Description

Specialties

Imagine a space filled with art, designer toys, books, coffee, tea, wine, live music, and dancing. Impossible? Take a turn about downtown Pittsboro and you will stumble upon Davenport & Winkleperry, a gallery, cafè & lounge that offers all those extraordinary things along with other amusing oddities for your purchase, most with a hint of the Victorian aesthetic.

History

Established in 2010.

D&W’s owner, Emmett Davenport, has a deep love of the neo-victorian aesthetic and wanted a place to share it with other like-minded folks. Pittsboro’s quaint downtown seemed the perfect spot. The company name reflects the creative pursuits of its owner. Miss Davenport is one of the hosts ‘The Clockwork Cabaret’, a weekly steampunk radio show on WCOM in Carrboro, NC.

Meet the Business Owner

Emmett D.

Business Owner

With the resilience of a shark and swinging fists that would send Mike Tyson crying for his momma, Emmett is a high-spirited cross between a glitzy Jazz Age flapper girl and an in-your-face punk rocker. She’s equally comfortable spending a weekend in a quiet place reading 19th century literature or guzzling down multiple pints of Guinness in the parking lot outside a club, smashing stuff. She is one of the hosts of the weekly steampunk radio program, The Clockwork Cabaret, on WCOM 103.5 FM Carrboro/Chapel Hill and she also owns an art gallery, Davenport & Winkleperry, in Pittsboro, NC so you know she’s classy.
