Sears Auto Center

I went in for a free diagnostic check and possible brake repair and oil change. They quoted me almost $ 600 for front brakes. Wow! My car was just inspected in May without any issues. They said my battery wasn’t good and I had just bought it at Auto Zone with warranty. Wow! I told them it was out of my budget so I’ll just get the advertised $ 19.99 oil change. When they finished my total was $ 80. Wow! He said that my car which is a 2010 Pontiac Vibe takes special oil. Wow! If you’re a woman please take a man with you or they’ll take you to the cleaners.

Went to get my brakes checked. Ended up with a $ 400+ bill for rear brakes alone (pads, and 1 rotor) for a Maxima. Definitely a rip-​off even tho the guy at the desk claimed that he «doesn’t like to charge people more than necessary.» Complete BS. In addition, the main manager lectured about the ins and outs of brakes to justify the outrageous parts/​labor charges before leaving me with a trainee since I wasn’t buying his excues. If I hadn’t been in a rush to start a long trip home, I definitely would have gone elsewhere.

I was a little worried about coming to this location because of the low amount of stars it had, and because of the tire issues people have had, but when I arrived for my tire alignment I was not worried at all.
I made an appointment the night before, and they confirmed my appointment at 8:53 AM the next day.
Now, I had taken my car to Firestone to get my tires aligned and they stated that I needed to get a tie rod replaced, amongst other things and that it would cost over $ 700. I knew it was bullshit because I had gotten my tie rod replaced 3 days before I brought it in to Firestone by my mechanic.
So, I was a little worried about bringing my car to another big chain. But once I arrived, they gave me the price for a one year alignment after taxes, which was a little over $ 120, and they said that they would text me when my car was ready. They also stated that if my car needed anything other than an alignment, they would call me personally. I roamed around the mall while my car was there, and it took them exactly 1 hour and 3 minutes for everything. When I arrived, they told me about how far off my alignment was, and I payed the same price they gave me when I first arrived — no scamming, no extra work needed, just honest mechanics. I am very happy with the work that was done, and would highly recommend this location.

First and foremost, I am not a car person. The idea of having car trouble is intimidating to begin with but also because you don’t know who you can trust. I walked in looking for new tires and was shocked by the honesty and kindness of the employees. Elijah in particular was great. Thanks for everything.

After 5 hours of waiting for an oil change & new brakes on my smart car, I was told that the car «barely fit» on their car lift, so they weren’t able to service my car. I sincerely hope they don’t waste any other smart car owners time. Absolutely ridiculous… I spent FIVE hours in a mall!

Went to Sears to get new tires. I usually never go there but I was excited that they would price match tires even with internet prices. This was great for me because my car requires an odd size tire and they are high performance tires. In other words, expensive. I was quite please to hear that they were willing to do this for me.
After the initial quote and dropping my car off, things went downhill from there. After about an hour after I dropped my car off, they called me to let me know my car wouldn’t be done for an extra hour after they said it would be done and that my tire pressure sensors broke when they were removing them from the old tires. Not that big of a deal that it would take more time, but annoying because I was stuck at the mall without a car. I was more pissed that they broke my pressure sensors. They cost about $ 75 each to replace. I am not sure why I would have to be the one paying for them since they broke them. Anyways, I told them just to use the basic plastic stems rather than getting new tire pressure sensors. I also told them I wanted my tire sensors back because my car was still under warranty and I was going to see if I could have them replaced by the manufacture. When I went to finally pick up my car, for some reason, they threw my pressure gages away in the garbage. Hummmm thats funny, because I distinctly remember telling them to save them for me because I wanted them back. Yes, I made them dig through their trash for 30 mins untill they found 3 ½ of them. Not only that, they continued to talk to me as if I knew nothing about cars. In the words of Stephanie Tanner… HOW RUDE!
After having the new tires put on my car, I noticed my front right tire slowly started to continually loose air. I am so angry I don’t even want to go back there because I don’t want them touching my car ever again.
ok done venting :) I am still mad and it was over 4 months ago that this all happened.

If I could give them zero stars, I would.
The first time I went to this particular Sears Auto Center, I was getting new tires for my car. We walked in and the staff were goofing off and acting unprofessionally right in front of us and other customers. They were making prank phone calls among other things.
We get my car back two hours later and notice that they didn’t rotate the tires like I had asked. We let it go though because we were in a hurry to meet friends for dinner. So we drive off only to hear a thudding sound as we go. We pulled over and my husband saw that one of my tires wasn’t completely on the rim. So, we turned around and headed back to Sears. It’s so dangerous to drive a car with a tire not properly installed!
It took Sears another hour and a half just to fix the tire they didn’t put on properly the first time. They gave me a huge refund and a certificate for a free oil change. I felt better.
I came back a few months later for the oil change. A few days after the oil change I noticed my car smelled like something was burning. I opened the hood and they never put the oil cap back on and there was oil ALL OVER MY ENGINE.
Now, about a year and a half after these incidents, I came back to Sears because the tires they put on my car wore out after 15,000 miles which is horrible. The tire company said they should have lasted at least 40k and gave me a claim number to give Sears so I could get some money off new tires. It took Sears an hour just to figure out how to give me the discount. A WHOLE HOUR! It was painful.

Since I got the roller-​skate in 08′ I started coming here for my car maintenance. It’s easy to get to and reliable.
I tend to do things spontaneously so when I decide to make a run it’s quick and convenient. I don’t think I’ve ever waited more than an hour. Call ahead to see how busy they are as they don’t take appointments just walk ins. It gives me some time to peruse the mall. H&M and Forever 21 are right outside. I don’t like the mall. I much prefer hunting in boutiques and vintage shops.
Again, did I mention I hate the mall! So today I am playing on Unilocal rather than shopping! I’m an alien.
Mostly I get oil changes and inspections. So far the roller skate has never run into any «big deal» problems. I normally stay away from commercial listings but so far they have been fair. They make sure to reset the oil light, check my tire pressure when I have asked, and offered to rotate the tires when inspected, without racking up charges. The prices are pretty cheap and so far I have never been pressured into any unnecessary auto work. These guys are all right by me. I’ve been going for 3 years!
