Ye Olde Centerton Inn

Worth the drive! Built in 1706 or so — building has great character and I wish I had the lovely wide plank flooring in my home. Nice sized bar when you walk in, and about 3 separate small dining areas — great for intimate dining or a fun girlfriend group. Menu choices and high quality you would expect in an historic restaurant in Center City, but way more reasonable prices. I had Governor’s Pork Tenderloin — delicious and unique for only 24.50. They offer a good selection for seafood, beef, chicken, and pasta entrees as well as roasted long island duck. Included with my entrée I had the Centerton Salad, which was exactly as described but not a favorite with me. Finished my fine meal with smooth coffee and a scrumptious pound cake that had almond paste mixed in, covered with a huge amount of fresh blueberries and homemade whipped cream. I found out that both the bread and desserts are made in house. Not far off of Route 55 — I say enjoy the drive and give it a try!

Hidden Treasure!!! My wife and I always have an excellent experience at the Inn. The chefs take tremendous care in creating delicious and interesting entrees. Each time we go is new and fun experience for our tastebuds. We do also enjoy the standards like the Centerton Salad. OMG… Is there anything better! But it’s always fun to try something new or try a unique special. Besides the food, the waitstaff is outstanding. They are friendly, accommodating and courteous. We look forward to returning.

Ye Olde Centerton Inn is one of the most quaint places I’ve ever been. The outside of the building is old, and although it could use a few touch ups it has alot of character. When you enter, you’ll step into the bar which leads you into the different dining rooms. I counted at least 3. The restaurant is clearly a converted house, which keeps the dining areas small and cozy.
I stopped by Ye Olde Centerton Inn for lunch, which they only serve a few days a week. I ordered the crabcake sandwich which came with a side of french fries. The sandwich was okay, not sure I would order it again. The fries were delicious.
Aside from kitchen staff, there was only one employee working which was fine since we were the only people there. He was friendly and attentive.

What once was a great restuarant 10 or so years ago has steadily fallen apart. Just the look of the building itself tells the care the owners must have. The exterior needs re-​painting desperately, and the door to the kitchen looks to be held on with prayer. Shame this once glorious place has been run down so badly. I had over cooked rubbery scallops. My wife had an undercooked pork chop. What a shame. Ith good management and ownership this place may turn around. Maybe call in Chef Ramsey…

Went here for a birthday dinner and everyone really enjoyed it. It seriously is like going 300 years back in time because of the colonial décor and artwork. Loved it! Food was very good. Centerton salad is garlicky and cheesy! Centerton steak is filet mignon with loads of crab meat and béarnaise sauce. I highly recommend this place!

Amazing place if you can find it open. Their chowder is one of the best I’ve ever had. Their salad is garlicky, and their desserts are out of this world. The history of the place is great, too!

Ok, family and I came here for special occasion. We haven’t been here in a while
but daughter requested this place for her. I really was surprised how the place has gone down. The exterior tells a lot of what to expect inside. Needs severe painting
outside with some attractive plants. Inside, it was quiet. Our waiter was very nice
even though he had just started the job. I ordered the filet. When it came out, it
was burnt on one side. I didn’t want to say anything to spoil the evening. The bread
tasted stale. That was the worst tasting bread I’ve had. It tasted like they ran
to Shop Rite and grabbed some old bread off the shelves. The salad was just a salad.
Everything else was so-​so. They brought out the limited plate of desserts. In
the good old days, there was an assortment. But now not so much.

Went to dinner here last night with the boyfriend. I’ve passed this place a couple hundred times and never really gave it a second thought. When it was suggested I figured, why not?
Overall I enjoyed my experience but I wasn’t blown away.

To my delight they had a decent beer selection when most of these local-​type joints don’t.
Centerton Salad was delicious (loaded up with garlicky goodness that I am going to have to try to recreate at home.

For the area this place is pretty good and I would go back. If it were located somewhere with more options, it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Great meal! It’s the details that count starting with the ambiance and fried peanuts upon being seated. Shortly after ordering the centerton salad was delivered with its garlicky goodness accompanied by fresh baked rolls. The steak centerton (filet topped with crab meat) was better than I remembered and cooked perfectly. The desert platter always takes it over the top with a touch sweetness.
Sure you could get a filet at a corporate chain restaurant for about ten dollars less but it would be salt drenched, the bread would be warmed out of a package, the salad would be out of a bag, and it certainly wouldn’t be topped with jumbo lump crab meet. If you pay another eight bucks for desert you’re in the same ball park.
I vote you bring ye olé’ centerton inn back into your rotation.

We went to the Ye Olde Centerton Inn last night with another couple. The atmosphere was like we were in an old haunted house. Floors creaked, walls were old and dingy looking but that’s ok, it adds character to the place. Our waiter (Andy) was pleasant and accommodating although he was new and didn’t know to pour the wine for the entire party. He was still better then others I’ve had in classier places. The house salad was very good. That’s about the only compliment I can give on the food! I ordered chicken with shrimp, scallops and crabmeat over linguine. When the food came out I was appalled and horrified at the presentation! It was a dish full of linguine with so much red sauce over it there was no telling what was under it. Honestly it looked like someone vomited on the dish! I found one piece of shrimp under the mound of sauce, there was possibly a small piece of chicken under there. I took about 5 bites. And had to stop, it had NO taste at all! Absolutely AWFUL! The WORST meal I’ve ever had! I’m a fairly easy person to please when it comes to food. Had we not been with friends I would have sent the meal back as soon as it came out. My husband ordered the veal parm, it was slightly more presentable however not a whole lot!
In short it was way overpriced, quality of food was horrible. I would rather eat a burger from mcdonalds! For the $ 100.00 we spent after tip per couple it’s a def NEVER AGAIN!

I am so amazed that with the current owners, this place is still open for business! Living less than a mile away from the Inn, it was very convenient to go there for dinner, a drink, even spent some holidays there. Until now! The owners do NOT know how to run a business. They are rude and extremely unwelcoming. Living so close I would pop by for a «late» dinner at 7pm (they close at 9pm) when there is not a car in the parking lot and I immediately felt like I was intruding and not wanted the minute I was «greeted» inside. How do you send these vibes to a paying customer??! This would happen often, not just to myself but I’ve heard other people complain of the same treatment. The final straw was when myself and a small group of friends wanted to stop in for drinks the day before thanksgiving (only the biggest going out night of the year!) At 6pm and of course no one was there again (10 people in the whole place) and we wanted to sit at a small table in the bar. The lovely owners told us no as they were getting ready to set the table for the next night. (AT 6PM!) Again, treating PAYING customers like you don’t want them there is the most idiotic thing you can do as the owners! So the 8 of us left and took our business elsewhere. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! I am not hard to pleaae and I do not look for things to complain about. It just amazes me how RUDE the owners (not even so much the other staff) are. Do yourself a favor and go right down the road to Fraklinville Inn where they know how to treat you! Also, having to pass the Inn everyday, it would be nice of they would keep up the property. Weeds are growing everywhere, the paint is all chipped, and the window boxes are rotting away. I will be VERY happy when this place is in the hands of new owners with taste and much more class.

I feel compelled to write about my Thanksgiving Day experience at Ye Old Centerton since I just came from there and I was so happy with it. Due to certain personal circumstances I had to forego a traditional home holiday this year. I thought Centeron would be a good option due to the cozy atmosphere. I wasn’t sure I was going to order the turkey dinner. I am glad I opted for it rather than crab imperial. I can go back for the crab imperial. They served 4 large moist turkey breast slices atop a creamy white, cheesy mac and cheese, a sausage stuffing, a mashed potato, and a candied sweet potato. This was all topped with sauteed green beans and delicious gravy. There was a small side of cranberry sauce made with whole berries. It was more like a relish infused with at least one other candied fruit flavor maybe even an alcohol reduction of some sort. Sorry I didn’t pay more attention to the menu description. They kind of laid all of the different food on the plate on top of one another and covered it with gravy like you would do if you were eating it at home. Yet, it didn’t look like a sloppy mess. Everything was SO delicious. Very traditional yet very tasty and done well. We also had shrimp cocktail and a bottle of Malbec. Our server, Bart, was very professional and attentive. I am also very pleased because I had a special table request and they delivered on that. I had such a nice experience and it only makes me want to go back and have dinner on a «normal» night. I live in East Vineland and sometimes I forget they are over there. Well done. Thanks for a nice holiday meal.

Well was there again last night for our anniversary… the stand outs were the Duck Toscana (duck over white beans with a cabbage leaf stuffed with rice… the duck was tender, done perfectly (medium) and fantastic. Duck is hard to get right for some places but they nailed it!
I had the lamb chop special. lamb was tender and flavorful and the side was a sweet potato /​cheese concoction. Now with that said I hate sweet potatoes. YUCK but I have to say they way they were prepared has turned me into a sweet potato fan (sort of)… not sure how that happened.
The soup was a lobster bisque which was how I like it … thick, chunky (with lobster) and flavorful. Only thing I missed was I like to add sherry to my soup and did not think of it till after I scarfed it down.
To complement the meal I ordered a bottle of Tempranillo, Rojadorada — toro. went well with the duck and lamb but do not let the nose fool you ;)
For desert we had an EXTRAORDINARY bottle of a Riesling desert wine. Sweet yet enough acid to carry the day…
