Anara Medspa & Cosmetic Laser Center

I went to Anara Medspa and received a deep pore facial. The atmosphere was relaxing and the aesthetician Christina was extremely kind and professional. She explained everything she was doing as we went along, which was very helpful since it was my first ever facial. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience and my skin came away looking and feeling great. I highly recommend Anara Medspa!

One of the awful effects of having hormone issues is that I struggle with hairy legs/​underarms and fingers. I have spent a crazy amount of money on razors, waxing, threading, etc. and finally decided that it was time to look into laser hair removal. After consulting some friends who have had this done, I learned that it is a painful process. I was concerned because I also have screwed up nerves and tend to feel pain a lot more than normal people do. This is an especially important concern for me as any bout of pain can set off a flare of other medical issues. As a result, I really wanted to find a trustworthy med spa where I could talk to a real doctor and I was very happy when I came across Anara MedSpa in Piscataway, New Jersey. Piscataway is a bit farther than I would normally go, but I have family in Edison and New Brunswick, so I figured that I could make a nice day trip out of it. I will be providing updates throughout the process, but so far, I am very pleased with this spa. First, I did a lot of online research about Anara and was very happy to find that they actually require you to have an hour-​long consultation with Dr. Ram Chandra, who is board certified and boasts some very impressive credentials. I was also quite pleased to find hundreds of reviews from happy clients. Finally, I was happy when I made several calls to the spa to ask very detailed questions about the procedure and was always got very patient, detailed and thorough answers. Upon visiting the spa, I was pleased to find that the waiting area is very clean and comfortable; it made me feel confident to proceed with booking my appointment. I was also pleased to find that they were very accommodating about the scheduling and will allow you to have the consultation on the same day as your first session. Overall, I have been very pleased with the professionalism and service I’ve gotten from Anara!

Ive just finished my 3^rd session with Dr. Chandra, and the results have been absolutely amazing. I honestly wish I had done this years ago. Along with hair removal, the process makes your skin incredibly smooth. It is such a difference!
The office is very accommodating with appointment times and are open later during the week so that I don’t have to take time off of work to schedule anything. I’ve never had to wait past my appointment time and the office and waiting room and clean and serene, plus the staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider getting another area treated once I’m finished with my current package.

Since it’s been a while, I thought I’d update my review to say that Anara is still just as great as it was when I first started my treatments. Dr. Chandra has been very helpful and upfront throughout the process. When I was being a baby about the pain (ladies, it really isnt that painful), he said that while the pain might be more with another laser, it was more effective and I wouldnt need as many treatments.
This really spoke to his integrity because he could have opted to use the lighter laser (and note: I did have to come in after 3 months for a touch up instead of the usual 6). Dr. Chandra used a stronger laser at my last appointment and lo and behold, there’s been no growth in two months. Dr. Chandra makes good recommendations and is never pushy about getting additional treatments or more treatments than necessary. Over the past few years, I’ve had great service here and I really appreciate how accommodating his practice is in making sure that folks who work a 9 – 5 job can actually make appointments during the week.
I’m planning on getting a different area lasered soon and I’ll definitely update my review as soon as I get results. Meanwhile, if you’re in the area and looking for a clean and honest laser center, Anara is definitely your best bet.

I have been very fortunate to find Anara and so far have been very very happy with the results and the price. A few things stand out distinctly at Anara:
1. Staff, all of them, is very nice and always accommodating.
2. It’s always the Physician who does the laser procedure on you; not a technician, not an Esthetician and not a nurse. That gives me great comfort and confidence knowing fully well that I am in good hands. I will not trust my beautiful body to a cheaper Groupon deal because I love me and care about me so much!
3. They have something like 5 different lasers just for hair removal and that I did not find elsewhere.
4. The ambience is serene and beautiful!
5. The money I used to spend on waxing is now history after the laser procedures.

This is about photofacial/​laser facial treatment for the outer arms and décolleté, which had these freckles, most possibly from sun damage, as I did not have them since birth and hence could not have been «genetic». After 3 sessions most of these sun damage spots especially the darkers ones have gone. It looks so refreshingly nice and even now. Some less darker ones are still there but that does not bother me so much and as I will continue with the treatments, my guess is it will improve. He also suggested chemical peels, and possibly micropen sessions in the future should it be necessary. Its not often you see that patients are fully involved in planning and decision making for their own treatments. Totally honest and upfront. I love that!

I’m so pleased with the results of my hair removal I wish I had it done years ago! I’m not going to lie, it is a little painful but I’m so glad I had my procedure done at Anara Medspa. Dr. Chandra, an experienced professional, walked me thru the whole process, answered all my questions and was gentle as possible on all 7 sessions. I also had microdermabrasion done by Christina and I’m happy with the results. Anara Medspa is the place to go! I highly recommend this spa.

Went for my second session last week. It was a lot more comfortable this time. And I could now see the difference in the way my skin looks which is more even than before, mainly because of less hair. Since my first session I have shaved 3 times, decreased from twice a week routine. I can not wait for the day when I would be able to toss the razors and epilators out of the window!

BEWARE– DO NOT GO HERE. BURN ON MY FACE.
I am asian and have slight facial hair particularly side burns. I had purchased a 6 session package for laser hair removal from Dr. Chandra. The price was very affordable. During my visit he placed ice on the area of where he was going to laser, but the pain was hard to bare. I’ve never had laser hair removal before so I thought this was normal. On my second session, the pain was even worse and when I got home I saw a large red burn to my left cheek. Two days later the burn looked worse and was very painful. I was devastated since it was on my face!!! I returned to his office the following day and he gave me a vitamin serum to apply and said it was going to be ok. This is not ok! I soon went to a dermatologist for skin care as I was so afraid it would cause a scar. It took about 6 months for it to clear up. I never saw Dr. Chandra again since I was traumatized. I don’t want anyone else to go through this!!! Be smart, do your research, and go to a doctor that is reputable and has experience, even though it may cost a little more.

I went to this place back in November and I would never go back. I purchased LHR for full arms and underarms. I know laser is suppose to hurt to an extent, but this place the pain was unbearable. First of all they tapped my eyes shut and basically blind folded me, which heightens the pain. They also didn’t tell me when they were going to start zapping me, which freaked me out because since I’m blindfolded I had no idea what was going on. And he used two different lasers on top of one another. It was ridiculously painful, first the Alexandra then the yag. I had laser before when I lived in florida and it was no where near this painful. I had severe swelling and blisters all over my arms and underarms. I was so sensitive for a whole week before it wasn’t painful in the area anymore. I know this was not normal and plus it was so expensive. And also he said if there’s no hair in the area he zapped there will be no pain bc I told him I don’t grow hair in certain areas he was zapping and so he said look and zapped me on the side of my stomach and I screamed out that it does hurt! And he says that should not hurt! And he went on to finish the session. The only reason I didn’t stop the session is since I was halfway through and I would have to pay for it I light as well. But I was crying and screaming in pain and he said, beauty is pain and it’s going to hurt. I went to a different LHR place in NYC and their prices were cheaper and it was no where near as painful and the girl who did my services was super nice and talked me through the whole thing. I would not go to this place for LHR unless you like pain and being blindfolded with the person zapping you not even telling you what’s going on. I was so traumatized after this experience.

Awesome, I had a under arm laser treatment. Only after appointment I have no more hair. Love it now I wear all types of dresses with confidence. There is no wait period, Dr Chandra is indeed very wonderful and efficient. He walked me through the process and he is skillful in his technique.

Not a good place for facial. Waste of money. I agree with Kamna G. reviews. Yes, the only lady in the spa, did 2 – 3 extractions and cleansing… that too very slow as if wanted to kill time just to make the facial 45 minutes long. Hardly 2 minutes massage. Felt like I paid $ 49 just to apply mask on my face. Facial ended with some kind of oily lotion or oil not sure what was that. Felt weird coming out with an oily face. Eek!

WORST FACIAL EVER. WASTE OF MONEY.
I purchased a «deep pore cleansing» facial on groupon. Now, I normally get facials every 6 weeks or so and have a regular place that I go to. Since this location was so close to my home, I figured I would give it a shot. BAD IDEA. First of all, the one receptionist is the same person that does the facial. I’ve never seen this before.
She put gloves on in the beginning of my facial which did not feel good against my face. After steaming, she spent about 30 seconds doing extractions of black and white heads (I have plenty of those and figured she would focus on this during a supposed deep pore cleanse). All of this was done in about 15 min (this includes my changing and getting settled in). After this, she put a mask on my face for 30 – 35 minutes. This ended with a massage of Sandalwood OIL onto my face. I’m not sure why anyone would ever put oil on someone’s face, particularly AFTER a facial. I’m also not sure why someone would call this a 60 minute facial. But they did. And charged for it.
I would not go back to this place even if they offered me FREE treatments.

I can honestly say Anara medical spa is the best spa ever. I went to have a consultation because I was suffering with bad acne. Dr. Chandra definitely helped me find what treatment I had to do for my face and set me up with Jamie for my micro peels. I had three Micropeels so far and I can see a great change in everything, the clarity, smaller pores, smoothness, the even pigment of my face, and overall face acne and look. I love it! And I am very satisfied for the results, I will always be going back for more. I would recommended Anara medical spa to anyone! :)

I went for the groupon $ 100 for a facial and microderm. There was an option $ 70 for just microderm or add $ 30 to include facial. Since I have never had microderm before I cannot comment as to it’s effectiveness, it seemed to be on the up and up. However, the facial was not exactly what I’m used to. I think she did 5 extractions and a mask, (no steam, no magnifier, etc.) but for $ 30 what should I have expected? All in all, it was a luckluster experience and I would not go back.
