Too much for the price. This hotel should never be above $ 100.00. Our price was double that.
It’s kind of a dive.
Not worth the money at all.
The only thing that was a positive was its close to the campus.

Queen bed is old. Mattress is old and uncomfortable. Pillows are tiny. No complementary breakfast!!! There is a Panera… but come on. I did get 3 free cookies upon arrival. Otherwise this place was a letdown.

I know it’s not the best hotel in the world or in Pittsburgh probably but I was really satisfied by the service I received and it’s close proximity to many attractions, amenities. It was good price and has free parking, there is also a Panera Bread right downstairs. The hotel staff is really knowledgable about things to do in the area and how to navigate around the city.
Me and a friend decided to visit Pittsburgh for the Presidents Day weekend. We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights which was only $ 200 so not too bad. The room was alright we had a good view on our balcony, you could see the University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning and most of Oakland which is the neighborhood that this hotel is located in. The first problem I had was that my head board broke on my bed when I was leaning on it, the staff was very friendly and offered to switch rooms, but I opted to just let the maintenance man fix it the next day since we were going out for the night. The other problem was that both of my credit cards had been charged for my stay when it should have only been one. I mostly believe this is Expedia’s fault since I booked with them and I have two forms of payment and they must have charged both which I don’t understand but whatever. The charges were fixed right away and they apologized for any inconvenience.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay in Pittsburgh and the service we received at Quality Inn was great!

This is a very nice hotel– nothing fancy, but I was not disappointed– I expected a decently clean room, comfortable bed and wanted a safe and restful sleep. For the rate I paid– $ 99, these expectations were met. What gives this a five star rating are the extra little things. First of all, Mike at the front desk was very professional and efficient. He acknowledged my Diamond status and gave me a free set of Quality Inn ear buds with a complimentary room up-​grade. I had made my own reservation and my secretary had made another– so I hade two reservations out there for one room. He immediately brought that to my attention and cancelled the extra room even though the cancellation deadline had passed. Often a hotel stay is ruined by the front desk experience– regardless of how nice the room is. For a hotel to make that great first impression, sign in staff are very important– Thanks Mike. Secondly, they provide a free shuttle to surrounding hospitals and businesses– this saved me a day of parking fees– nice touch. The rooms have free HBO, flat screen TVs, micro fridge, quite rooms, microwave, iron, hot working shower. It is attached to a Panera restaurant– and another small extra that really makes a difference with me– free coffee with flavored creamers! (Hate that powdered crap!)

If all you need is a place to sleep and you don’t mind a terrible mattress, then this place might be satisfactory. Otherwise, pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

I stayed here for my first night of a 5-​day solo roadtrip. I checked in around 8pm on a Saturday night since I’d gone to a Pirates game immediately upon driving in, but the process went swiftly. I chose it since it was one of the cheaper options a few miles away from downtown as well as it’s proximity to the university which usually means good bars and restaurants.
For the price I paid, it was decent. The elevators are slow, but thankfully there are two of them. The lock on the hotel door had a lot of give. Like A LOT of give. I didn’t need a crystal ball to know that it’d been busted into at some point. Also the sliding glass door to the «balcony» was there for decoration because anyone could’ve gotten into the room from outside. The water pressure was decent, but far from great.
All the staff I talked to and dealt with were nice and pleasant. The free parking was also a huge benefit, and the free wifi was actually pretty good. Bed was fairly comfortable, and the room was clean. And it’s a short walk to Pitt’s campus, and there were a lot of food and pub options less than a mile away.
For the price, it was doable. If you’re there to see the university or for the nearby hospital, you’re in a solid area.

Was in town just to see the sites and take in a ball game. Was looking for a hotel that wasn’t too expensive as all we do is sleep there and this one was perfect. The quality is what is expected from one of the cheaper options but it was clean, the staff was great and the location couldnt have been better. Right around many of the tourist destinations and easy access to downtown by driving or bus. Right downstairs was a panera bread which was convenient to grab and go or to lounge inside or at their outdoor seating. Would stay here again.

Quality Inns continue to be, to me, the most inconsistent of the Choice Hotel family of hotels, and this hotel fits that mold. That’s unfortunate, because there are some good qualities about the hotel. The most important of these are the rooms themselves. My room was large, pleasant, and quiet, and it even had a terrace with a view. But other things just chipped away at what could have been a more enjoyable stay and better review.
The Wi-​Fi was initially challenging. My tablet connected immediately, but it took about a dozen attempts for my computer to connect. When it did, I experienced no further problems, and response time was generally good.
The temperature control wasn’t as efficient as it could have been, but I compensated for that by simply setting the temperature about 2 degrees cooler.
Then there’s that sign on the mirror, as per other photos — steam sets off the fire alarm, so keep the bathroom door closed when showering. Well… okay. But my bathroom door, which was made of metal, did not close well. Would it be sufficient? (it was). Also, would having the heat lamp on affect it once I opened the bathroom door? And how long did I have to let the bathroom cool off/​dry out before emerging? A sign is a TEMPORARY solution.
This Quality Inn suffers from the inability to provide a breakfast. That is because of the situation involving the Panera Bread in this building. It sounds like the Panera Bread owner is unwilling to work with the hotel owner to provide some sort of discount or agreement between the two, and that’s bad. It also affects my opinion of the Panera Bread restaurant.
If you do stay here, be aware of the breakfast situation. Since Panera Bread is unwilling to provide a deal, I suggest you vote with your wallet and check out some of the independent restaurants and diners in the area over the chain restaurant.

I stayed here for a night to check out the Pittsburgh Hashing. The place is right near the university so even with Expedia it was $ 125 on a Thursday. It is in very bad need of renovation. There was sloppy patch work and cracks in the walls. Someone must have had a helluva party in there before. There is a sign warning to close the door when you shower so you don’t set off the fire alarms. The balcony sliding door was previously broken into and the repair job was really just rigged. I had to ask for a security bar to make sure no one was able to break in again. I guess for what I needed the room for it was fine. The room was clean and there were no odors of any kind. I only needed a place to sleep off a night of drinking and that’s what I got. But for the price and the 3-​star rating I was disappointed.

I’ve stayed here a couple times, both times for only one night. The rooms are pretty standard; the hotel is designed to be practical. A huge plus is that the shower drains have been clean of hair in my experience, which was a nice surprise – no flooded tubs! I also liked the balconies with each room – not anything more than a piece of concrete to stand on outside the room, but not something found in many hotels. The one experience I’ve had with the cleaning staff was positive – she was polite and seemed happy.
At about $ 100 a night, this is the least expensive hotel I’ve found in the immediate Oakland area. It’s a little removed from the busier parts of town, but there are lots of places to eat along Forbes within a couple minutes by car, and that area is also within walking distance. There’s also a Panera Bread attached to the hotel.

Like everyone else, it needs updating badly. But it’s a budget type hotel so you get what you pay for.
Its near the universities, very friendly staff with downtown and school maps at the trade, free shuttle and pick up to schools.
Panera on the main floor and easy on/​off to the highway.
This will be our spot for visiting our college student.

Standard rooms, decently clean, balconies are run down. Overall comfortable enough for a short stay if you’re not picky. Shuttle service, free wifi and Panera downstairs are convenient! It was about 125 $ a night.
However, make sure you check out before 11am. No one made it clear to me that I had to check out by 11am or else I would get charged for another night. When I called about the mistake, they said the policy is in the papers I signed in the beginning so I could not be refunded.

I wouldn’t stay in this dump again if it was for free. Not only is it a dump you get very poor customer service

This hotel is a good value if you are just looking for a place to sleep. It’s an older hotel in need of some repairs. However, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the water pressure was great.

I stay here a lot because of my doctors appointments. I get a discount for having testing and appointments. I live about 2hrs away so that’s one nice thing and it’s very close to the hospitals. I can walk up there so I don’t have to pay for parking or take the hotel shuttle. It’s nice, flat screen tv, comfortable bed, free WiFi. The staff is always nice and friendly to me.
It does need some updating, but it’s not a bad place. You’re close to a lot of things, a short bus or taxi ride to other places.

Well, when I arrived in Pittsburgh it was apparently graduation time and nearly all the hotels were booked. The only choice would have been $ 300+ per night and because I didn’t know how long it’s going to take me to find temporary accommodation I checked in here! I still payed $ 110/​night plus tax of course!
The location is not too bad as you’re only a hop away from Fifth Avenue, where most of the buses pass by, be it towards Downtown or in any other direction.
The rooms are quite big, the bed was comfy, but the staff was lazy to say the least! My room got not cleaned in a 3 day stay. Whenever I had a question at the reception, people would move in slow motion, roll their eyes and then give a quick mumbling answer. Not helpful at all.
On the plus side, there’s free coffee and tea next to the reception and they do have free WIFI.
If you can’t find anything cheaper then this it is acceptable for a night or two (not that it is good value for money).

This is just your normal hotel, nothing really spectacular about it. The front desk people were helpful and kind, but not overly so. The room itself was clean and maintained — actually quite big for a 2 person room. It had the kind of ‘feel’ of an old, seedy place, but that could entirely be me.
One weird part was that, during the day, I had heard strange noises next door. Now, most hotels don’t have thick walls, so that’s just to be expected. But it was some woman yelling at someone on the phone, kind of nonsensically. Turns out, it was a maid who was cleaning/​flipping the room. But, in the meantime, she was freaking out on someone on the phone and watching TV making for a very noisy encounter. It was during the day, I know, but I’m not excited to ever listen to people shout.
Otherwise, this place was open during the busiest weekend in Pittsburgh — perhaps that says something about the price to distance ratio — but if you are into the university section, which has a lot of great stuff, it’s walking distance to great things.

Stayed here this past weekend.
The rooms are basic. Dresser, desk, bed, end table, alarm clock, table, chairs, TV and coffee machine.
The bed was fine. There is no channel guide in the room, and certain channels are very fuzzy. And holy lord are the walls THIN. If you plan on sleeping in, be warned. You WILL be woken up by the maids letting doors of other rooms slam at the other end of the hall.
There is also coffee and tea available in the lobby, as well as a button in the elevator for Panera Bread. The counter… kids were very nice. Their shuttle though, has a very limited area itll go to. We had to go to a church that was a 7 minute ride away and they said it was too far.
Theres not much in the area if youre not interested in exploring Duquesne University. The closest bars and restaurants (besides Panera) are up on Forbes St. Almost all the bars become unbearable clubs after 9.
Id recommend paying a little more and staying closer to downtown.

A decent mid-​range hotel just outside of downtown in the Oakland-​district.
The rooms are very spacious and furnished reasonable (not quite up to date).
The staff is helpful and nice. But unfortunately they are not always very professional, but if you have a bit of time, this is not a problem. In my case, among other little things, they debited the wrong credit card (which was used at booking and not the one I submitted).
The hotel also offers a breakfast café (Panera) and a so-​called «Courtesy Van», which is supposed to bring you to destinations in the neighborhood. The hotel is located near the main roads Forbes Ave, Boulevard of the Allies and 5^th Ave, where many bus routes are operated (including the 28X to the airport).
If I’m in Pittsburgh again, I will certainly include this hotel again on the shortlist.

I stayed here for three days and I was unpleasantly surprised quite a few times. I don’t mind cheap hotels, but this one not only was minimal but poorly maintained minimal. There is a Panera Bread on the second floor, which is mostly a plus, except my 4^th floor room had a new and exciting scent each time I came in. Not fresh baked bread smells, we are talking puke and feet and wet dog. The climate control is a little odd because there is a central climate system in the hotel and a wall heater for anything else you may need. No thermostat so you have to keep hopping up to turn it off and on. I wasn’t cold, but frequently was too warm. The gym consists of one bad treadmill and multi cable weight machine but at least they have a gym I guess.
The staff is surprisingly eh. Most of the bad service is due to the young and screwed up staff they seem to hire so I was surprised when I saw an older person who was also functionally retarded errr handicapped. I went to check out and said first thing I will pay with cash. 10 minutes later as I stand there with cash on the desk as she taps away at the computer she awakens from some trance and says «oh why are you standing here still?» oh gee I dont know. pay the bill. sign some papers and get on my way? Needless to say she had charged my credit card and went back to reading some website or writing some retards in Pittsburgh blog she runs.
(EDIT: They also overcharged my credit card by choosing the wrong rate and charging me twice!)
On the plus side the staff will give you a discount if you ask because they don’t care and there is a free shuttle that will take you up to a few miles away. Many food options within a mile of the hotel, but none in short walking distance. You’ll need a taxi if you want to go downtown.
