Parkhurst Event Catering

We used Parkhurst for our wedding catering. You are able to taste as many or as few appetizers and entrees as you wish at the tasting, which is held in the café at the Carnegie Science Center. It was a little weird to have a wedding tasting with a bunch of kids running around you. That aside, we were very pleased with all of the items we tasted and easily chose what we wanted. The plates looked beautiful and tasted incredible. They said «no problem» to all of my special requests for the bar and had a champagne toast option. They accommodated my food allergies and other special dietary requests of guests.
On the wedding day itself, things were a little different. Firstly, there were not enough servers. We had 100 guests and there were 6 servers. This caused a lot of the food to be cold and came out at random intervals. Secondly, the plates looked nowhere near as beautiful as the tasting. They were haphazardly thrown together and did not taste as good. I realize this may have been because they transported it from the Science Center kitchens to the Warhol, but I was very disappointed. They also forgot my salad (the bride!). Thirdly, the staff was a little rough around the edges. They did not look as presentable as I had hoped. Fourthly, instead of serving the champagne for the toast, it was all poured before hand and went very flat. They also ran out of the «Groom’s Pick» beer option early in the night. Lastly, my husband and I had special bottles of champagne to toast with (for just us). The bartender «lost» them and at the end of the night, they were nowhere to be found. Turns out, they were taken back to Parkhurst’s office. I had to drive out there to pick them up the following week.
Overall, it started out great and ended up not the best. I waited a little while to write this review because I didn’t want to be overly negative. However, after writing it, I have very little good to say about the experience. One of the most positive parts was working with Melissa. Her communication was great and any issues of the night were not really her fault. If you do end up using this service, ask for more waiters and voice your concerns!
