Meet the Manager

Alix W.

Manager

Hi, I’m Alix the manager and head cheesemonger at Wheel and Wedge. My background is in Food Writing, but I am loving my new career in cheese. In July 2014, I won a scholarship through Slow Food Pittsburgh to attend the American Cheese Society Conference in Sacramento. I owe my passion and newfound knowledge to that opportunity. Since returning, I’ve been busier than ever trying to get American artisan cheeses in the hands of Pittsburghers. I have found a lot of joy in researching cheese and beer pairings since then, and it has become a fun and delicious niche for me. Tough job, I know. I’m all about making the cheese buying experience as enjoyable and approachable as possible so ask me anything you want to know about cheese. I’m here to help!
