We buy and sell amazing books and records at amazing prices. Our stock is 99% used with a smattering of new. We were voted «Best of Pittsburgh» in City Paper for 2014, and were the runner-​up for best bookstore in Pittsburgh in 2013 and 2014. Bookwise we’re particularly strong in literary fiction, poetry, history, biography, and local/​indy authors. We’ve got rare and antiquarian books, and first editions too. LP wise we’ve got an incredible selection of classic rock, funk, soul, and jazz, We pay cash for books and records, including current textbooks!

Our store is well-​curated, and we pride ourselves on being friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We opened on April 3, 2013, having taken over the business from the esteemed bookstore Awesome Books. We’re right in downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, near many acclaimed galleries, theaters, and hotels, and we are mere blocks from the Convention Center, and the Megabus and Grayhound stations/​stops. History

Established in 2013.

We opened our store on April 3rd 2013. We sell a well-​selected array of around 10,000 books in all subjects, and around 3000 vinyl LP records.

We have another location at 2030 Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill.

If you dig deep enough, you will find a treasure vinyl. That is 98% of the fun. The other two percent, freezing, pricing and waiting in line. Thanks for the great EW&F record.

Amazing Books is pretty good, but I would say it is a little unorganized. While I do find the process of finding books here is much much easier than Caliban, I would say that their process of selecting books is not that big? I found that their literary section was huge, but I think Caliban had a bigger range of books.
Regardless, they have interesting selections at a great price, and I will want to check this place out more when I am downtown. One thing that confused me was that they have this huge… uh, storage area with a lot of books. I actually don’t really know if I was supposed to see that because it looked a little messy. But it gave me a glimpse of how vast their inventory is.
Their check-​in rate doesn’t work.

I was pretty excited to come here to search for some books, but I was horrified. The store is cluttered, books are scattered all over the floor and are completely unorganized! I was looking through several titles, and the selection they have is too limited. The guy working (I assume he’s the owner) barely welcomed me to the store as he was too busy talking to another customer. I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Eric was very helpful for my first quick visit I made to the store. Easy to work with and helpful. I will be going back to see them again. I found two books I ‘needed’ for my collection in a matter of minutes.
A veritable plethora of books and interesting items. Looks like there are significant records available as well. I personally don’t use the records, but if you needed to build that portion of a collection there was no shortage of choices.
High five for ease of doing business and nice place and location.

I happened upon this store today and I’m glad I did. Found a unique and interesting art book (which is what I always look for), and the owner is friendly and helpful. May we always have cool bookstores around! (A side note: I signed up for an email receipt, and the company who processes these asked for feedback on the store by clicking on a smiley or frowny face. As silly as that is, I didn’t realize I’d clicked on the wrong one until too late, and it can’t be changed, which is lame! So I wanted to be sure I shared my true opinion here.)

This is a great local used book store. I was pleasantly surprised to find both of the books I was looking for, and I saved a good amount of money over buying the books new, and they were still in very good condition. Friendly staff as well.

A really friendly and knowledgeable staff. A good inventory of fascinating books (I think everyone could find at least one book they want to leave the store with). There could be a few more helpful signs for help in locating the various sections of the store, but it is also fun to just browse. It’s nice to have an independent bookstore downtown with a welcoming store and good inventory. Very cool that they are open on Sundays.
