History
Established in 1968.
Beppo is an Italian nickname for Joseph, which was Gerard’s father. Uno is Italian for the number one, i.e., «Joseph One.» Joseph H. Williamson Jr. and wife Frances were responsible for the initial success of the restaurant, spanning almost three decades. Joseph began working as a store manager for Cassano’s Dayton in the early 1960s where he quickly became responsible for multiple stores as a district manager. With the Piqua restaurant struggling at the time, Victor Cassano Sr. had the insight to offer the restaurant up for sale to Joseph, and with a loan from Frances’ mother, the rest is, as they say, is history. Gerard Williamson, along with his brother, Karl and sisters, Dorothy and Mary Jo, have worked on and off at the Piqua restaurant since the age of 12.
