In follow up to a previous negative review, this little article in the Times gave me a chuckle. In addition to having staff/ownership that caves under the pressures of owning a restaurant and takes their anger out on customers via the phone when an order is being placed. The Times released some nice restaurant inspection information! Enjoy! And drive just a little bit further for some better food! Uncle Joe’s Pizza & Subs, 320 Highway 315, Pittston Township, Dec. 1. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: An open employee’s beverage container was observed in prep area. Person in charge covered and moved beverage during inspection. Food ingredient containers, in the kitchen area, were not labeled with the common name of the food. PIC labeled containers during this inspection. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available in one refrigeration unit. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. The deflector plate of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have a black slimy residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The area was cleaned during this inspection. Observed a build up of dust on ventilation hoods above cooking area.

Wow… how hard is is to make a decent pie Stayed at the comfort Inn just across the lot ‚ Tried twice, the second out of desperation The toppings are from a can, pizza doughy and undercooked… NY style you are joking The only reason this place is in business, is because of the hotel, people passing thru… because nobody eats hear more than twice

One of the, if not the, best round pies in the area. Staff was somewhat friendly but didn’t go over the top to do anything special for us but the order was correct and delicious.

This was quite possibly the best New York slice I’ve ever had! My boyfriend and I got the 2 slices and a soda special for 5 bucks. The slices were huge and cooked perfectly! The sauce was super flavorful and the ratio of sauce to cheese was on point. We got our order quickly and the staff was very nice. I’ll definitely be back next time I go through Pittston!

Great NY style pizza. Not for the average Pennsylvanian pizza lover who likes sweet sauce and American cheese on their pizza. Nice thin crust oozing with a mozzarella and provolone cheese blend. We received great service late at night. Wings were a bit small, but very tasty. We also got garlic knots which were also very good. We will be going back. Highly recommended to my fellow New York transplants here in NEPA.

Purchased a $ 9 sub that had stale bread, maybe 6 slices of meat and when asked if that was normal the guy behind the counter said that’s how we make our subs. Had a Stromboli a few weeks ago which was far to expensive for what you got. Do yourself a favor and go to the Wal-Mart next door far better subs and pizza! That should tell you the whole story!

where to start with this place, so I called in my order for pick up, the girl in the front did not greet instead she moved a plate that had sauce to the back then came back still no hello and added up my total, whatever any way I drove back home wich is a 15 min drive open up my pizza and INSTEAD of a large pie there was a medium, I attempted to call then and give them a piece of my mind but i was on hold for 7 minutes. on top of that the fries that i ordered were not even fried completely instead i came home and fried them over and the buffalo bites well if your looking for pieces of chicken with no breading or sauce this is the place I will never recommend this place. The pizza is average. The service is below average. The people aren’t friendly. Oh, and they’re 0-for-2 in terms of getting my order right. No more for me. There are plenty of other/better pizza options just down the road. Skip this one.

Pizza during Lent, I did not expect instant service… but attempting to call for an hour with nothing but an option to leave a message. Ok, I stop in to place a delivery order… an hour, but again it’s Lent… so I’m not surprised. First off… NOONE charges full price for a topping if you only order a half topping, come on… especially when I order it face to face and you don’t bat an eye to charge me full. Kudos to your driver for explaining your policy, even more to where he tells me «I said I would get you credit» and he did. Second…Uncle Joe is new here, because his idea of «double crust» is completely different than anyone else around here… meaning let’s just fold a regular pie in half… that doubles the crust, right? Good flavor, high priced, best part was your driver’s integrity… but 34 bucks for 2 pies… nah, will go elsewhere next time.

So check this out… I call here because it just opened and it’s close to my house. Even though the reviews are pretty bad I like the fact that they deliver. Anyways I call them and the girl in the phone tells me they have a $ 25.00 minimum to deliver. Pretty steep for this area. I ask where I can find a menu and she’s not really sure but tells me they have a Facebook page. I tell her I’ll call back after I choose. I choose and call. Before I even get a chance to order I hear someone in the back ground pretty much encouraging NOT to order. He says it’s going to be well over an hour. I ask the girl on my phone if they just don’t want to deliver and her only response was that they were too busy. Keep in mind… BEFORE11am. I think not. What are these people thinking!!! We will never order from this place.

I just went to Uncle Joe’s pizza and subs for the first time today. And was extremely satisfied! I ordered a 14 inch pizza and I seen him roll out the dough put the pizza in the oven and it came out nice and hot and fresh in 15 minutes! Amazing pizza! And great prices! I’m a truck driver so I’m at the truck stop across the street now I actually keep this in mind just to come to the pizza place.

Horrible pizza and way over priced. The crust was to thick and on the white pizza to much Raw garlic. And I love garlic!!! Pizzano in avoca a better pizza and only 5.99 not 17.00 a tray.

Had to update my Uncle Joe’s review, as it was markedly different the last few times I stopped in. The food was still the same, a very good quality/fresh«mall pizza and subs.» However, the service seems to have taken a nose dive. It’s almost like you’re disturbing the guys behind the counter who are busy doing nothing at all when you walk in. Need to hire a ‘front of the house’ manager or at least keep someone on whose sole responsibility is to handle customer service. I’ll choose to go elsewhere next time I have a craving for pizza or a hot wing hoagie, sorry Uncle Joe.

Stopped in for lunch. The counter pies were plain, pepperoni and chicken wing. I grabbed two slices and a bottled drink and almost fell over when it was 10 $. The pizza was thin and crisp just like a good NY slice. The sauce was good and there was ample cheese. They use boar’s head brand meats for their subs. The salads seemed to be a nice size. The price is the only down side.
