Carnegie Mellon University Contemporary Ensemble

We arrived early to a recent performance of the Contemporary Ensemble, and that turned out to be a great idea. It ended up being a standing room only event and one heck of an amazing evening.
The Ensemble is very capably conducted by Daniel Nesta Curtis. The pieces are all well rehearsed and wonderfully performed. The music may sound new to your ear, but they are always thrilling and engaging modern pieces that provoke and entertain.
We were treated to an amazing performance and the audience responded with a rousing standing ovation.
Yes, there is a place for the tried and true classics, however the Contemporary Ensemble plays the best music from our own era and they play it extraordinarily well.
Along with the performance there was a multimedia display that really added to both pieces. The technology went off without a hitch.
The admission was free. We will definitely return to hear more exciting music.
