Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School is the ‘Leader in Climber Education’. We offer Rock Climbing and Ice Climbing trips throughout the Southeast including North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, and Georgia. We tailor to individuals, families, groups, beginners and offer climbing skills courses for experienced climbers seeking to expand their skills and knowledge. We also offer climbing Instructor training and certifications through the AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor, Single Pitch Instructor and Rock Instructor Program.

History

Established in 1994.

Fox Mountain Guides was started by the first AMGA Certified Rock Guide in the Southeast and has now become the region’s largest Climbing School, one of the largest on the East Coast. FMG gained Accreditation by the American Mountain Guides Association in 2005 and is still the only Guide Service to have gained this high standard in the region. FMG now offers rock, ice and mountaineering trips throughout the Southeast, all over the USA and worldwide. FMG has worked with TV channels such as The Discovery Channel, PBS, ABC, The Travel Channel, UNCTV, and has been written about in the New York Times, Atlanta Journal, Backpacker and Rock an Ice Magazine to name just a few!

Meet the Business Owner

Adam F.

Business Owner

Originally from the United Kingdom, Adam grew up in the heart of the Peak District National Park climbing the local Grit and Limestone. He started instructing and guiding in the U.K. in 1989 and since then has climbed and guided in such places as Europe, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Australia and extensively in the U.K., U.S.A. and New Zealand.

Adam has been teaching rock climbing and guiding in North Carolina since 1994 and now guides across the USA and New Zealand throughout the year based in Brevard, NC for the summers and in New Zealand October-​March. He gained the highest level of rock certification in the US, the AMGA Rock Guide Certification in 2001. He is the National Discipline Coordinator for the AMGA’s Single Pitch Instructor Program and also works for the AMGA teaching and examining higher level AMGA courses in the rock discipline as a member of the AMGA Instructor Pool.
