Groff’s Mill Pond Nursery

I live down the street from this place. Extremely fortunate to have a place like this close-​by. This is in my opinion the best nursery in this area especially regarding the care of the plants. I have spent hundreds of dollars in plants over the last couple years and haven’t had a problem with a single one yet.
They also have a good selection of mature trees and shrubs as well as various types of soils and mulches. We buy a gardening mix /​soil there called bumper crop that is hands down the best soil I’ve ever used in my life to start off new plants.
If I had one critique it would be to include more «unique» or «hard to find» plants, in other words not the same stock I could find at almost any other garden center. That is not really the case with Groff’s but I suppose they have their reasons for the inventory they carry. Other than that firm 5 stars. Check them out around Christmas too. They have a beautiful selection of lights, ornaments, and other christmas decorations.

It’s nice to have a local nursery close by. They have nice selections of flowers and trees. The prices are reasonable. The employees did not look approachable and willing to help that day. But we managed on our own. They also have a decent selection of pots.

In the interest of disclosure I should note that when I was in college, I had a job working for Groff’s and loved it. I worked my *ss off for my just above minimum wage paycheck. But that was a loooong time ago, so I think it’s safe to write a review.
Groff’s is awesome. It runs a bit upscale, so prices are a bit higher, but you get what you pay for. They take really good care of their plants, do great landscaping and have a nice selection of hardscape for the yard. They specialize in flowering and ornamental trees, annuals, herbs, perennials, roses, flowering shrubs, yard care products, and seasonal goods. At Christmas time they sell Christmas trees, wreaths, fresh garland, lights, yard decorations, etc. They also have a Christmas house on site that sells interior decorations and collectible houses.
The long term employees are very knowledgable about plants and their care. I learned a tremendous amount about gardening from my coworkers there. They can help you select the best plants for your circumstances and your garden know-​how. Recommended without reservation. A must-​visit at Christmas!
