In the past 40 years we have updated some things, but kept our values and charm the same it has always been. Colonial Steak House is known for offering charcoal grilled steaks and seafood with outstanding service. Our steaks are hand selected and cut by our head chef daily, to ensure optimum quality and freshness.

Last time I was there the steak was great. The salad bar is small but well attended. We go there for special occasions. We have been going there for many years. Prices are above average.

I had a awesome experience. The reviews regarding the dated furnishings are true, but I felt as though it added character and a little home style charm. The steaks were amazing and the homemade au gratin was superb. There was a lot of food. The prices, while a little high for the area of town I visited (dilapidated area), were well matched for the quality and quantity of food received. The staff was very friendly and professional.

Its our first time to try this restaurant and ordered their prime rib and colonial special which is a sirloin steak. Our orders came with a salad bar and it tasted pretty okay. It was a little weird that we were served saltine biscuits and was served butter but I guess its their tradition its just that I was expecting bread with the butter and not saltine. Anyway they later served with the steaks and it was really good! We kinda had a problem waiting for our steaks as it took them about 45 minutes to serve it but when it arrived it was really big and thick and it was really good. It was cooked perfectly to medium. I got the potato gratin as sides and it was just okay. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake and it was simple but soo good! They gave us complimentary lemon tart to try and it was good as well! We will definetely be back next time.

This is my favorite restaurant of all time. We travel extensively through the year and we have not found a better steak in any of the places we have gone too. Absoutley love love love this restaurant. Every time we walk in it feels as if we are coming home.

Formal eatery. Not really family orientated.
Great food and friendly staff.
They offer steaks and chicken. Their steaks are brag worthy. They have a big help yourself salad bar. The food is all excellent. The location itself is historic.
The parking is not that great and sometimes can be hard to find. The prices are outrageous. Go here to impress a date. Not very family friendly. Be ready to have a bigger bill.

There are some definite issues with the front of the house: host is very inefficient. He was very inaccurate as to wait time to be seated longer 30 minutes. Once seated saw many empty tables ready for guests to be seated. Wait staff had an interesting way to replenish ice cubes in glasses (a kitchen bowl with ice and an ice cube scoop and a plastic pitcher of sweet tea). Some things noted: salad bar looked like it had been «run over» because they had been really busy… Selection acceptable but pieces were huge and required cutting and slicing at the table: the sneeze guard was dirty– they bring your food out on a rolling stainless steel kitchen cart. Broccoli had no seasoning: major sin of the kitchen! Waiting for my dill sauce for my salmon… I got melted butter??? I think the dill sauce is not made from scratch. Came from the grocery store and definitely not fresh! Very disappointed !

Colonial serves maybe the best steaks in Arkansas. Not sure what you marinate your steaks with but it sure makes for a mouth watering taste. Located in an old school with «old school» personal service. A must place to dine in south Arkansas.

I was excited to try the «best steakhouse» in Pine Bluff, but realized quickly that it probably wasn’t going to meet my expectations once I walked in the door.
The décor was horrible and the walls had peeling paint. I felt sorry for the waitstaff as they were made to wear really ugly black scrub-​type outfits that were ill fitting and they had to push the food out on a rickety cart over the carpeted floor. We waited for over an hour for our meals. The food was as out-​dated as the décor. Who serves gigantic baked potatoes in foil besides your mother? They do. The salad bar was scary… another old-​fashioned practice from the 80’s.
The food was super expensive and I felt for the long wait that we should have at least been offered a free dessert.

CON: dated 80’s era furniture and décor. Overdue for some deep cleaning and upgrades.
OF NOTE: simple atmosphere, diner style plates and utensils, simple iceberg lettuce salad bar, Steaks are cooked more then specified (medium rare will come back more medium will). Ask your server to underline rare if you prefer more accurate cooking.

Of all the steak places I’ve been to, I have never tasted a steak like the ribeye at CSH. I’m not sure what the cooking process was, but it looked and tasted as if it were aged and smoked then charbroiled to a perfect medium just as I ordered. The waitress asked if we wanted any steak sauce, which was totally unecessary because this steak is infused with juiciness and flavor right from the kitchen. The simple steamed baked potato loaded w/​butter and sourcream it came with was a bit pedestrian, but who cares — this ribeye was the bomb! The self-​serve salad bar and appetizers were fine, but the steak is THE thing here. I finished the whole thing and relished every single bite with ease, which I can rarely do nowadays. If you’re a steak lover who just happens to find themselves in Pine Bluff like I did, you have to try Colonial Steak House.

The Colonial Steak House is housed in a 100+ year old Catholic school. This place looks like the kind of elegant place that my parents would have gone back in the 70’s (if they weren’t poor white trash). The only problem is that it doesn’t seem like anything has been updated in those last 30 years.
That said, the service was VERY attentive and friendly and quick. Our waitress comped us a piece of Lemon Pie just because. I had ordered a slice of the black bottom pie, which was great. Graham cracker crust soaked with rum and (I think) molasses. Chocolate mouse and some type of Eagle Brand cream on top of that. Excellent. I took a bite of the lemon pie that she brought us to taste and it made the black bottom pie taste like ass bottom pie. The lemon pie was the best I’ve ever had.
I had a T-​Bone, which was slightly overcooked – I asked for medium, I think it turned out closer to medium well. But man, it was tasty and tender.
The salad bar was good. Nothing extraordinary, but fresh and clean.
The meal came with this fantastic garlic bread. Instead of being toasted, I think that they cook it on a griddle. It tasted like garlicy grilled cheese bread (sans the cheese). Again, another pleasant surprise.
The only reason this isn’t a 5 star review is that my gin & tonic was way overpriced. $ 8? WTF? I just got well liquor, man. $ 8 is a little steep even if I had asked for Sapphire or some other premium gin.
I would definitely hit this place up again, but thank the Jesus I’m getting out of this shithole of a town soon!
