A Thorough Guy

We hired Mike to inspect a house that we are thinking of buying. He came highly recommended, and boy, did he not disappoint. The entire inspection took nearly 5 hours. He went through every nook and cranny of the place, walking on the roof, going through the attic and spelunking through the crawl space. His report with detailed pictures was amazing. The way he organized and prioritized what he found superb, not to mention his high level of professionalism. Heck! I learned so much from him. He provided great resources and really explained the issues in a way that was easy to comprehend. I had no problem explaining to my wife what the areas of need were.
Overall, I would 100% recommend Mike, A Thorough Guy, because no joke, he is extremely thorough and completely lives up to the name.

I have used Mike since his first inspection in 2001. I am a Realtor and Strongly recommend him to all my buyer clients and other agents if they want to know everything. I know many Agents, including me, that use him for their personal and family deals. Listing agents hate this guy because they cannot hide anything. What makes him special is 1. He only cares about his clients, the buyers. He does not care what the seller, or the agents, even me, have to say. 2. He finds everything. He never gives an opinion, only the facts, his clients decide what is major and what is not. 3. There is no licensing for ’”Home Inspectors” in California. You can say you are a home inspector and you are. He is a Certified Residential Building Inspector,(as in the city guy that verify your permit.) Certified Residential Plumbing Inspector. Certified Tile Roofing Inspector. Certified Deck and Railing Inspector. And has a degree in engineering from CSUF. He knows his stuff. You don’t hire Mike for his personality, although he is a nice guy, but for his knowledge and expertise.

Mike was just as his company name promises. Thorough and professional, on time and friendly. His comprehensive report left no stone unturned and no lingering questions for us as home owners. I would use A Thorough Guy over and over.

Vincent and I were in the process of purchasing a home. As first time home buyers we didn’t know who to hire for a home inspection. Luckily, my uncle had hired A Thorough Guy Inc. when they purchased their house. After making multiple calls to different companies, Mike was able to provide us information in regards to his services that we knew immediately he was the right guy for the job.
The day prior to the inspection, Mike had contacted us to confirm we were still on for the home inspection. We had arranged for an early Sunday morning inspection and Mike was there before us! He was very direct, honest, and friendly in regards to his services. My agent was pretty impress with the fact he had snacks and entertainment for us to keep us busy during his inspection.
Mike provided us with a very thorough inspection, hence the name «A Thorough Guy Inc.». Mike has a background in engineering, thus he was able to give us the smallest details that I would never realize to point out. Mike spent a good three plus hours doing the inspection for us. After his inspection he had sat us down and went over the details with explanations and pictures he had taken. Mike then also provided us with a personal handbook with sectional dividers with information in regards to home inspection. The personal handbook was great as we were able to print out the report he did and put into the divider he had provided. Mike was able to provide us with the report of the inspection a few hours after we met. He was so impressive that our seller had to get his information to complete their home inspection as well!
Overall, Vincent and I were very please with the service A Thorough Guy Inc. has to offer. Very professional, quick response, and extremely thorough in every aspect of the job. It was well worth the money spent! If ever we need another home inspection or consult, I would definitely reach out to Mike again! Highly recommended!

Mike is the right guy!!! Me and my husband, we’re first time buyer and we’re glad that we hired Mike to do the first home inspection for us. He took time to inspect every spot that he has access to, his report is super thorough with pictures and detail explanations, also he went over the report with us professionally at the end. Very thorough, professional, and helpful. I can’t express how happy I am with Mike’s work. Mike catches everything. I had an offer accepted on a home. My daughter and son in law made an offer on a house. We contacted Mike to conduct a thorough home inspection. His inspection was very extensive and covered everything in the house from the leaky faucets to the grading of the pathways adjacent to the house. His Inspection was so thorough he found a small crack in the stain glass insert in the front door, something that was barely visible. After several hours Mike showed us all the photos he had taken on his tablets and detailed each one. When he would mention something we didn’t understand he would take the time to make sure we understood before moving on. Ultimately the deal fell through and my daughter and son in law walked away from a money pit. I would only use «a thorough guy inc» for future purchase. And when my daughter and son in law find another house they will have learned from the experience with Mike and will once again call him for an inspection. You won’t regret using «a thorough guy» for your home inspection needs.

I just want to say that a Thorough Guy is exactly as he says, very thorough. This is what I want from a home inspection! Not only is he detail oriented and seems to really try hard to fully inspect, he’s a nice guy too! He brought snacks for us, and drinks, and even entertainment for the kids. You can tell that he takes pride in what he does and also tries very hard to do a good job. He was able to point out not only things that were important to the structure of the house, but also smaller things that were helpful for general home improvement. He takes phone calls later, and makes an effort to inform you to the best of his knowledge. He also took the time to explain to us the limitations of a home inspection and what further steps we could take to be more thorough ourselves. The report he provides is impressive with photos and details and a useful tool for our future home care. Very honest and upfront with his pricing as well.

Like the name says, very thorough home inspection. You could tell he was not in a rush to complete and not only noted deficiencies but also suggested improvements that are not required but may be considered for safety or to be in compliance with current standards. Will use him again in the future.

I used Mike back in 2010 based off of his Angie’s list reviews (though I am no longer using Angies list). I just happened to come across his Unilocal reviews and wanted to comment because he is very underrated. Mike is a 5 star inspector. I am a researcher and extremely detail oriented. I was very satisfied with how methodical he was. He systematically went through every inch of our house checking everything. His engineering training is obvious and very useful in that he knows things at a level that other’s simply don’t have the training for. He didn’t shy away from the difficult-​to-​get-​at areas with very small crawl spaces. He went inside rather than just shining a light on them. He provided me with a full, detailed report including pictures and answered all of my questions. One commenter said he was «unfriendly» and refused to answer any questions he didn’t feel like answering”. I have to say, I don’t know what this guy’s experience was, but I’m wondering if he’s reviewing the correct person? Mike is really outstanding and appropriately named. While he has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, I doubt anyone ever uses it.

Worst home inspector ever. Refuse to answer any of my questions. When asked about his background or what type of inspection that he will be performing, he puts up a disclaimer that he’s not responsible for this and that. Unfriendly and refuse to answer any my questions he doesn’t feel like answering. Does not take the extra time and effort to inspect. You will get a detailed report full of obvious problems and all your major problems will be ignored. I do NOT recommend this home inspector.

Very good inspector. He took his time with the job. Took pictures of everything. Presented us with a binder, cd rom and explained the entire process to us afterward. Totally professional and very thorough. I recommend him.
