Alter Ego Body Art Studio specializes in tattoos and body piercings, and we are the only studio in Pittsburgh that offers branding. We also do complex surface piercing. Our South Hills design studio offers a safe and sterile environment that is comfortable and inviting. We can help you design a custom piercing to give you a unique look, and we offer the perfect jewelry pieces to accent it. Our experienced tattoo artists have a range of specialties that include traditional, new-​school, biomechanical, black-​and-​gray, color, pin-​ups, whimsy, and horror. We offer services to people ages 13 and up (at the discretion of the artist and with in-​person parental consent for minors). When you walk in to Alter Ego, we will get you working with the artist who specializes in the art you want. Your artist will work with you on all facets of the project to ensure that your vision comes to life, while staying within any boundaries such as size or budget. We also follow up with you after the procedure to ensure that you are satisfied. Please call or stop by Monday through Saturday between noon and 8 pm, and discover what makes us different! Meet the Business Owner

Dave S.

Business Owner

Dave with his wife, Jaime, who is the shop’s business manager, opened Alter Ego Body Art Studio in September 2012.

Dave has been piercing since 2002, and takes pride in being one of the few piercers around who is the owner of a tattoo and piercing studio. He is known for being extremely proficient, precise and fast, and for helping clients feel very comfortable and at ease. Dave trained by apprenticing for 6 months with an artist who had been piercing for years. He is bloodborne-​pathogen certified. Dave does brandings and most common and exotic piercings, but specializes in surface piercings and surface anchors (often known as dermal anchors).
