will definitely use in the future and would recommend to others :)

I had initially hired Jody to put stone on my new, updated mantle. I really appreciated how promptly he and his wife responded to any inquiries I had. Unfortunately, after I sent him photos of the stone we purchased, he brought to my attention that the stone was more tile-​set and suggested that I find a tile-​person instead. He even went as far as recommending a tile-​guy! I know I didn’t utilize Jody for the actual job, but the fact that he was courteous enough to let me know immediately that he felt uncomfortable doing something (I think he called me as soon as he saw the photos) is mark of a great business. Also, referring me to someone else was something that was outside the scope of his job and wasn’t necessary but he was kind enough to do it.
From his rave Unilocal reviews and from the little bit of communication I’ve had with him, I would definitely hire him for future jobs. We’re first-​time home owners that recently purchased our first house and therefore currently broke, but we already have future projects that we’d love to work with Jody on! Keep up the great service, Jody & Shelley!

I called Jody to remove pavers and extend and pave my back patio earlier this year and I couldn’t be more satisfied. Jody was on time and was able to complete the job in 2 days. His prices are reasonable and there were no surprises. I wanted to make sure that the patio drained away from the house even though my yard is slightly sloped towards the house and Jody made sure that happened for me. A properly paved patio, with no pooling around the house foundation. Exactly what I wanted, it looks great!

My block wall had sustained damage from the earthquake. I called Jody
midweek and he came out next day. He gave me an estimate which I
felt was very reasonable! Jody is just a down to earth, nice guy! He came
out that very weekend and did the repair! I would highly recommend him.

I hired Jody to repave my dog run and fix a cement corner by the driveway. He was booked for a month solid so I waited and since I was a bit out of his area, I forwarded him lots of pics of exactly the job I wanted done. Even though, I was assured the job was understood there was still a bit of a miscommunication concerning the landing and the stairs of the dog run. However, Jody and his employee did a great job on both projects and finished them in two days. The second day, I had to work and when I came home I did notice that there was a crack running all along the stairs and the more it dried the worse it looked. I wondered why they didn’t just put a border there (like the ones you see on the sidewalk). I called Jody and they came back, put in the border and it looks awesome.
One thing to note, if you work with Jody prepare to wake up EARLY. He was at my house the first day at 6:30 and I came out the second day (on my way to work) before 5:30 and he was already there! My wife said he called her around 4 – 5 times the second day right at 6:30 to come out and let him in to work. Um, ok so he likes to work early — that’s cool but just be aware. I sent Jody a text to find out when his employee would be here to fix the crack but he told me he ‘doesn’t do texting’ so don’t do that. Just call him.
Only 4 stars because the stairs should of been done the way they are now the first time around, imo. Would I use Jody again, absolutely! I’d just stick around for the entire job and you should also.

Super Small job and Jodi showed up early and «nailed it!»
Additionally, Jodi went far beyond and even fixed some small concrete items (gaps in my concrete block).
… Did I mention his pricing was excellent?!
I’ve got Jodi on my speed dial … he’s a necessity for DIY’ers like me.

Jody was great from the beginning. He came out, measured for a retaining wall in our backyard and told me he would email me an estimate the following day (including disposal of our old railroad ties). The next morning I received the email estimate and could simply not turn down his offer.
He arrived exactly at the time he said he would and got straight to work. He had some help removing the railroad ties, but Jody does all the masonry work. He was great about letting me know what he was going to do each day and what the timetable for his work was. He was spot on every time. We were so impressed with his work that we had him come back and put decorative stone on our new retaining wall, which we absolutely love.
Jody is very personable and does great work at reasonable prices. We would not hesitate to hire him again for another job, and will probably do so as we redo our backyard. We cannot rate Jody highly enough.
