We drive far to eat at Pichlers Chicken Annie’s. It’s always busy but never a wait for a table. The food is all homemade and awesome. Fried chicken is their own style, juicy with thin, crispy coating and a hint of garlic. For 3 or 4 diners try the family style dinner at a great price and you’ll leave happy! I prefer their chicken to most other famous fried chicken places in Kansas City, Nashville, Dallas or elsewhere(I travel the country extensively) but everyone has their own preferences. Add this spot to your bucket list for fried chicken, livers & gizzards.

We wanted to try Annie’s place after eating at Chicken Mary’s a few months ago, so we drove 1 hr 45 mins. The service was great. We wanted dark meat family style that wasn’t on menu… No problem. We also ordered an onion ring appetizer, baked potato, and applesauce. The rings definitely a hit, and a star higher than Mary’s place. Chicken was pretty much plain Jane and just a hair overdone, but still good. Again, service was great, and food was hot coming to the table. My vote would be Mary’s first and Annie’s second.

Where do I begin? As an official barnyard pimp I am qualified to judge my experience at the«world famous» Chicken Annie’s” here we go. Service is great. Wasn’t terribly busy on Tuesday night. Prices are average. Sides are ok. Now about the bird. It’s nothing to crow about. I was so excited to try this place only to be served up some crispy Swanson frozen chicken TV dinner. Typically 40 yrs ago that wasn’t such a bad thing. This is mediocre at best on the fried bird meter. It’s sad to think so many consider this great fried chicken. A good Chester’s would shut this place down.

Love this place! There are many chicken places in the area and Chicken Annie’s is the best. The food is very good; the chicken is HUGE and you will definitely have leftovers. The sides are good as well. The gravy for the mashed potatoes is very creamy and I don’t know what they do to the green beans but they are the best I have ever had! The staff is very nice and professional.

The fried chicken here is the best in town. The seating is pretty cramped. The German potato salad and slaw are great. Fries are good and so are the mash potatoes even though they are instant. Creamy slaw and baked beans is good as well, but they tend to over cook their green beans. Everyone orders the onion rings here. They are thin and crispy and extremely delicious. Their pitchers of beer are under $ 6. The shrimp dinner is actually pretty good even though its frozen. I’ve been going here for forever and they have never served everything on styrofoam and use plastic forks. That must have been a different restaurant.

I have been eating at Chicken Annies since the 60’s at one location or another. Pichler’s has great Chicken and sides. The bread is typical of the area Delicious french local bakery bread. When I eat there it is always super busy so the chicken is piping burn your mouth hot. The german slaw and german potato salad is always what i order. Over the years at times it will be more or less vinegary but always good. The wait staff is composed of local college or high school kids so that changes a lot also. Always my go to place for a meal with friends and family or just if we are passing through south of town on our way to Branson etc.

The chicken and sides are ALWAYS good and the décor feels like a grandma’s old house that hasn’t been redecorated since the 50s or 60s. I think the restaurant may actually be in a old house that’s been modified into a restaurant. The only thing I really don’t care for is how they serve everything on styrofoam plates and use disposable silverware. I think it’s wasteful. Aside from that we drive to Pittsburg a couple times a year just to eat chicken here and have been doing so for as long as I can remember!
